Like I said, If There's One Thing I Can Say About NewAgers It's This: They've Got Bigger Balls Than Horses.

I can spot from a mile away the product of the D50 and its lens. So worth lugging around. Thank you for taking it out.

I'm waiting for my phone to ring and have Tom tell me that the Jeep frame is sandblasted and ready to be picked up. The temp is warm enough for me to put a coat of primer on it outside. I've decided to paint the Jeep body, frame, axles, transmission... poppy red. It's a 1965 Ford Mustang color. My first car was a white 1958 Chev Impala convertible and I did a lot of body work on it and when I had it repainted, poppy red is what I went with. Looked pretty sharp with those wide white sidewall tires.

My 1968 Mustang convertible was a bright red and it developed purple spots all over it, allegedly from Los Angeles smog.

Here in the mountains, my apple trees sprouted leaves then we had another 6 inches of snow last weekend. They seem to tolerate it OK. Spring is coming.

The enlargement is fun, showing at least three of the cases to be cracked open.

So much potential.

Power packed.

Ahhhh..., magnolia!

The scent reminds me of the genteel days, the days of grace and nobility, before all this rancor and hatred, before we fired on Fort Sumter...

I've been using it a lot but not so much with that lens.

I drove a 1961 Chevy Impala convertible when I was in high school.

Paying $$$$ for the privilege of being suffocated in a sweat lodge. I am not sure I would call it balls, but these New Age gurus are almost always sociopathic grifters--from Tony Robbins and Depak Chopra, to L. Ron Hubbard, to Jim Jones and seemed obsessed with separating them from their money. And their weakness tends to be hubris. They pray on the weak minded. Ray just managed to actually kill a few people, otherwise he would still be out there bilking them.

I notice there is very little in the papers or on TV about the budget compromise or the Libya campaign, so I take it that there is a consensus opinion, that if there were no winners on the budget, Obama still lost, and his adventure in Libya must be about lost. Wonder how the Brits and the French, not to mention NATO, are going to take to being inveigled into this and then abandoned by perfidious Washington?

That said, I am enjoying spring and looking forward to summer.

A 58 Chevy is a pretty rare car. Many of them were in the junk yard within 18 months. I had one in the mid 60s that was ready for the junk yard but I kept it going for a few years. The 58 Chevy was the first car I ever saw anyone paint bright yellow with a sign saying “Lemon” on the sides and back while it was still brand new. It was the worst car I ever had until the 74 Vega—Car and Driver's car of the year. I'm off Chevies now.

Poppy red is more of an orange color. My 58 ran good. When I put retreaded snow tires on it, I could go anywhere in the winter. You had to put the top down my hand, the pump that ran the operation never worked, and I even put another one in that I got from the junk yard. Worked once, then nothing. 61s were way cool.

This 1980 Jeep that I bought has a Dana 30 front axle, a four cylinder AMC (Chev) engine, a Borg-Warner Ford transmission that was used in 1975-79 Mustangs, a Dana 300 transfer case then finally an AMC rear axle. Chrysler owns Jeep now.

Ann,

Why do I picture you driving around, frantically turning the radio dial, in a desperate effort to avoid Soul music?

Don't feel bad Crack. Cause you know the weed she had in the glove box?

She got it from a Negro.

Of course, EVERYONE knows all about “them”…….

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

"Why do I picture you driving around, frantically turning the radio dial, in a desperate effort to avoid Soul music?"

You don't turn a dial on the radio of a 1961 Chevy. You have the stations preset. There was WABC and that was basically it. Maybe WINS. It was AM radio in the car back then. We had an FM radio in the house. I liked WFMU in East Orange, New Jersey.

Ann Althouse বলেছেন...

I put up with whatever Cousin Brucie was playing. I couldn't drive until 1967 though. So, back when "Cry Baby" by Garnet Mimms was a hit, I was not driving. I was 12.

Don't picture me fooling with the radio while my mother or father was driving. They never played the radio in the car. It just wasn't done. Adults concentrated back then.

'She got it from a Negro.

I grew up in a small town that only had a hand-full of Blacks. They were nearly all good kids. It was us crackers that did all the drug work and were the hoodlums. As a minority, I guess you need a certain population to facilitate getting ghetto.

MamaM বলেছেন...

Easter Eggs!!!

I found them.

First one.
Then another and another.

Oh look, there's more!

As fast as I can click and run, another appears

What a portal!

Enough fecundity, hanging berries,
pulsing points, beckoning blooms,
feathers, wings, claws and young'uns

To make the day
If not the season.

Wow.

For eyes that see
Minds that delight
The means to preserve
The willingness to record
The ability to savor
And enjoy
What is present

I say thanks!

bagoh20 বলেছেন...

Troop, yea I remember, but I was just relating something it brought to mind: That Blacks in my home town were the upstanding ones, and maybe that was because there wasn't a "Black community" of them to call anybody on "acting white." Times have changed, and now you always go to a brother for the da kind.
