I had a bowl of butter pecan ice cream smothering a piece of Martha's spice cake (wedding recipe).
Yum.
I like dogs.
They are a bit to high maintenance for me so I'm a cat person. But I like 'em anyway.
My wife and I just got back from our evening stroll thru the neighborhood which always includes a visit of Sammy.
He likes to bark a lot. But, if you wait just a few seconds - he runs and gets his ball and begs you to throw it for him. Ahhh The simple pleasures in life.
Until we get home and our cat smells my hands and disdainfully asks "Just where the HELL have these hands been?"
Yes, life is good.
My five dogs are currently finishing off their dinner: rack or ribs, 4 chicken breasts and one pork liver, all raw.
Me: a smoothie made from cactus pears grown in my yard, (a fridge full from an endless crop this year) mixed with vanilla cream, and ice. The entre'e: a large sourdough pretzel.
We are all quite happy. I love a Friday night. I bought a harmonica today.
Must be the waning days of summer, I had a bowl of Dulce de Leche ice cream and the last of the peaches for supper.

As a kid, perhaps my favorite on the ice cream truck was a cylinder containing vanilla and chocolate ice cream with a piston on a stick at one end that you'd use to push the ice cream out the other end where you'd lick or bite it.
Does anybody remember what they were called? Were they Ice Cream Rockets, Push Pops or something?
No clue EDH. I never licked your...whatever.
Although? I could think about that, sort of.

Best movie I have seen this year.
They're called "push ups". Used to be a nickel, now they are $1.25 off the truck. They don't taste nearly as good at that price.

Sure, it was an all star cast, but that's no excuse for the rushed character development. I just didn't care where the truck was going. I did find the Dylan score natural and compelling.

The first lady picked up a straw basket and headed for the "Farm at Sunnyside" tent, where she loaded up with organic Asian pears, cherry tomatoes, multicolored potatoes, free-range eggs and, yes, two bunches of Tuscan kale. She left the produce with an aide, who paid the cashier as Obama made her way back to the limousine."

I love when the dog, otherwise transfixed, checks on the camera holder as if to say, "Did you see that?"

Yesterday we adopted (rescued) a homless dog, Hamilton, a Coonhound/Doberman mix. He has the face and ears of the coonhound but the body of a Doberman. He's a very handsome fellow. So far the four cats are tolerating him pretty well.
My favorite ice cream is actually Moose Tracks frozen yogurt from Publix.
It's a little known fact that Bob Dylan writes Music for Ice Cream trucks.

Dogs of the Pit Bull heritage love any project with enough taskness to it.
Thurber had his Pit Bull growling and trying to bring a chest of drawers he had found somewhere in through the front gate.
My old dog used to do similar things. Eventually I figured out a way to train him to do this on command, especially to children's songs (don't ask me how I did this, but it worked); I got a kick out of asking people to "sing" for me & having my dog come running in the room to start howling along.
Dog are fun.
Cats are simply moving furniture.
