Did you see what they were catching?

Very nice, Meade.

That is peaceful. Still water at sunset.

Shalom.

Meade has made some good choices at this stage of life. He has a fabulous wife, lives in a fabulous city (if you ignore the east side) and he can bike down to the lake shore and drink a cold Miller Lite on the Union Terrace at sunset.

And fall is coming. The best time of year in the upper Midwest.

Mmmm, Miller Lite. (Ok, just kidding about the Miller Lite)

Lol, MarkG. Thanks, Col, trad. Nope, Fred. Next time.

Try the ocean. So much more fab.

Sal বলেছেন...

Titus is homesick already. I could see that a mile away.

When I was in La Crosse I saw two old guys smoking Luckies on the dock behind the hotel. They were catching sunfish, using worms for bait. They said they catch them all morning and then they go home and have a fish fry every day.

Not a bad life. Not bad at all.

Flatliners.

And I will stand by this recording as one of the best pop singles ever.

Put that in the google image search.

So... I had my first round of tests (the half-midterm ones?) and I'm hoping that the sunset isn't symbolic.

I can FEEL that my brain doesn't work like it used to. It's sort of upsetting. I'm accustomed to something less... foggy. I'll have a 96 from one class though, so that's OK. But tomorrow I'll find out what sort of disaster happened in algebra. I hope that everything that seemed well, was, because I simply forgot the main formula for solving quadratic equations, and my brain works so effing slowly, like clawing my way through mud.

I don't know if it's better or worse this way, not being brilliant at it, but I truly enjoy doing the math. It's beautiful, malleable, fluid, and sharp. A page full of numbers is esthetically pleasing. And I don't have to deal with anyone's opinions and how they are always wrong.

Synova, did you go back to high school?

Nice pic, more wintry than autumnal, but it catches the fact Fall is here.

I know how you feel. When I went for my CS degree, I had to take a lot of math all over again since I hadn't done any serious math in 30 years.

The biggest revelation - you can do logarithms in something other than base 10?

Yeah, the brain has to fight harder the older you get.

I can only wonder at Miss Ann. I'm just a couple of years older, but the lady is still sharp as a razor.

Let's talk about sunrise, or better, lack thereof. It's after 6 in the morning and it's dark outside.

AllenS বলেছেন...

Ah, I hear rain drops.

Synova বলেছেন...

"Synova, did you go back to high school?"

Seriously?

This is me. Not taking CS but taking the math all over again after almost 30 years.

AllenS বলেছেন...

Synova,

There's no math involved teaching law students.

ndspinelli বলেছেন...

There's a math/creative writing course that is required for all law students. It's called creative billing!

Seriously?

After all the years of commentary by Synova on this site, you ask her this? Wow. Just wow.

"Hey, long-time-commenting former-military conservative-leaning adult, I see you're talking about struggling with classwork and test-taking. Are you finally going for your GED?"

Think Deeper, Ann. Even a provincial, condescending, liberal academic like yourself should be able to figure out the right answer to your own question. Eventually.

MadisonMan বলেছেন...

Seriously?

I take that as a compliment on your youthful appearance.
