Ha ha ha! Thought bubbles!

Is that your fountain?

I like it.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

It's a fountain at Olbrich Gardens.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

I want one. My wife really wants a fountain. That looks like a good one.

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

I have to go wee.

Pretty, but I was disappointed; I thought those were little baby ducks swimming there until Ann moved in.

Ann's probably seen this, but maybe it would be a nice birthday gift. We could pass the hat, starting with House and garage...

PS If you like portents, the law of averages, or whatever, consider this little aligning of the planets: today in 1900, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and Sophie Chotek were married; on the same day, in 1914, they were murdered, triggering the events which began WWI; same day in 1919, Germany signed the Treaty of Versailles.

June 4 is a similar date for WWII.

I think I've pondered this mystery before:

Why does a water fountain bring us serentity, but a similar noise coming from a toilet with a loose gasket eventually drive us crazy?

Brian म्हणाले...

@EDH:
A water fountain is peaceful because it's nature. Even when it's man-made.

A toilet running though makes you think of the water bill.

Needs more Firefly.

अनामित म्हणाले...

It all looks so nature-y and peaceful, but most likely is powered by electricity. Thus, this useless tableau, which exists solely to soothe pampered humans, adds to the ravaging of the planet through global warming.

Also, I didn't find it soothing. It reminded me of a large fish chasing a smaller one, looking for a meal.

Back when we lived in Maryland I bought my wife a prefab lily pond so we could enjoy a little fountain and some water lilies and goldfish in our back yard. But then we discovered that you shouldn't have a fountain with your water lilies, and by then we enjoyed the flowers and the fish so much that we took back the fountain -- which had been the entire reason for setting up the pond in the first place.

There's a great place for setting up backyard aquatic gardens near Sugar Loaf Mountain in Maryland. Any other Northern Virginians or Marylanders out there? You might want to visit, but I'll bet you go home with a backyard aquatic garden of your own.

I love seeing the reflections of you and Meade in those bubbles. (That is you and Meade, isn't it?)

REAVERS!

I just finished watching that series for the first time (thank you Netflix!). It was good, but I can see why it got canceled. Even after 14 episodes, it was already devolving to soap opera.

Heretic! You probably LIKE the Alliance.

My sister and brother in law bought a house in St Paul that had a koi pond in the back, next to the swimming pool. They dug it up. If it were me, I would have kept it and restocked it. Feeding fish is more relaxing than floating in a pool.

A water fountain's splashing water emit negative ions that really soothe a human into a sense of well being. Breaking Surf at a beach does the same trick; and of course standing next to Niagra/International Falls is the most super soothing experience.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Here's what I think, and it has nothing to do with the fountain: My goodness, what good sleeping weather tonight!

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

There are a lot of new-ish commenters here that I like.

AST म्हणाले...

It drove me nuts trying to figure out what was in those plastic ball.
I won't sleep tonight.

Opus One Media म्हणाले...

why does sunset look amazingly like sunrise.

Fred4Pres म्हणाले...

scott, they should have expanded the koi pond and then floated in it. Win win.

Plus they could have gotten those little fish that trendy salons get to get dead skin off your toes. You know, like those cleaner fish on coral reefs (but a fresh water version).
