I love road trips and greatly envy your marathon ride. I hope pork skins and yellow popcorn are involved. Too cold for windows down, but maybe not w/ the heaters on full blast and road music too.
I grew up singing songs about the "MIGHTY Mississipp'".
I first got to see her seven years ago, and imagine my surprise that she looked mighty ordinary. Still lovely though, and quite like the view in this video.
Beautiful, you say? What a bland, empty landscape, all beige-y brown with a little blue thrown in to highlight the blandness of the rest. I've never been to that part of the country, but I think it would be improved by anything having character (a touch of vibrant color wouldn't hurt either), so it's not just a place to get through as fast as you can.
How about an oil refinery? At least it comes with an eternal flame (of sorts).

Where y'all going now?
I hope whoever is driving is not filming.
Welcome to God's country.
Heading on down to Harry "Yasgur's Farm" Reid's place, I hope.
I've never been on the Mississippi. Looks amazing from the air tho.
The sign should say, "The pigs of Iowa welcome you." There are more of them than people.

Where did you cross into Iowa? There doesn't seem to be a particularly good route from Madison.

I remember crossing over at the point of I-90 where it leads from WI into MN. Lovely sight. Glad to see you had an enjoyable time.

No, it's not Heaven ... it's Iowa.
Welcome to Dubuque, Ann. I crossed that bridge yesterday afternoon myself, on the way home from Platteville, WI. Hope you have a great trip.
On our way to Utah, across 80, we spanned Ol' Man River across from Moline, I believe. A great way to get a feel for the grandeur of the country.
Do it, go to Searchlight.
Afterward you can catch "O" at the Bellagio. Win Win.
Did you say you were in Iowa? You should really give Iowa a try.
Then again...perhaps farther west and south is better?
Crossing the Ohio Territories video.

I miss the old bridge. The one with the bend in the midle of it.
