Did you decline the earnings on principle?

Meade म्हणाले...

No. The purchaser found a copy of the book priced at $0.01. Used the Althouse portal though, and that never fails to convey, to the blogger, the unmistakable message: Don't stop blogging. I care!

Trillion dollar bills. Using the "Rock Band" font (see http://tinyurl.com/4hzu2a), that is awesome.

I love telling people about hyperinflation, they really don't believe it. I might just buy this.

Which just goes to show the value of what Ann Coulter has to say.

Books I've gotten free through Amazon include many of the greatest books ever written. I got the 100 greatest poems in English for $0.00.

Go over there and search the free Kindle selections. You can read for the rest of your life without paying anything or every reading anything substandard.

But, sure, Coulter is one of many writers today who crank out political books.

I don't know why these things need to be books.

Just a long electronic file, searchable in Kindle. Might be some bloggable stuff.

Don't be disingenuous. The Coulter book was a hardcover, not the e-book. Also the books you are referring to are in the public domain, unlike Coulter's.

Meade, would you be more appreciative of dissenting voices such as mine if I purchased items through the portal?

Because I'm feeling a bit generous today, and on the principle of value, wouldn't mind transacting a $0.01 purchase through the portal if that's the case.

I noticed on Gizmodo that Amazon dropped the price on Aeropress.

Does that sentence make sense?

If id does, the new price is still $26.00, as it was yesterday. So the deal of two days at least.

But my Aeropress sits idle. Although it makes excellent coffee, as far as coffee goes, it's still a terrible substance.

But why?

It's awful no matter how you doll it up. It tears up your stomach, stains your teeth, coats your tongue unpleasantly, imparts foul breath. It is Kryptonite to your superpower of minty-fresh breath. It causes flatulence and then you blow out your doughnuts at loose high velocities causing backsplash. It sets your nerves on edge, and it always insists on more. It's untidy no matter how it's handled and it's usually a complete mess. It's demanding and expensive. It's ritualistic.

But I do recommend the Aeropress since you're never dissuaded from self destruction. I've given them as gifts. One person dismissed the gift because he likes his French thing better. When I suggested he regift it, that I wouldn't be offended, his girlfriend laughed like hyena. I don't like her. For the life of me I don't know why that was funny. The other giftee loved it and being coffeefile he spread the word, and being an advocate he spread the word far and wide, but he experienced a problem that I did not have because I do not scrub the rubber thing so hard as he does. Apparently, his loosened due to overscrubbing and I do not that nor do I put the part with the rubber bottom in the dishwasher either. So his lost pressure.

Meade म्हणाले...

Chip, suggestion to your overscrubbing friend: pour hot water in hollow of plunger, wait 1 minute, plunge slowly. Still doesn't form pressure? Throw away in recycle bin, buy new aeropress, go easy on the overscrubbing, scrubbs.

Freder, my house is stocked with classics, many in hardcover and bought for one cent on Amazon.

John from Pomeroy on the Palouse म्हणाले...

I've found many a book on Amazon that's 1 cent in good or vg condition, but several dollars in paperback.

I have a question for Meade and/or Ann. Oftentimes I'll start my search using the box on a blog (I've been using that lawyer out in LA) and then, following the "people who bought this book also bought ..." links will add several more (usually more than a penny) books. Do you get a commission on the while order or just the initial purchase?

Meade म्हणाले...

John, if you go in through our portal, any purchases you make while in Amazon will pay us a commission. If you leave the Amazon site and come back, you must re-enter through our portal for us to earn commissions on additional purchases. Thanks for asking.

Since Ann Coulter's interview with John Stossel, I don't think too many people will buy her books. She has shown her true colors, and it ain't pretty. Her agenda is number one, liberty for individuals is not important. I used to like her, and now I won't listen to her or read anything from her again. About time she retired.

Thanks for the response, Meade.

I've heard so many descriptions of how Amazon credits affiliates. After your answer, I purchased a book on Tea Cozies -- but it's not going to be released till June, so you'll just have to wait for your buck or so (grin) -- from the search box here, using my desktop.

Then later this afternoon, I "bought" a Kindle version of Gibbon's Roman Empire, again searching through here, on my Fire. Except it was free to me.

Now I'm going to get my daughter a used copy of a college music textbook that'll be "ripped apart", scanned, and turned into a MP3 at her school.
