Ever been to a Coldstone Creamery ice cream shop? If you hit their tip jar, the employees sing one of a number of cute thank-you songs. Makes it easier for me to give them a tip in a situation that I think would rarely generate them.
Lordy be, MM - this may be a rarity, but I agree with you here. You've described what I've been unable to put into words, but has been on the tip of my tongue since my first visit to Coldstone. Thank you.
They sure don't compare to Meyer's, or even The Creamery, in scenic (and historic) Centre County.
MM: Your comment about Coldstone Creamery ice cream is exactly right. It's awful, and way too sweet.
Of course, my preferences are forever skewed because I had a cone at Babcock Hall once each week for about six years.......
True story: My wife traveled to China in 1984, when travel in China was still a difficult proposition. She was walking in the Imperial City when an elderly Chinese man spotted the Wisconsin tee shirt she was wearing, approached, and in very broken English asked "Do they still sell ice cream at Babcock?" He had been an engineering student at UW in the early 50's.
I have always been old school, so the only ice cream for me is Carvel from the old chain stores where you get a cone from the original machines Tom Carvel put in back in the day. Tom thought that ice cream was the way to go so when his buddy and fellow equipment salesman Ray wanted him to invest in a little hamburger operation, he blew him off because he knew ice cream was it. The other guy was Ray Kroc and the hambuger store was called McDonalds.
I wonder if Donnie Duetsch would put that on his show.
I've raised orphan bunnies and they're not at all grateful, even at the time. They'll accept an eyedropper of milk but you have to persist at it, until you wear them out, each time.
They want a puppy on the jar.
My Doberman cleaned off the spilt milk from each one that went back in the box, and that at least they accepted without complaint.
The best ice cream is at a place called Goldsmith's, in Missoula Montana. They make it themselves, and the place is open all year, and it's usually full.
Now, if you can fill a store by selling ice cream in Montana in January, then it's really good ice cream. And believe me, Goldsmith's is.
I remember in about 1961 or 1962 we used to jump in my uncle Buick and go look at houses on Long Island when my mom thought she might want to move out to the Island. It was boring as hell for a little kid, but my uncle told me he was going to take us to this great new place, a McDonalds drive restuarant. It was in Hempstead or Massapequa or something like that, I forget. Anyway, I will never forget. I had two Big Mac's a large fries, and apple pie and a strawberry shake. It was great. We sat in the parking lot eating in the car, a bunch of guineas just seeing the sights. When every one was finished we started to drive home. I made it all the way to Lynbrook before I puked that stuff all over the car, my family and the Belt Parkway.

Good service really inspires good tipping!

Also large breasts and low cut uniforms.

A nice tail is a plus.
I know, if we get them to wear bunny ears, maybe we can open up a club.

I think I would tip them not to sing.

I've been once. The ice cream there is absolutely disgusting. The mouth feel totally screams chemical emulsifier to me.
Help the barista buy a new nose ring!

And now you know ... the rest of the story.
I think I read that story in Tom Carvels book which was a great read and full of crazy stuff like that.
OW Houts and Starlite are closed, but Meyer Dairy lives on, thank goodness. That is stop #1 when I'm in Happy Valley. Far superior to the Creamery.
This is a different sort of "tipping." My wife and I keep a tip jar in the bedroom, and each time we make love ... it gets a 5$ bill.
That's how, for many years, we've been saving for a wonderful trip to celebrate a wonderful marriage on a major anniversary.
Why go out for hamburger when you have filet mignon at home ...

Use bunnies for kissing booths.
Trooper, that reminds me of my old story about Pop.

IN STRAWBERRY!!!!!!
My first unhappy meal.
Tipping?
I knew a moyel, once.
He’d never charge a fee.
He worked for tips.
Seems he sold wallets, on the side.
But if you rubbed one, it became a suitcase.
Requests for tips always make me think the staff isn't being paid enough.
