... an offshoot of Professor Jacobson's Legal Insurrection.
"Insurrection" — a brand. (Like "Occupy"?)
ADDED: Maybe "Althouse" should be a brand, sending off shoots. But what could it be? I mean the name could be "-house," but what could the substance of the brand be? My blog has always only been: topics I'm interested in, written about from my point of view. If anyone else did that, it would have no relationship to what I'm doing. It would just be another blog.

I'm going to start a blog called The Corner Ace of Altapundit. Unfortunately I have no good ideas of my own so it would be pretty much just like reading those 4 blogs.
Well, you have posts just about law - call that LawHouse.
And then there's culture - CultHouse, UWM - MadHouse, etc.
But Maggie's Farm classifies the blog as eclectic and that's what it is, so, if you want to specialize, you lose that.
I just found out that the Drudge Report has a blog just for Pennsylvania called the Keystone Report.
"If anyone else did that, it would have no relationship to what I'm doing. It would just be another blog."
You would have editorial judgment, able to tell them when they're boring.
The "blog-nazi". If someone is no longer interesting you could say, "No blog for you! Blog again in one year!"
Meade got an offshoot role of sorts during the Madison protests, doing his street reporting.
Maybe AltPeople, AltKitchen, AltTravel...
You write only about these subtopics...
just a'riffin'
You can get anything you want
At Althouse's Restaurant.
Maybe you should set up a blog that although the content is fairly conservative you get an uncanny amount of liberal commenters. Is that the sort of brand you have (with conservative/liberal reversed)
Brickhouse...
As in "built like a brick shithouse."
For that alternate universe in which the Brickhouse dreams of being a hypersexed wild-assed playgirl.
Musical hero... Tommy Lee of Motley Crue.
Special focus on swinger clubs and outrageous lingerie!
wv: stykfun (You can't make this shit up!)
Is "Ann" short for "Arianna"?
As always, Shout focuses on the important things in life...
By the way, that Brickhouse thing came to me because I played in a house band for a jam session with the very great Nikki Armstrong (who's been a regular at B.B. King's in NYC for some time).
The black guys would always ask me if I knew "Brickhouse" by the Commodores. I didn't really, but I always said I did and I faked it pretty good.
After a year of this, I finally listened to the song and realized that the topic was... a girl built like a brick shithouse. Gave me renewed respect for the Commodores.
LawHouse, obviously.
PhotoHouse.
WordHouse (Grammar, definitions, etc.)
MadHouse
And HouseHouse, for the hell of it.
Louis XIV said, "L'État, c'est moi."
You could could accurately say, "Le Blog c'est moi."
Madhouse Cafe
Shouting
Great to see you again.
Well, you could come out with a gourmet line of pancake batter and organic syrups :)
they have maple trees in Madison?
edutcher: "CultHouse"? Well, there would be at least one full time commenter on that offshoot.
With two similarly named blogs, Jacobson just has watch out for Insurrections lasting more than four hours.
How about a set of spinoff blogs calculated to lure away your more, err, single-minded commenters by playing to their obsessions? The first two could be Crackhouse and Birthhouse.
AltRant.com
AltAle.com
Alt-Atude.com
AltWisco.com
AltMeadianMusings.com
AltInterestingFood.com
AltMeadeTravel.com
AJ Lynch: Have you checked it out yet?
Also, how are you doing these days? I don't run into you much, virtually speaking, these days.
Maybe Alt-X? This is like your house, so it is yours?
While I do sometimes enjoy your take on the issues, Ms Althouse, to be frank, I come here for the conversation.
Which is undoubtedly spurred by your questions and viewpoints, so I admit the conversation wouldn't be here without you starting it.
But if Meade did MeadeHouse, or AltMeade or something, and he worked hard to invite most of the regular suspects from this blog to also comment there, I would enjoy going to both places for conversation.
But I guess my main question is: why would you want to expand?
Reader:
Yes I have checked it out. I have added the Keystone Report to my favorites list because it is a very good aggregator for news about Pennsylvania.
I am doing very well - thanks - just hit 60 this summer- hard to f-ing believe.
How are you and the family doing Reader? Did you get back to Delaware this summer?
alt.house
remember the old internet newsgroups? the entire alt hierarchy?
or am I dating myself?
Paul A'Barge queried,
"or am I dating myself?"
That would be AltNarcissism.com
FugHouse, where you can show off your saddle shoes with long skirts fashion.
RoadHouse, where you live blog your road trips with the ghost of Patrick Swayze along for the rides.

AJ Lynch: Happy Belated Birthday!
We are doing fine. We were back in Delaware for a few days just a couple weeks ago to visit and to pick up our son (as you may recall, he attends a camp run by relatives every year). The wild thing is that through an unusual confluence of events, coincidences and Lord know what else, those few days turned out to be hugely eventful, since it now looks as if we didn't just pick up a son during that trip but most likely also picked up a house! We'll know for sure in a few days, but it's possible we'll be back out in mid-September for settlement.
So I guess the shorter answer is: We are doing fine, but feeling a bit dizzy!
--house?
You could affiliate with Crack and be Crack-house.
Or go elegant and classical: Palladian-house.
Or a TV medical drama: House-house.
Sexual revelation: Out-house.
Or a bar: Meadehouse could serve the house meade.
Advice to wronged females: Louse-house.
Blah, blah, etc.
AJ Lynch: I'm a experiencing a brain burp, so I can't remember whether you used to hang out at Callimachus' blog back in the day, but I think you did. Anyway, if so, I just saw him on our trip East (I/we usually go visit him each summer). My husband and I met him and his wife at a restaurant in Kennett Square which features game meats (and yet was able to accommodate my vegetarian husband). I don't know exactly where in PA you are but if you're interested in that sort of food, you might want to check out the Half Moon Restaurant and Saloo on State Street. Really good, and it also features a kick-ass beer selection (not my thing, but DH and the Callimachuses raved over it). It has a website: http://www.halfmoonrestaurant.com/
Saloon, not Saloo
The best spin-off show* from Althouse is still Trooper York, IMHO.

*Meade's coinage, not mine.
Reader:
No, I am an Althouse regular-that is where I know you from.
AJ: THAT I did know, for sure! You are, longterm and how. You might like that restaurant, anyway.
MaltHouse: all things chocolate.
GaltHouse: Who?
FaultHouse: Bush!
-CP
Chip, I think that Ann is short for Jo Ann.
I like sexy blondes. (Who doesn't?)
Hothouse.
The subject of "alt.house" was discussed here -- a couple months into the blog, in 2004.
OK, now I'm giggling away at the menopase joke. Not sure why it's striking me as all that funny, but it is, as is that overall post with (/because of) all of its updates.
Paul,
"the entire alt hierarchy"
Oh, dear; then we'd wind up with alt.house.squirrels and stuff like that.
"or am I dating myself?"
These days nobody cares who you are dating.
