Russert was a shill for the bad guys.

Maybe a little more personable than most (I never thought so, but different strokes..) and less obvious than Gregory, but no doubt whose side he was on.

This post is supposed to elicit comments about how Tim Russert never showed up at any of the Althouse meet-ups?

I'll always remember him for giving us the red state and blue state paradigm and getting it wrong on purpose.

Like Jaltcoh, I was shocked by Tim Russert's death. Russert was a giant, and a good one.

He was a good soldier for The Movement.

I miss Tony Snow in just the same way.

Christopher Hitchens' death hurt me the most.

I'm still trying to get over the passing of Vivian Vance.

Putting my impression of his leanings aside Russert was better than David Gregory by orders of magnitude.

Russert was a slightly more intelligent Chris Matthews.

Wait a minute.....a rock could be described as s slightly more intelligent Chris Matthews.

Nevermind.

He was a well-spoken Democrat hack who had his 'thumb on the scale' of almost every interview he did.

Was he better than Gregory?
Yeah and that's not saying much.

The guy who should be missed is
David Brinkley.
Then Tony Snow.
Russert was barely fit to hand them their show prep.

I never thought very highly of Russert. He was given too much credit by conservatives because he wasn't as overtly bias as most journalists. If I had my choice, it would have have Russert who was convicted of perjury instead of Scooter Libby. Regardless, a man was convicted of perjury base on a different recollection of a conversation, I'd hate to get convicted of perjury based on the memory of some of the people I play golf with.

Russert was one of the biggest media hacks of our time. Granted, he would ask tough questions of both sides, but he never followed up when questioning (D)'s.
Typical exchange:
"Senator (Democrat), there is irrefutable proof that you accepted that bribe--what do you have to say for yourself?"
"It's all a vast right-wing conspiracy to destroy me."
"Fair enough. Whadya think the Bills' chances are this year?"
