Was that St. Raphael's in the last bit?

State Street...that great street.

Aaaah. Home.

Boy when the fold your napkins in Madison, they don’t fool around.

Where's the cheese?

I told the blonde twist with the tenure that her money was no good here; the next one was on me.

I struck the match off my stubble and lit the can of sterno beneath the fondue pot, while I washed down that Swiss cheese with my fourth double-shot "cap", while she went out to shoot some flickers for MyTube, I think she called it with her "progeny", whatever that word meant.

The mournful sax played against the backdrop that told me that even though this wasn't The Big City, it was big enough for her, and I was alright with that, 'cause, hell, at least one of us was happy, while the other was full of bread and hot gooey cheese.

"Dames", I said to myself, taking a long drag off my imaginary cigarette, which they wouldn't even let me mime having here...

Nice. I love the sound of the wind blowing and then the sculpture that seems to be bending to the wind.

Where are the fucking people?

That city is dead man.

Don't you miss all the sidewalk runways of NYC?

TitusTimeClockofTheHeart म्हणाले...

Did you have a Friday Night Fish Fry, Beer Battered, all you can eat, with tater tots, and slaw and the all you can eat salad bar?

No, that doesn't sound like you.

The rare clumbers are snoring up a storm right now ready to catch the "fairy" to Fire Island tomorrow.

Ah, Goodman's Jewelers.

Does anybody remember the local TV commercials from the 1970s with Bob and Irwin Goodman singing their own jingle?

Has anybody been able to forget it?

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

St. Raphael's is off in the opposite direction (and still has the burned-out roof). I forget the name of the church showing here.

Holy Redeemer.

Last night on the Fox News show with Greta Van S. they had an episode about 13 unsolved murders in Madison. They appear to be done by a random killer. What's the buzz on this at ground level?

Trooper York म्हणाले...

I told you it was too dangerous in Madison. I think it was the infamous Cheddar Killer stalking the University town.

Mike म्हणाले...

@kirby olson

In the past year there have been 3 murders which are unsolved, not 13.

I watched clips from the report and, in my opinion, the report was sensationalist. The segment on Joel Marino being taken to a hospital further away was incredibly misleading. The reason he was taken to UW Hospital is that he had serious injuries and UW Hospital is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the city. St. Mary's was closer, but it is not equipped to deal with type of injuries Mr. Marino suffered.

Additionally, the suggestion of a connection between the crimes seems unsupported by the facts. The crimes are superficially similar in that they were likely committed by individuals unconnected to the victims, but suggesting a serial killer is on the loose in Madison is silly.

Speaking of amateur singers on State Street, I also remember a bar called Paul's Club, which was popular when I was a UW student in the early 1980s. It featured a real potted tree in the back, and Paul, the owner/bartender, would sing "New York, New York" on Karaoke at least once an evening .

Why is Chris so awkward in front of the camera?
