"You’re about to find out who I am."

What famous person with a seemingly clean reputation was pulled over for drunk driving and sassed a cop like that?

Oh, does it really matter? Isn't it what they'd all say if they were too dumb/drunk to hold their tongue? (This one isn't dumb, by the way. She went to Stanford.)

I wouldn't have guessed her but, ultimately, you are right--they're nearly all douchebags at heart and any one of them might have said it.

It's partly our fault, we have convinced these nobodies possessed of no useful talent that they are important, that they matter more despite the fact that if the whole bunch of them fell off the face of the earth, we'd notice for about a week (and even then only. Because the news forced us to), then we'd start watching the shows made by their replacements.

I don't think all celebrities are born narcissists, but almost all become narcissists because of the way everyone reacts to them, catering to their whims. It's bound to warp them, especially if they achieve celebrity at an early age.

When people get plastered, they say and do stupid things, but, hey, her real offense was she was illegally brunette.

Her reputation would remain unsullied had she offered the police officer a blow job.

I'm pretty sure that is not the slam dunk tautology you think it is.

She put the spotlight on her alone, away from what she and her husband were doing together: endangering the lives of people on the streets that night. Good tactic (for her). Hopefully, it won't work. Al Michaels was also arrested on DUI.

Please Ann, you should know by now (president obama) that just because you went to a "great" school (president obama) doesn't make you particularly smart (president obama).

"Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said. It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that was no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I am very sorry for my behavior."

report the whole story.

I hope the Ford Fusion was a hybrid or else someone has come on hard times-which we call poetic justice.

Why is intelligence so often rated by whether one went to Stanford, Harvard, Yale, blah blah.

Witherspoon dropped out of Stanford after on year. Probably got cut from the cheer-leading team? Big deal...I was accepted at Columbia, but couldn't afford it, but had I tried for a year would that make me "smart?"

I am far more impressed by those who matriculate at UW or U of M or Purdue, Northwestern, etc...no doors open *just because* ole boy or ole girl...you actually have to graduate and do something.

Harvard et al have had some great drop outs, no doubt...but just going there for a bit isn't what made them, Harvard et al also has some incredibly mundane professors, one now a Senator.

Yes, I am biased...I was a "Fed" and well over half the pompous know-nothing demagogue assholes I met in DC all went to Harvard of Yale or Columbia.

How do you know she was 'sassing' the officer?

Perhaps she said the words mournfully or sadly, as in "Oh, jeez, what a mess this is...."

Reese has a gap. I thought girls with gaps were allowed to be sassy.

I don't think this is so bad. Intoxicated, agitated, and feeling protective of her husband, it's easy to see why she would blurt that out. People who aren't famous say and do stupid things all the time. Big deal.

JHapp বলেছেন...

We are all being so stupid, she meant she was part of that crowd David Gregory is in.

Why, yes, yes I do ... :-))

I doubt I've ever been so stupid, even drunk, to ask a cop "do you know who I am?" ... or something along those lines. I try not to invite an ass kicking.

That form of stupidity fits the street rules I've cited often here, that there is a difference between "stand up" and "shut up".

Valentine Smith বলেছেন...

Never said anything like that to a cop.

I always said, "who do you think you are?" before the cop slugged me.

traditionalguy বলেছেন...

Witherspoon is far from stupid. But she was "acting" as protector of her new husband. That was not smart.

Maybe they can get a brunette lawyer.

Drunk people say stupid stuff. I know I do when I am drunk. Alcohol does a wonderful job of disinhibiting the frontal lobes. That is why candy is dandy but liquor is quicker and beer goggles exist, poor frontal lobe activity.

Gee Ann, you seem to treat her differently than you did Mel Gibson when he was pulled over a few years back. To quote you, does it really matter? It seemed to matter to you back then.

Brian Brown বলেছেন...

Al Michaels got a DUI over the weekend too.

Its Mel Gibson, without the racial epithets.

She should sue for age discrimination. Her tricks always worked before.

Can't be that dumb, can she. I remember seeing that she went to Harvard Law School. Or, was that a movie? Little things got me about that (first LB) movie. The entire admissions process - boyfriend is going to HLS, girlfriend then decides to go, crams, aces LSATs, has 4.0 in fashion design, gets admitted on diversity, then boyfriend turns out to be have been wait listed. Timing seems a bit off. And, then formerly wait listed boyfriend gets included on that special project. And, then, a judge allowing a 1L (under supervision) to defend a 1st degree murder case? Still liked the 1st movie (but follow on was a lot weaker). Liked some of her other work better.

If she wants the police or whomever to know who she is, then she should have stayed blond. Figure that she was a brunette for anonymity, and as a result, it shouldn't be surprising that she was not recognized. I wouldn't have, despite the trademark chin, with that hair, if I hadn't been looking.

I thought it would have been Al Michaels, but hey, it was a bad week for celebrities.

Witherspoon was raised in Nashville, Tennessee in an Episcopalian family of a Doctor father and Phd nurse mother.

She has successfully invested her own money during a successful carrer. She is only 5 feet tall, but she doesn't hesitate to act stupid for the man she loves. Her only crime is romance.

ndspinelli বলেছেন...

She may be a "darling" but I've had her pegged for a LONG time, just like Lance Armstrong. My daughter loves this bitch and said I was wrong. She's having crow for lunch today.

Speaking of sassing cops:
When my dad was in the Marines, back in the early 50's, he once responded to an MP's shouted "Hey, what are you doing there?" with "Everybody's got to be *somewhere*."
It turned out just about as well as you might imagine.

Methadras বলেছেন...

Alcohol, the opiate of stupidity.

Oh, hey there Inga.

Astro বলেছেন...

She was an English Lit major at Stanford and left after one year. (Is it even required to declare a major in the first year?)
Not exactly the same as graduating from there with a degree in computer science.

Fred Drinkwater বলেছেন...

I once knew a Stanford grad who told an interviewee, to his face during the interview, that his engineering degree was less valuable because it was not from Stanford.
I never attended there, but I did look at the course catalog, and I *think* I would have noticed a course titled "Ego Magnification".
