I have a possibly silly question.
The little girl is identified in the caption as "the daughter of Director of Advance Emmett Beliveau". What is a "Director of Advance"?

Gee, that wasn't posed. Where are the little girls parents? Oh yeah, hidden from the picture.
I would say he is an empty suit except he is so damn dangerous.
I think "advance work" prepares a site for a candidate or official to come in and meet the people he's supposed to meet, speak in the venue he's supposed to speak in, etc. An advance worker facilitates everything and makes sure everyone and everything is where they're supposed to be. At least, that's my impression. It makes sense for a campaign to have advance workers, but I wasn't aware the White House had them, too -- at least not that they would call them that, as to me the designation seems to apply to campaigns.
Cute pic, but I agree with MadisonMan. I suppose the photographer could have been cropped out of the photo, but that would have messed up the framing effect that the chest of drawers provides.
