"Reclaim Women’s Equality" rally at the Wisconsin Capitol draws only 100 people.

"Wendi Kent... had hoped enough would attend to encircle the Capitol...."
She said she invited Republican and Democratic state lawmakers. She told me a representative from Madison Rep. Brett Hulsey’s office was the only one who responded, to say he couldn’t attend.
Good old Brett Hulsey. At least he responded!

I love this picture of what "I am woman, hear me roar" looks like in Wisconsin nowadays.

Why would someone plan a rally the week students move in? No one is around, and those that are are busy with life.

Fail.

I would love to see women reduced in status until they were only equal to men.

“It’s my body,” she says. “I don’t want other people making decisions for me.”

Exactly. So why do you want me to pay for your birth control?

They would have drawn more than 100 if they had gone topless.

""We do not know true equality. YET.""

Wendy suffers from the delusions of leftism, characterized here by the idea that there is some point at which 'true equality' is reached.

In short, she is an idiot.

That clenched fist photo is quite persuasive.

Maybe if libtard women stop whining and get on with their lives, they might feel less oppressed.

What is she complaining about? Is her doctor telling her to lose weight or something?

Man, the air has really gone out of in the Left in WI.

Given these are professional, over-the-hill Lefties, it would have looked more like Breasts Not Bombs than Go Topless.

Were there any big vaginas? I hear that's always a big draw.

Sorun म्हणाले...

The problem with "women's equality" is that women themselves won't get with the program, even it's most vocal and powerful advocates:

[Sen. Patty] Murray, who has repeatedly accused Republicans of waging a “war a women,” is one of the worst offenders. Female members of Murray’s staff made about $21,000 less per year than male staffers in 2011, a difference of 35.2 percent.

Not if they saw the linked picture first.

Imagine she's someone's daughter who is investing in her education to become a productive member of society. Or at least that's what they hoped. Dreams die in college now.

"Reclaim"?

Did it go somewhere?

(Also, what PatCA said - part of "equality" is self-sufficiency*.

Demanding subsidies is demanding subordinate status, not empowerment.

Because whoever controls the purse, controls the subsidies, controls the subsidized.

* Well, unless the goal is "equal" subservience to the State. Which I suppose it might be for some people. Fortunately that desire is not incredibly popular... yet.)

If these middle aged hippie women had gone topless, I'd arrest them for visual assault.

tim maguire म्हणाले...

Reclaim equality? So we were once equal? I rather like that idea. Please, point me to when so we can get specific, realistic. When were we equal? What did it look like?

Finally, an objective standard.

I would love to see women compete on an even playing field with men. I look forward to the day when they can sign up for Selective Service and pay the freight on their added medical costs. I can't wait to see equal treatment in family court, as well as severe punishment for false rape accusations and paternity fraud.

When is the government going to address the disparate impact the college admissions process have on men, and when are we going to close the life expectancy gap?

Join with me, my sisters, and we can make the world a better place!

Equality is apparently defined as getting what you want.

If a lawsuit goes against any particular group, at best it is seen as supporting inequality, not that the group may not have had a case to begin with.

i clicked on the attached link and was very sorry that i had. i have a hard time taking anybody seriously that tattoos themselves in that fashion. all a tattoo says to me is "i'm stupid". the more tattoos i see, the stupider that person appears.

it's ugly now, and just wait until they are 60 or so, and the tattoo has faded and stretched. bleh.

Meade म्हणाले...

What if they had a war on women and nobody showed up?

I thought of that too, although, shouldn't it be more like What if they had a war on women and only the women showed up? And even then, only a few of the women showed up? - not even good old Brett Hulsey... who isn't really a woman although he does tend to take just like a woman. Yes he does.

But he breaks just like a little girl.

James Taranto imagines a world without men per the weekend NYtimes article "Man, Who Needs Them?" by Greg Hampikian, a professor of biology and criminal justice at Boise State University.

"But as we've noted before, high-sex-ratio societies also tend to treat women better than low-sex-ratio ones do. That's simple economics: Men value women more, and therefore do more for them, when they're in short supply. Hampikian's hypothetical society, with a sex ratio of zero, would be a dystopia for women, and not only because they'd be deprived of entertainment."

Also .. "In Hampikian's world without men, every last burden would rest on women. And good luck finding a plumber."

"I am woman, hear me roar"

Yeah , sure!

Quaestor म्हणाले...

Middle aged? Even the cougar look is a forlorn hope with this crew.

Good Canary म्हणाले...

Am I surprised I am being judged on my looks here? Not one single bit. I would expect nothing more from you.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"Am I surprised I am being judged on my looks here? Not one single bit. I would expect nothing more from you."

Ironically, you seem to be judging me. What exactly are you saying?

How did I judge you on your looks? How do you interpret my statement? Maybe you are judging yourself. I just thought the tiny, plastic (or plastic-looking) bullhorn was funny and amusingly connected to the smallness of the crowd.

Where did I say anything about your looks? Seriously, you interpreted what you read, and you're displaying your own ideas about yourself, which I find interesting.

You say you are not surprised. See how funny that is? You have your pre-existing ideas, your prejudices and opinions, and you drop by here and have them confirmed.

What a display of hypocrisy!

What's not surprising to me is that so few people showed up to hear what you had to say through the tiny plastic (or plastic-looking) bullhorn.

(Is "bullhorn" the right word?)

ElectriKolor म्हणाले...

A larger bullhorn was put into play later in the event...yes, I have photos. I can also attest that there were more than 100 people there photographically (and not enhancing the image either).

No, I'm not a middle age hippie, although I have been described as such. Many of us who protest the inequalities that still exist in this world (surprise, surprise) have incomes, have lives, and care about the rights of others.

Many of us have hair that isn't ironed or chemically straightened. Some have tattoos. That doesn't make us less intelligent or passionate. Our appearance doesn't define who we are.

Our parent's incomes don't define who we become. Our acceptance of social programs by our government is part of who we are...and we pay taxes into the system...and social security gets collected from our paychecks.

The size of one's voice as projected from a large or small megaphone is irrelevant...on the other hand, the message remains important. Women were given the right to vote 92 years ago. There is a resolution out there that claims we have equality and celebrates it every year on August 26. The premise of the protest was that we're not even close on the equality issue.

So there weren't tons of people there. You have only 42 people commenting (before me on this post). Does you use the number of comments to define the value of your words?

Were you out commenting on the rally on April 26 that had over a thousand people there with a full sound system? Does that add up to something important enough for you to not focus in on the size of the megaphone?
