Since you introduced us to Nina I have been following her regularly. It's like being in her suitcase so to speek, she presents her experiences beautifully, and the pictures are fantastic. Ernest Hemingway wrote a few books while living in Ronda and I believe that Orson Wells had his ashes buried on the property of an old Bullfighter friend in Ronda.
Come on you can't take Spanish culture and then demand American men behave like that. Also it's the height of arrogance to say that because American men aren't affectionate towards their mothers that somehow makes them inferior to Spanish men.
I lived in Spain for three years in the mid-1980's, and visited Ronda one cold winter Saturday on a USO tour. There are actually three bridges over the gorge; one at the very summit, two lower down. Orson Welles, as one of the commenters mentioned, is buried just outside town, at the bottom of a dry well, or so I have read somewhere. The bullring is small and charming, and houses a small bullfighting museum. A very charming town.
Beautiful place with a long and fascinating history. The photos are great - now I want to go back! There are also some well-preserved prehistoric paintings in a nearby cave. This area has been populated for a verry long time.

Been there. Quite beautiful.
Walking with family like that?
Normal there.
See it all the time.
Spain, great place to visit.
Lovely photo essay.
What a pleasure!

I think people don't move around the way they do here, so family ties stay more intact.
If the Church is strong there, it would add to that.
How sweet!
Between the two of them, look at the bags under his eyes!
I love to see young men who aren't afraid to show affection to their mothers. If I were dating a guy, I would look for that.

If a woman wants to see how a prospective lover will treat her, watch how he treats his mother.
Looks amazingly like the central California coast, but any ancient bridges there would have been imported by William Randolph Hearst.

Now there is a great travel blog, with photos. Thanks Anne for spotting that one.
I've been there. I love Spain and this town epitomizes why.
