Is Huntsman about to get McCottered?

He can't seem to hit the threshold — 2% in the polls — for inclusion in the next debate. That's what ended the candidacy of Thaddeus McCotter.

Maybe he'll drop out and instead challenge Obama for the Democratic nomination. But I don't think his talk about eliminating the corporate income tax is going to be popular over there.

He can't leave soon enough. Put his face next to "RINO" in the dictionary.

Huntsman doesn't drop out. That was never why he was placed in the campaign to begin with.

Huntsman is a front for the Dems, set up first as a spoiler for Romney, and then, if and when Romney dries up, to run as a 'third party' candidate like the fake Tea Party candidates the Democrats have been bankrolling, to try to bleed off some of the independent and 'moderate' (Dem-Lite) GOP vote...

I think he could get the Dem nomination.

Thaddeus' first name ended Thaddeus.

Since Michael Moore is praising Huntsman he's probably better off challenging Obama.

Huntsman is more a University President type than an American President type.

I like the guy, but then I am weird like he is.

He can play the piano at Herman Cain's Inaugural Ball.

So's Obama. Woodrow Wilson - another authoritarian 'progressive' - is the role model for such beasts. We've had two too many of them, and it's about time to elect someone who takes supply and demand seriously, and isn't in the office for a sinecure.

What do debate rules matter anyways. Fox included Gary Johnson, a loopy libertarian who had no ideas that had resonance but excluded McCotter, an also ran who had just proposed a serious social security reform plan. Johnson was better television. http://tiny.cc/c166c

I agree with lavrenti lenin about why Huntsman keeps skating into the debate scrum. He is a moderate who proves a good foil for Romney and could credibly fund a 3rd party candidacy which would have the effect of re-electing Obama.

It's telling that the NYT commenters refer to Huntsman as the only sane, reasonable, or smart GOP candidate.

What will CNN do if Obama hits 2%?

What Big Mike, lavrenti lenin (love it), and James said.

He's a little too eager to trade on his term as GodZero's ambassador to Red China, of all places.

I like Huntsman - in fact, he's one of the few GOP presidential candidates I do like.

Sadly, at this point in the game, I think you need something outrageous to say. You need a sound bite.

Huntsman, and McCotter just couldn't find their sound bite.

Sarah Palin has sound bite to spare, but I'm afraid that may be all she has.

Along with any other Republican that believes evolution is true. And/or didn't grow up munching hushpuppies at a MegaChurch picnic.

Easy litmus tests!

"Along with any other Republican who believes evolution is true. . ."

You know, gruppenfuhrer, if you can point me to any of the declared candidates who "believe" in creationism to the absolute rejection of Darwin, I'll eat my hat.

"Easy litmus tests!"

You mean like your slapping the label "Israel ball-washer" on any candidate who doesn't want the Jews driven into the sea?

The only partly sensible proposal Huntsman had was getting rid of the corporate income tax. Other than that, he was a worthless left-wing toady. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Pragmatist म्हणाले...

What is up with the incessant "debating"? I know the media has an aggenda to get the Reps mainstreamed ASAP but do we really need 24/7 elecioneering months before the traditional start of the campaign season? Jeez, thank god for the DVR.

No, that is another litmus test. Any Republican that talks about their evangelical religious duty to do as Israel wants, defend Israel even if destructive to US interests - Expresses a willingness to take on new wars like one with Iran "because Our Special Friend" wants us to?
They pass the non-RINO litmus test.

Santorum, Bachmann, and Perry all pass with flying colors.

Hah. But he's the candidate of the "reasonable Republicans" that the media likes so much.

They'll find a way to keep him. He's a good foil.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

Huntsman needs to get out of there.

Huntsman is the GOP primary pick for those who have no intention of ever voting for the GOP in the general.

Theme to Welcome Back, McCotter

Welcome back,
Your themes were your ticket south
Welcome back,
Those lame poll numbers got you laughed out
Well the debates have all changed since you stood your ground
But this game is still played by those more renowned
Who’d a thought they’d heed youse
(who'd a thought they'd heed youse)
Back here at the Meadhouse.
(back here at the Meadhouse)

Yeah, we tease him a lot, cause he never had a shot
Welcome back ...
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back.

Obviously he has no place in the party.

When Obama gets 4 more years I hope political principle keeps you idiots warm at night.
