"Ann Althouse may look like your typical law professor, but she's much more than that."

"Althouse has been writing a popular eponymous blog since 2004, where she posts photographs along with biting commentary on law, politics and pop-culture. Her site, which promises to eat 'intellectually inert brats for lunch' attracts 500,000 monthly visitors, including some suitors. In 2009, Althouse made headlines in the blogosphere and even The New York Times after announcing her engagement to a commentator she met through her blog. Who needs dating sites?"

From MSNBC's "Who's Who of Political Bloggers."

I wonder if they know what brats are?

(Man, that's an old picture. I don't even remember that jacket.)

I guess how typical law professors look has changed a great deal since I was in college.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

@DADvocate I know! That was my reaction. Must be that jacket.

Who's who of boring and/or shrill lefty bloggers would be more accurate (except for AA and Malkin of course)

All of a sudden I'm afraid to come here.

What does a "typical law professor" look like. Obviously not like this

jungatheart म्हणाले...

lol, yes, how many readers think brats means kids? Great pic.

The Althouse Blog Woman eats spoiled children.

Automatic_Wing म्हणाले...

I thought your typical law professor was supposed to look like John Houseman.

अनामित म्हणाले...

how many readers think brats means kids?

At least one.

Ralph L म्हणाले...

Too bad she doesn't sound like John Houseman.
MSNBC thinks she's related to Meghan McCain--must because they're both blonde chics.

Scott M म्हणाले...

brats like rugrats or brats like the edible German type?

I'm definitely of the former, only sometimes of the latter.

अनामित म्हणाले...

eponymous? Someone got a new word of the day calendar.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

So Professor, you've been included in an MSNBC piece on significant bloggers that's predominantly left of center. Are they suggesting you belong with the other left of center bloggers?

And if no are they putting you in one of the following two "easy to understand for lefties categories of right wing blogs"
1)the shrill right winger (i.e. Michelle Malkin)
2) the "not really right of center" blog but listed as such because they're "bright" or related to someone prominent in the conservative/Republican sphere (i.e. McCain, Wiegel)

Or am I reading too much into this?

TWM म्हणाले...

That "intellectually inert brat" thing is interesting. While I rarely comment, I read the comments daily and while it's obvious that most folks who hang out here are very smart, educated, well-informed, and possess wicked senses of humor, I've never really gotten an "intellectual" feel here. Especially from Ann.

Frankly, that's why I keep reading.

Scott M म्हणाले...

Define..."wicked"

Automatic_Wing म्हणाले...

Too bad she doesn't sound like John Houseman.

That would be...disconcerting.

TWM म्हणाले...

"Define...'wicked'"

Hmm, too subjective . . . one knows it when one hears it I suppose.

I like it better when you wear your hair down. I suppose that is not a very intellectual comment, but there it is.

Now, I wants to go eat me some tasty Rose Bowl themed sausages.

You look a little like Christine Lahti in that pic.

Taranto uses it all the time. Probably got it from there.

Are those a favorite of tailgaters in Green Bay?

Congrats! nice to see you getting some acknowledgment.

Brats are the oppisite of hacks. Or so I have been told.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

How many people read 'brats' and don't think delicious sausage?

Even when I read parenting blogs and saw the word brat, I'd hear it in my head as brot.

William म्हणाले...

I think that it's fair to say that Althouse is infinitely cuter than the average law professor. That said, Playboy will never do a pictorial on Law Profs of the Big Ten.

Isn't the "intellectually inert" part a dig at Andrew Sullivan for his recent idiotic rant on Palin?
