The Italians have a more G-rated and sensible story behind the words laugh and smile:
Sorriso (smile), derives from the verb sorridere (to smile).
Sorridere derives from the Latin word subridere (smile) which is derived from ridere (laugh at , laugh; ridicule).
So whereas Urban Dictionary celebrates the ridiculous, the classics emphasized restraint and suppression. :)
Every Labor-Day Weekend, since last 10+ years, I watch the movie, Stand by Me. The beginning and end - and everything in-between - still gives me goose-bumps.

I had watched this movie on the Friday it was released. Other than this movie, other favorites include Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark (both not available on iTunes). I watch these via YouTube in clips. Some movies I like to watch again and again. Stage Coach is one and other is Red River. A recent favorite is Double Indemnity and The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (old, original, B/W versions). I rarely watch new movies. In fact, the last one was Thank you for smoking, many years ago. ITunes is my movie theatre.
