That crack running downwards between the door frame and the wall could stand some touching up. A perfect use of blue painter's tape. :)

My first memory, no bull, is the memory of staring up from my crib at the afternoon light washing over the walls. And a very strong memory it is.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

The Republican "filmmaker" who did the ACORN attack video has been arrested for attempting to bug Sen Landrieu's office.

G. Gordon Liddy must be proud!

Crooks and liars! That's your modern conservative.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Please, conservatives, explain how it is moral to break the law to bug an office.

Hypocrites.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Alpha, could you link to a conservative defending the filmmaker's actions? On the face of it, I don't imagine many people will defend bugging anyone's office.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

here is the affadavit for these latest Republican crooks.

Look for not a word on this from Ann Althouse, who catapulted all the propaganda from this guy and Beitbart against ACORN.

Not a fair person, she.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

Freeman, I've been hearing excuses for the Watergate burglaries and other taps from conservative and Republicans for nearly 40 years.

You guys have already defended such behavior.

A CIA agent working on nuclear weapons proliferation was exposed by the Cheney Administration. You guys closed ranks and attacked her.

This very guy fraudulently edited the ACORN video to begin with and you guys defended him.

I could go on and on. Republicans think they are above laws and morals. That's very well established.

Beta Conservative म्हणाले...

How much Olberman do you have to watch to say such stupid stuff Alpha? If the kid is guilty of a serious crime he will be convicted and do the time and no conservative I know will lose a minutes sleep over it. Phone tapping is morally reprehensible.

I am particularly offended because I have been selling and installing business phone systems for the better part of 25 years and these guys are truly idiotic if the Affadavit is correct. I mean to try to fake out office workers in a Federal office building who have been on alert of 9 years now is dumb and dumber X 100.

I can still admire the work O'Keefe did regarding ACORN and condemn this. I mean, after all, Mary Jo would have voted for Ted we are told.

अनामित म्हणाले...

Why don't you wait for my explanation before you pronounce your conclusion?

The answer is because you have a burning need to condemn, and it doesn't matter to you whether the people you lust to condemn actually exist outside of your sick head, or not.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

I can still admire the work O'Keefe did regarding ACORN and condemn this.

Exactly.

Abit of a stretch to start invoking Watergate as evidence that conservatives are in favor of bugging people's phones.

... don't miss anything.

Lest say these are three stages..

Childhood where everything is big and full of hope.. prime adulthood, seemingly brief and a sort of gray area.. finally late adulthood full of memories and the ominous exit portal beckoning light.

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

As much as I like motherboards, "Abit" was a typo.

muddimo म्हणाले...

"Said Landrieu spokesman Aaron Saunders: 'Because the details of yesterday's incident are part of an ongoing investigation by federal authorities, our office cannot comment at this time.'"

If Sen. Landrieu doesn't have enough facts to condemn O'Keefe, then maybe we shouldn't either. If the affidavit is correct, he crossed the line and will not receive broad support.

Henry म्हणाले...

As for me, I see Althouse behind us.

I always thought the extraordinary resolution explored by the Esper machine flaunted common sense, but perhaps not. Resolution keeps multiplying.

muddimo म्हणाले...

And I don't know anyone who supports the Watergate break in. My recollection is that it was roundly condemned. Something about an impeachment.

AlphaLiberal म्हणाले...

So why is G Gordon Liddy, one of the Watergate crooks, a rich man due to the admiration of so many conservatives?

For starters...

I mean to try to fake out office workers in a Federal office building who have been on alert of 9 years now is dumb and dumber X 100. .

gotta agree with ya there, Beta.

Maybe con's just like the smarter crooks.

What *does* Mary Landrieu have to hide anyway???? That's the real story here.

KCFleming म्हणाले...

Gosh, and golly!
Dirty tricks by an investigative reporter!

Meanwhile, Paul Krugman calls Obama's plan for a freeze "appalling on every level ...bad long-run fiscal policy ... a betrayal of everything Obama’s supporters thought they were working for ...this looks like pure disaster".

garage mahal म्हणाले...

Pogo nails it. With the world crashing down around them, Democrats needed a distraction.
Clearly, some much needed context is called for here. The kid is young. And aren't liberals big on "nuance" anyway? More importantly, why won't Landrieu open up her phone conversations to the public??? What about the Hope and Change and new era of transparency????

KCFleming म्हणाले...

No, by all means, focus on a 24 year old bugging an incompetent lawmaker.

Call for a national examination of the trend.

Place a plaque under a tree, decrying the event.

Raise Awareness, garage!

Next: candlelight vigil!

Freeman Hunt म्हणाले...

Heh @ Pogo. The plaque was a nice touch.

AlphaLiberal: do you have a government cite for the claim that he or his friends were trying to "bug" her office?

I just read the affidavit. It doesn't say anything about "bugging" or "wiretapping", it only claims they were trying to "interfere" with the phone system. This is one of those things blawgers are supposed to discuss, but Insty and volokh.com just link to reports.

In any case, if anyone wants to do things in a perfectly legitimate and highly effective way that will raise the level of debate in the U.S., help promote this plan. I've been promoting that in vain for almost three years, and if Breitbart had followed it instead of posting tea party screeds and the like he'd have had a far greater impact than he's had. Of course, that plan requires people who aren't compromised, and it's difficult to find many people like that.

I hope it's not the same thing John Edwards has.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

If they did this clearly wrong crime, they should do the time, period. No excuses for good intentions. That's the difference with conservatives, real ones anyway.

I too appreciate the ACCORN work, but breaking the law like this, if they did, is just wrong and stupid.

LoafingOaf म्हणाले...

Isn't it still possible that O'Keefe could be charged with felonies in Balimore, too, related to his ACORN tapes?

garage mahal म्हणाले...

Can only imagine what their telephone repairman costumes looked like. That's the funniest thing from the ACORN sting - what the stereotypical pimp looked like in their minds.

Beta Conservative म्हणाले...

What the hell does "tampering with a phone system" mean anyway?

Brutally changing the button programming, deleting voice mail greetings so the poor users have to re-record them, chganging the night greeting to "Mary Landrieu be a bow-wow"?

The only tampering that's worth a damn is tapping and/or recording private conversations in order to make political hay or extort money, etc.

Even funnier was how the ACORN idiots bought right into it.

bagoh20 म्हणाले...

There still isn't much to this even if they are guilty. They aren't in any position of power. There is no corruption suggested, just stupidly going too far as journalists.

It's not like they made up a fake memo or something to change a Presidential election. They were after the truth not trying to create a lie.

Maybe we can get Dick Thornburgh to investigate.

I once witnessed an "investigative news team" from a major network market conduct what they thought was a great "sting." They brought faked paperwork into a DMV office and purchased disabled parking hangtags, on camera. They were applauded for their efforts, even though the fraud was what THEY did, not the actions of the innocent DMV clerks, who had nothing in the law that permitted them to demand additional proof of disability. So.. the clerk is doing the right thing, accepting in good faith some apparently legit paperwork, but the reporter, who had actually perpetrated a fraud (by producing fake paperwork and posing as a disabled person) is lauded for "exposing" some ... IDK ... something.

So, I guess the idea that we all are now condemning (or being encouraged to do so) Mr. O'K for what may/may not have happened, may actually be an incident in the model of celebrated media predecessors.
