What's all the stuff in the water?
Lots of weeds and algae in the water for so early in the season. I hear they've already had to close a beach on Lake Waubesa due to cyanobacteria blooms.
Yay.
The lake looks well nourished. It's all that accursed runoff. A river runs through it. Reap the harvest. Dry it and burn in that titanic power plant. Sell the ashes back to the farmers.

I have never been, but I think I would like Wisconsin. Maybe I will visit your fine state this year. It seems to have developed a certain glow lately - a kind of light. To this outsider, Wisconsin is like a run away stagecoach that some level-headed souls have just wrestled back under control. I might like a ride.

Holy Hill on Washington County, Hogsback Road, twists turns and huge drop offs on either side, lots of rusty cars and dead bodies in the gullies.
Used to ride on the back of my boyfriend's Harley at great speeds on that road, pretty scary.

Lovers? Well when we wanted privacy we climbed down a steep bluff to a secluded Lake Michagan beach and made a bonfire, in Vermond State Park, in Ozaukee County.
The best frozen custard in he country, Kopps in Menomonee Falls, although some Madisonians say they have better frozen custard than we do at some little hole in the wall place they have, forgot the name .
Michigan, yikes how could I misspell that?!

Spent a Saturday morning on that road last August. Planned it three months in advance from eleven time zones away, but the tower at Holy Hill was closed for renovation so not much of a view. Had lunch on Main Street in downtown Hartford. My great great grandfather traveled from Beechwood to Hartford in 1864 with four other men from that village to volunteer in the Union army nine months before he died. His pastor lived just a mile or two west of Hartford.
There are some things in this interview that have always stood out.

Bagoh2O ... you'll find Wisconsin a very pleasant place. My favorite locales are in and around Madison, down to, say, Fort Atkinson. Otherwise, I'm fond of the Superior/Duluth locale on Lake Superior, and of course, Green Bay and outward as far as Kewaunee on Lake Michigan. It's not all spectacular (like mountains), but very comforting & satisfying in a rustic sort of way.
If you go, enjoy it all.

I'll add to the others who recommend spending a day or two at the EAA AirAdventure in Oshkosh. It is marvelous for pilots and non pilots alike.
Last year thay added an aerobatic display flown after dark, with flames on each plane, and napalm-like explosions and flames along the runway. Incredible!
Forget ice cream. You need to seek out forzen custard - a Wisconsin speciality.

Wisconsin has some very nice trout water which you can pass on the way to even better trout water in the U.P.

And get crapped on by a seagull.
There is oil under the Great Lakes. Also record size Whitefish. Not under the lake, obviously, but under the water. During WW2 they built submarines and mine sweepers on the shores of Lake Michigan. You can take a tour of a submarine in Manitowoc. There is even an aircraft carrier sunk in it's fresh water depths.
"Green Acres is the place to boat, green algae always help you float."
Progressives have the worst lakes in the state. There's a much nicer lake just east of Madison, Rock Lake in the nice town of Lake Mills.
Don't forget Door County and Peninsula State Park, some of the best views of the state. Ride the ferry to Washington island. Stay in a Bed and Breakfast in Ephraim, then go to a fish boil in the evening. Try some of Door County's cherry wine. Oh yes breakfast at the place with the goats on the roof, have Swedish a pancakes with lingonberry syrup.
My lake has no algae, has a beautiful view of the setting sun especially from the middle of the lake on the pontoon boat. A Wisconsin cheese and sausage platter and cold microbrews are always served.
Skinny dipping optional. Best done after dark.
Allie, Door County is one of the best places to visit. But, dear woman, fish boil and cherry wine? You're not having rum and diet creme soda for breakfast, are you?

Oshkosh. Go early, go often. Stay all day and top it off with an aviation-related movie on a gigantic inflatable outdoor screen. Last year they showed "Airplane!", complete with introduction by Robert Hays and a cardboard cut-out of Otto the autopilot.
Come to Madison to see the beautiful, unoccupied Capitol building. Avoid the lakes, though, they're disgusting in the summer. But definitely get out of Madison and see the rest of the state, which is for the most part a sane, nice place.
All the lake dwellers in Lake Country, Waukesha County, WI. must be pretty stupid to pay huge property taxes just to live in million dollar homes on disgusting lake property, LMAO. Those dumbass conservatives.

Yeah, those saps who payed a lot of property tax money into the school system your kids attended.
Well I don't really think they're saps, it's worth every dime of property taxes to live here on our Beautiful Lake. And my kids were indeed fortunate to have excellent schools!
Some may think our lakes are disgusting in summer, they just haven't seen my lake.
Of course, Summerfest! And all the ethnic Fests that come after, I recommend German Fest, of course. Mayor Maier, Milwaukee's most beloved mayor, Summerfest is his legacy.
I used to have cookies and milk in his kitchen served by his wife, they lived next door to my aunt and uncle only blocks away from my childhood home.

I don think for a minute my neighbors are stupid or saps for living on multimillion dollar properties. Again I was being snarky in response to her negative comment about our beautiful lakes.
Is that wedding Allie mentioned turning into a double? I mean, could one blog really be responsible for two weddings?
