"Schabhuttl wanted a roll. Egan, however, wanted him to eat sliced bread."

"'He said that when he refused, she attacked him with the steak,' reported Deputy Carmen Gallup, who noted observing slight redness on Schabhuttl's right cheek and the crown of his head. While Egan denied wielding the steak, she admitted slapping Schabhuttl several times 'so that he can learn.'"

Sounds like she had a bone to pick.

He should have shanked her.

Actually this is smart; hit him with a steak, that way there wont be any bruises!

Be kind to dumb people.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

It was a cooked steak.

Ann said: It was a cooked steak.

Nevertheless, meat-beating is still a misdemeanor

Her teaching style was leaves room for improvement. Next time she can use the two handed frozen leg of lamb from behind method and really get his attention.

That'll teach him.

A roll? The nerve of that guy.

He told cops that Egan, his live-in girlfriend of 16 years, struck him "on top of his head with an uncooked steak (approximately 10-16 oz.)"

Monday Night Raw

Of course, maybe Althouse likes her steaks really rare. I can respect that.

Maybe Tiger Woods asked for a roll on Thanksgiving.

Maybe she just wanted to tenderize it.

Where are the comedic heavy hitters? This is a slow straight-line, pitched right down the middle.

Jason (the commenter) म्हणाले...

Actually, in Florida throwing raw meat is a kind of greeting.

Didn't Tony Soprano get hit by a steak by his girlfriend.

Jason (the commenter) म्हणाले...

If they strap the meat to you, and tie you to a tree near a gator swamp, that is when you are in trouble.

I'm somehow imagining the guy still sitting in his chair wondering when she's coming home to do some cookin'.

When you're a hungry man, a roll only goes so far.

It seems to me from the photo that having to look at the defendant every day was worse than being hit with that steak. Think about how much better he must be feeling with her out of the house.

Synova म्हणाले...

Okay, so hitting someone is not okay no matter what.

OTOH, caregivers do sometimes snap... still not excused of course... but do we even know there was a roll in the house?

In any case, she no longer has to care for her terminally ill, disabled, long term boyfriend who is prone to demand rolls when she has made him a perfectly serviceable meal. Since it sounds like he does need care, someone else will be giving it, possibly an employee of the state, and see if he gets a roll then!

Synova म्हणाले...

I mean, really... the horrible woman had made him steak.

What a bitsh!

Synova made an important point. Egan knocked herself out to make her bf a nice dinner, and he still wasn't satisfied.

Let him see how far he gets cooking for himself

Synova म्हणाले...

I don't think it excuses it, but when I read that he was disabled I couldn't help but think of how it can get for *both* sides of that equation.

I once had to have a bandage replaced regularly in a spot I couldn't reach and it quickly made me completely nuts to have to rely on another person. I imagine that same thing but a magnitude worse and I can sympathize with having to take what you're given when you *can't* go get what you want instead.

There are good reasons that either of them may have reached a point where they gave into frustration.

Doesn't excuse getting violent, and there are certainly cases where a dependent adult is outright abused and we don't know anything about this case to say either way. For ordinary, and not all that uncommon, situations of being a caregiver or having to be cared for... I don't think that people often realize how difficult either thing can be.
