"Who are these people who live in Manhattan expecting peace and quiet? New York is loud, dirty, and fabulous!"

Who are these people who need to sleep at night and object to human feces on their doorstep? New York is loud, dirty, and fabulous!

"two protesters exposed their genitalia to me.

But that's not illegal, is it?

That's democracy!

Why is this lady afraid of facing democracy by genitalia in action?

The appropriate response, in NYC style is for the observer to place the thumb and forefinger two inches apart after the viewing and raise it to the others within the nearby area :)

a vocal statement of "2 inches, you putz..." is optional

The oppressed chick in the middle has expensive clothes, expensive hair and and an expensive drum. You will likely find her in Scarsdale in a few years.

As they say in Madison, Wisconsin: "This is what democracy looks like."

I thought that was Bill Clinton that said that.

Shouting Thomas म्हणाले...

I left work on Friday, and walked right into this protest on Vesey Street at Ground Zero.

Matt Sablan म्हणाले...

Oh, it's only a little public defecation, noise and indecent exposure.

It's not like they're rich, Jewish or bankers -- You know, the REAL bad guys who just can't stand a little good natured public defecation and drum circling.

TWM म्हणाले...

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Giuliani make New York less dirty - and dangerous - which made it more fabulous?

The current Mayor not so much what with bedbugs and OWS exhibitionists, thieves, rapists, and public defecators all the rage there now.

Matt Sablan म्हणाले...

TWM -- But Giuliani is a Republican, QED, whatever he did is bad.

'wow- it's like a penis, only much smaller'

And I read the OWS-ies are going to Philadelphia to hold a convention.

Neo-statesmen of incomparable junk.

One if by Amtrack, two if by Jet Blue.

An comeback opportunity for Anthony Wiener; they are his unnatural constituency.

AllenS म्हणाले...

Cowards. What are they afraid of?

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

That is wrong.

NYC is not now,and never will be, based upon a lack of boundaries.

It is the Wall Street and commercial private property boundaries that create and sustain NYC and all of its wildly diverse cultures bubbling at boiling point in the National Melting Pot.

The NYPD will make this clear shortly.

Incessant drumming and public peeing and pooping isn't the way to make friends and influence people... At least in a positive way. it can, however, cement a reputation of being inconsiderate jerks.

Bloomie and the PC Demos are going to get a lesson in Venckman's Law real fast.

I would have thought hysterical laughter.

I don't see how "loud and dirty", in addition to crowded, unhealthy and dangerous: translates into fabulous.

Jane the Actuary म्हणाले...

will the protesters leave at the first snowfall? Maybe. Or maybe they'll bring in trailers and generators and demand self-righteously that the city allow them to heat their encampment.

CatherineM म्हणाले...

Ugh, I hate those people. After 20 plus years in Manhattan, the smell of dog pee, garbage water, the subway....yeah, fabulous. A woman who yells at me when she runs from in between cars then almost in front of my car, not expecting another one in the second lane down 37th street at rush hour. I hate a-holes that think that's what makes NYC fabulous.

Let's take NYC back to the Dinkins years!!!

There is a quote by Kurt Vonnegut, I can't find it, but the gist of it is that for a certain kind of a person, a depressive, the constant tumult of New York is a barrier that keeps depression at bay, the tumult isn't life but it's a substitute that keeps the blues away. That's what "New York is fabulous" means to those who'll put up with anything not to have to face themselves in Peoria.

Junkies using my doorstep as a bathroom was a weekly if not daily event when I lived in San Francisco, and there was no Occupy movement then to cause it. That was in the Oughts.

It's a POLITICAL LIFE!

Bloomberg had to spend more than anyone else ever did just to become mayor of NYC. He thought he'd barrel himself into the White House from there.

Not quite!

The decisions to allow a private park to "host" this mass movement ... which is funded by billionaires. And, "used" by the media to attract to it some attraction ...

Is going to be very costly to the dumber-crats. Not that many people like the "street defecation." Lots of New Yorkers are forced NOT to enjoy AUTUMN. Which, when winter comes ... will put an end to a lot of this nonsense.

Remember this: You can't do this in Central Park!

What will ultimately be the cure to Liberty Park, AKA Zoo-cotti?

How likely the fancy lighting and the "gardening" ... will get pulled out?

Maybe, the building's owners will set up a cement "ancient Greek style" theater? Where you get various levels to the park's surface. And, you can watch the "drumers" who come back having to compete with traffic?

This "Occupy" bullshit ... is NOT housing New Yorkers! It's fly paper to bums from out-of-town!

And, there's been "free food." And, "free clothes" that have been provided.

Meanwhile, if you were a tenant in "that" building ... are you renewing your lease?

You can't create a massive movement from half an acre!

The solution? One way or another, just around the corner. Pray for rain. And, heavy snows.

Steve M. Galbraith म्हणाले...

Just need to have Travolta make "Saturday Night Fever II" and it's the seventies redux.

Speaking of which, Travolta's movie about the talking baby - "Guess Who's Talking" - grossed more than $275 million.

Yeah, 2 and 7 and 5.

Carol_Herman म्हणाले...

There's another way to look at this demonstration!

Compare it in size to the public that stood in line for days, waiting by the Apple Store. For the New iPhone.

Five drummers take pee breaks. And, they're not going 24/7.

In other words? YOU. ARE. LOOKING. AT. HYPE.

Don't be suckered in.

You can't live in New York City for free.

And, what remains unknown ... are the people who live in mansions ... who are gifting these idiots money!

If this didn't piss off Bloomberg, yet, it should!

It's a toss up if Bloomberg or Tubbs are the most incompetent of men.

Carol_Herman म्हणाले...

HAIR.

It's not just the stuff that grows on heads. "HAIR" was the name, once, of a musical on Broadway. When it ended the whole chorus line was there, singing, while naked as jay birds.

Instead of going home, some in the audience also disrobed.

The show was NOT closed down!

New York does seem to thrive on nudity, after all.

Now, if you want the "OCCUPY" to fail ... a few dudes exposing their putzes ... won't build up the crowds. That's almost by definition.

Behind closed doors, meanwhile, architects are coming up with ways to make the "half acre" less accommodating to tents, in the future.

One way?

You could add sprinklers to your garden area.

Or, you could build a semi circle of hard seats ... like the old Greeks did ... when they built their theaters.

As long as you leave a walkway for pedestrians.

You could even put up the building materials ... where buildings are being renovated ... and, at street level ... pedestrians are forced to walk in single file.

Do the "occupiers" have you fooled that there are no solutions?

Carol_Herman म्हणाले...

High triangular zig-zags ... with trees inside them.

Would also "solve" ... where do we put our tent encampment, tonight?

I'm sure, too, Zucotti and Company have added PRIVATE security. Cameras. And, what not. Just to make access into the building ... to those who work inside. And, who've been tagged.

IBM wasn't the first company to do this, ya know?

If politicians didn't really anger the populace ... (usually just one individual at a time,) they'd never been tossed out of office!

Richard Dolan म्हणाले...

The OWS groupies are pretty easy to ignore. But they are making a mess and, after three+ weeks, have overstayed their welcome by a lot. Everyone else who would otherwise be using the same space has been displaced. Even Bloomie is getting to the point where he's had enough. These folks are about to discover the 'time, place and manner' limitations to First Amendment protests in the public square. About time.

I'm guessing people with jobs and kids. But maybe that's just me.
