Hmm. Firefox allows it. This is a fascinating bug.
There's a blond woman taking my picture and this kid came along and photo bombed us with a bubble blaster.
One of the favorite things on b3ta is to put the joke in the reflection of something shiny, like the picture is a teapot but the joke is a naked fat man getting his morning tea distorted in the reflection, or mirrored sunglasses reflecting a dog scooting across a carpet.

I've been to Ireland (wonderful place) and I've seen a lot of movies about Ireland and the Irish, but my favorite 'Ireland' moment is in 'The Spirit of St. Louis' when Jimmy Stewart, as Charles Lindbergh, realizes that patch of green he is flying toward is Ireland and he starts shouting "Ireland! It's Ireland!"
It's only right today: Red Haired Mary sung and played by my favorite group, Cathy Jordan & "Dervish." And they're in the USA as we speak.
I had thought that "loophole" referred to a fault in the weaving of a carpet or piece of cloth that some bug or dirt could pass through, but it turns out to mean the defensive "windows" or embrasures in medieval castle walls that the defenders could shoot arrows, etc., through at their attackers.
This meaning does not seem as apt in the contexts it is being used today.
Anyway, I got to thinking that "loopholes" in the tax code is what dastardly Republicans insert to favor the evil rich, while "directed tax policies" are employed by benevolent Democrats to favor the virtuous poor.
We celebrate St. paddy's day by getting drunk and eating a potato. Usually followed by a Donnybrook and bad-mouthing Cromwell.

This morning I was reminiscing about my days when I was singing and playing with an Irish group in San Francisco (1969-72)in some of the pubs frequented by first generation Irish immigrants. And my trip to Ireland on a charter plan with the St Patrick Fathers (you couldn't find a nicer, harder drinking tougher bunch of guys). Those were fun days. Began to play some of the traditional Irish songs that the crowds loved to hear, until my hubby said STOP!!!! I guess he just isn't into high Irish culture :-)
This one was a big favorite because everyone, no matter how drunk they were, could sing the chorus and bang their pint glasses on the bar. Not a traditional version but Damn they have the correct spirit. No Nay Never No More....

The Census department announced today it will no longer count the Irish as "Free Colored" but will instead create a new category "White persons who eat potatoes and are mostly drunk" to account for them. Irish leaders were unable to comment since they had all left for the nearest bar.
Meanwhile, the Scots have demanded to be called "Free whites"

For years they struggled against "White Prejudice" just like Black folks. Fortunately, some time around 1960, they accepted by hate-filled KKK Amerika.

Not an issue of happy, but too many people hear, "Irish", and think, "Kennedy".
I could never understand why my mother got so wound up about a pack of faux aristocrats who had nothing in common the real micks in this country.
PS Even Mark Steyn gets it wrong. He's got the idea in his head "No Irish Need Apply" was some minor thing in the 1920s and 30s.
I have a little tome by Donald R. Lavash, "a historian on the staff of the New Mexico State Records Center and Archives," that claims the Lincoln County War was a case of dastardly Anglos, such as William McCarty-Antrim-Bonney and friends, working for the Tunstall-McSween combine and bent on murdering the innocent hard-working Irish-American proprietors of the Murhy-Riley-Dolan Store and their faithful Irish employees and associates in order to establish a second English Pale in the American Southwest.
