"Joe Kapp and Angelo Mosca get into a fight on stage at the 2011 CFL Alumni Legends Luncheon in Vancouver."

"It appears there is still some Bad blood between these two after a controversial hit on the field nearly 48 years ago."

Who starts it? Kapp, who hands Mosca flowers, or Mosca, who replies "Stick it up your ass"? Kapp, who re-offers the flowers, right in the face, or Mosca, who clobbers him? I blame Kapp, because those are insultingly scraggly flowers.

Joe Kapp was the Vikings QB during the 'Purple People Eater' era.

Joe nearly took the cane to the head in that clip, then landed a nice punch to his rivals face.

Once a Purple People Eater, always a Purple People Eater.

Well done Joe.

Aint 'senior rage' a beautiful thing???

अनामित म्हणाले...

Wow, he really stepped into that right to the face, and down he goes!

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

I don't know anything about Mosca, except that he's a paisan. I know Kapp was a ham n'egger qb and my daughter can throw a better spiral than Kapp.

Don't Tread, the Purple People Eaters were a great defense. Having bozo qb's like Kapp[also a horseshit actor] is the reason you losers have never won a Super Bowl.

James म्हणाले...

Doesn't matter who's right or wrong but once Mosca swung that cane he should have gotten his ass handed to him.

AllenS म्हणाले...

From Wiki --
Angelo Mosca (born February 13, 1938) is a former Canadian Football League player and professional wrestler. He is also known by the wrestling nicknames King Kong Mosca and The Mighty Hercules.

I knew wrestling was fake.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Now, having watched the video, Kapp is not only a ham n' egger, he's a shithead. just watch the tape and ask yourself who had more class?

Woodhaven Residents Block Association म्हणाले...

Those flowers were from the centerpiece on the table.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

Your 'paisan' Mosca had his fat old ass handed to him by a 'bozo' QB...

I can't address your calling Vikings fans 'losers' - I'm guessing you are a Jets or Giants fan?

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Yeah Don't Tread..he kicked a crippled old man's ass. Are you stupid or blind? Couldn't you see the crowd's reaction and then the phoney contrition by Kapp @ the end. Even the ignoramous knew he fucked up..but obviously you don't. Mosca was there to pay tribute to players having a tough time and Kapp was there to do a lounge lizard D grade stand up act.

Don't Tread, I bet you could kick Stephen Hawkings ass!!

Bob Ellison म्हणाले...

Another controversial hit!

sakredkow म्हणाले...

I really want to get into a personal bitchfight over the fight between Kapp and Mosca, who I never heard of.

Don't try me.

ricpic म्हणाले...

Boys will be boys...to the end.

Guilty...both parties.

sakredkow म्हणाले...

It was very clear who owns who from that video.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

ndspinelli

LOL fair enough!!!

If you're gonna swing the cane, you better be prepared to wear it.

The bad blood on display goes back many years. It is indeed too bad that Kapp went out of his way to be a dick, but its funny nonetheless.

So, are you a Jets or Giants fan???

sakredkow म्हणाले...

And speaking of bad hitters Ron Lyle died yesterday or today. There was someone who could hit.

Humperdink म्हणाले...

I am old enough to remember Joe Kapp being a scrapper. Don't anything about Mosca until I read where he injured Kapp's teammate in the CFL championship game.

Good scrap for two geezers. Kapp looked like he's been in training for this, Mosca not so much.

Bartender Cabbie म्हणाले...

Thanks. It is good to start off the day with a chuckle.

edutcher म्हणाले...

No different from women celebs.

When Bette Davis worked with Joan Crawford in "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?", there was a scene where Ms Davis had to beat Mommie Dearest with a poker or some other blunt instrument.

30 years earlier, Crawford had seduced Franchot Tone, to whom Davis was engaged and with whom she was madly in love, so when the opportunity arose, Bette let her have it for real.

madAsHell म्हणाले...

Win one for the Zipper!!

Controversy seems to follow Joe everywhere!

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Well Don't Tread, I grew up a Giants fan. Moved to KC and was a Chiefs fan. I was a beer vendor @ Arrowhead. When we moved to Chicago I became less involved w/ teams[maybe being in a city of losers had something to do w/ it] and more a sports fan.

When we moved to Wi. in 1983 I just couldn't understand the religiosity of Packer fans. However, I grew to respect the discipline of the organization and the quality[athletic and otherwise] of players they signed. I go to 2-3 Packer games a year. I want them to win, but I don't have a bad day when they lose. I am one of the 10-12 fans in the stands not wearing green/gold.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

I was @ the Monday Night game. I think Ponder could be the best qb ever in Minnesota. But your organization is the antithesis of the Packer organization. They sign average athletes and horrible citizens.

As an aside, we were just up visiting our daughter in The Cities for Thanksgiving. The rumor is Joe Mauer may have MS. That would be horrible. The Twins organization is one of the best in baseball..Vikings one of the worst in football. And why did you cheap fucking Norwegians build a baseball park w/o a retractable dome?

AllenS म्हणाले...

spinelli, this is for you. You can get it through The Althouse Woman's Amazon link.

Imagine Kapp had extended his open hand absent the flowers. By offering his empty hand and inviting his one time adversary to grasp it, it would be perceived that he had taken the moral high ground and wanted to settle their differences.

But by extending the same hand, only this time it contains a couple of puny flowers, it's rightly taken to be an insult.

A space alien not familiar with Western customs and conditioning who obvserved this would probably struggle to understand why one human being offering something tangible to another human being is an offensive insult, but extending an open hand containing nothing is considered proper etiquette, honorable, and deferential.

Steve M. Galbraith म्हणाले...

Too bad Kapp didn't throw the flower at Mosca.

Wouldn't have come within 20 yards. Probably hit someone in the audience.

The whole incident never would have taken place.

Revenant म्हणाले...

Yeah, I blame Kapp too.

John Holland म्हणाले...

Mosca was the local sports superstar in Hamilton, Ontario where I was born. Hamilton has a big Italian community, and Mosca's team, the Tiger Cats were arguably the best in the league at the time(Mosca took the Ti-Cats to 5 Grey Cups and won 4). Then Mosca retired and got into wrestling, which in those days was one of three things retired CFL players seemed to do. The other two were (1) open a bar, and (2) make TV commercials for your brother-in-law's used car dealership. I think wrestling paid better, but all those years on the gridiron and ring have crippled Angie up pretty bad.

I suppose if I had to choose which career to have, it would be Kapp's: Grey Cup, Rose Bowl, Superbowl, then a long stint as coach of the BC Lions.

Angie was always a big thug with a short temper, and Kapp was an arrogant asshole. Gasoline, meet fire.

David म्हणाले...

Down Goes Mosca! (Who can't take a joke.)

Is Vikki Carr still alive? If so, somewhere her heart is pounding. She and Kapp were on the Carson show in 1970, and Carr was so hot to trot with him that she practically undressed him on the stage. It was quite remarkable.

Kapp still looks pretty good. Since Favre is not longer available, the Vikings might ponder bringing Joe back for the remainder of their unhappy season.

William म्हणाले...

Mosca didn't fight fair. He tried to hit Kapp with his cane.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

John Holland. Thanks for the background on Mosca, and I think you got it right w/ the assessment..

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Thanks, Allen..but I'll pass. The only team apparel I've ever owned were baseball hats. The one I like the most is my SF Giants cap. That's primarily because I think they're the classiest in my uneducated fashion knowledge. I did have a KC Royals t-shirt as a gift back in the 70's.

AllenS म्हणाले...

spinelli, it's more than just a sports apparel object, it could save your life someday.

1775OGG म्हणाले...

Dear @Nds..... (Whatever the F%&$ that's supposed to mean!): The primary reason the Vikings became the ViQueens is because their coach didn't think it was his job to motivate his team during the SuperDooperBowl. Plus, for the team's last S'Bowl, his Offensive Coordinator (Genius that he wasn't!) decided to totally redo the playbook; why for goodness sakes since that team did very well during the year!

However, Kapp's Viking team was a bunch of real scappers. During a team party (Maybe at Kapp's house) Kapp got into a real brawl over whether he or another tough guy was tougher (Each said the other was tougher, so they swung at each other, go figure!). This scene was documented by our now current senator's sportswriter poppa back in his drunken days.

So, yeah Nds..., gloat and I hope your F'ing bunch of losers continues to lose. As for me, my "see ya much later" sign is ready for when the Vikes relocate to LA; the sign will contain only NSFW words.

OBTW: Roman G. was a worse actor! Joe Willy, even worse, totally stunk out the stage, especially in his commercials; ugly!

A. Shmendrik म्हणाले...

True dat. Scraggly flowers are an insult of the highest degree. A beautiful bouquet, properly and tastefully arranged, with a sprinking of baby's breath, and this would have gotten off on the right foot.

Steve M. Galbraith म्हणाले...

SM Galbraith wins the thread and shows his age with his comment below:

Kapp was (sorta') before my time - I was exactly eight when he played for the Vikes in the Super Bowl - but I do remember reading that he wasn't exactly known for his passing accuracy.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

So much for the idea that Canadian is a religion of peace.

Kapp did himself no favors with his story at the end.

William म्हणाले...

Joe Kapp's limber frame is a testament to the defensive prowess of the Vikings during those years. However, the behavior of both men demonstrates the need to develop better helmets to shield the brain pan of football players.....This video also demonstrates the stark inequality of professional football. The QB gets the Victoria Secret models, and the lineman gets the crutches. Who can blame Mosca, after all the indignities that life has handed him, for trying to take some of his own back with a late hit. Those privileged backfield players need a few moments of pain to show them that life isn't all custard and glory.

mtrobertsattorney म्हणाले...

I must have missed something here. I thought Knapp and Mosca were just demonstrating how best to avoid a quarterback sack. And nothing more than this.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Oldgrouchcranky, I would add "rambling" to your name list. And I would put it first, Ramblingoldgrouchcranky.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Allen, Funny link. However, I think I'll take my chances w/o a cheesehead. If I die, at least it will be w/ dignity

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Ramblingoldgrouchcranky, I stayed in a Grant Park condo for Thanksgiving. My friend who lives there says Al Franken is a resident. Was his old man a sportswriter?

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

Franker's old man died pretty young according to Franken's tearful fondness for soc sec survivors benefits.

Toad Trend म्हणाले...

Not a true Vike fan by any means, I go with another loser, the Buffalo Bills. The Vikes were my fave as a kid cuz' I liked the purple uni's.

I knew you were either a Giant or Jet fan (formerly!)

There is no way I could kick Steven Hawking's ass. Too many broken fingers due to the wheelchair/sip and puff hardware.

1775OGG म्हणाले...

@ndspinelli: What the F&$#, did you fall on your head? Or did you forget and crack it when somone said: "Open that melon?" You just got a history of what was once the best pro-football team in history not counting S'Bowls and you now claim you can't comprehend shit?

Yeah, that once drunken reporter is the non-Franken non-male, Senator's, father; you might be able to figure that one out! Don't know if he's still drinking but he's still taking up living space recently.

Ok, I give up, you're actual spinning Elli's. Must be a Jet's fan thing.

I'm Full of Soup म्हणाले...

Speaking of the Vikings and Super Bowls, I am an Eagles fan and am now wondering how many of the older, established teams have never won a Super Bowl?

Eagles, Vikes, Bills, Lions, Bengals, Falcons, Chargers, Seahawks, Cardinals? that's nine...are there more?

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

AJ, Franken's survivor benefits story is about his wife's family. Her dad died when she was a kid.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Can defensive linemen and QB's ever get along? Mosca resorts to using a cane to the face and gets a right cross as an answer. Kapp was a prick with the flowers and Mosca was a prick with a stick. The Cal Bear was the last prick standing - Go Bears.

ndspinelli म्हणाले...

Ramblingoldgrouchycranky is J's syphilitic uncle. He taught J everything he knows about being a riddler and about STD's.

1775OGG म्हणाले...

Ah, the commenter crowd is getting to be a tad bit surly of late! Must be from that strange influx of Giants' fans! Pity!

Wonder Woman म्हणाले...

Kapp is an ass. Mosca interpreted that he was getting egged on and it looked like his swung his cane but didn't mean for it to hit as hard as it did. I am stunned that someone Kapp's age would hit a human like that. Shame on you Kapp...disgusting.

Wonder Woman म्हणाले...
