"Oh don't. Stop it. Stay true to your tradition. You're CNN. Don't do it!"

Angelina Jolie shames CNN.

(And now that I'm linking to Gay Socialites — which, by the way, promotes Hillary Clinton after each post — and because I've got the theme of masculine beauty and comedy going this morning, look at this — maybe not if you're at work.)

"Bonus question: Why do gay men love Hillary?"

Careful there. Exactly which subgroup(s) of gay men are you referring to?

I just don't want you to get in trouble with Titustutor.

Some of us don't love Hillary.

And John Mayer looks hot even in that outfit.

I know it's not all gay men, and I know my vantage point isn't perfect, but my perception is that Hillary enjoys some special support from gay men who are choosing among the Democratic candidates.

Even though her husband is responsible for DADT and DOMA.

Why do gay men love Hillary?

For the same reasons that they love Joan Crawford.

It's certainly CW that gay men tend to have an appreciation for strong women with a talent for re-inventing themselves.

On the other hand, Clinton lacks one of the chief characteristics of such women - she doesn't think on her feet particularly well or quickly.

I don't know if that generalized appreciation translates into political support though.
If so, she might just be seen as the best of a bad lot on gay issues - all the republicans are out of course and that leaves (at present) her and Obama, who talks the talk but has some very cosy relationships with some firebreating homophobes. I have no idea about how Edwards was on gay issues.

When Clooney was named UN ambassador a week ago, CNN ran that story to death...

And howzabout that In Touch mag. pay-for-pix scandal on Drudge...

Funny how all those Bauer mags all have the same teen idol on the cover....Same photo, too...

Strangely enough, most staight men think Hillary reminds them of Broderick Crawford.

Shameful confession : I have no idea who Angelina Jolie is, or why it would matter if she is pregnant.

Bob Schieffer briefly shows disgust with what networks are covering, but quickly allows that that's what ``people'' want.

You can't say the women, our listeners.

I fell in love with her after hearing my favorite snark from a politician this season:
Whatever happened to the politics of hope?

Of course, this affair ended when her husband started race-baiting before, during and after the South Carolina primaries.

Examples?

EXAMPLE: Like when Bill Clinton compared Obama's victory in SC with Jesse Jackson's.

I asked this question in a previous post. As a gay man, I voted for Obama and cannot stand Hillary. She's totally unelectable, and she is too much of a liar. Yet all of my gay male friends adore her, think she's "fierce" and consider her their "girl."

I can't figure it out...maybe they think she will support them and their cause? If that's the case, she's even worse than I thought; I don't want a candidate who is pandering to my "group" with empty promises just to be elected. After all, the President has basically very little constitutional authority.

She did release a long letter regarding her support of PFLAG, HRC (no, not herself, the Human Rights Campaign), and other gay groups.

When I ask my friends why they support her so much, their responses are vague and laden with the typical rhetoric about her "experience," but all in all, they really don't have any definitive reasoning. In short, they can't give me a straight answer.

You mean that Bill's implication that, like Jesse Jackson, Obama was a fringe candidate who appealed mostly to his fellow knee-grows?

titusmont বলেছেন...

I am a gay man (surprise, I just came out on Althouse) and I don't love Hilary. I don't dislike her though and didn't vote for her in NYC.

All of my gay friends love her. They all voted for her. I had dindin the other night and they all loved her and voted for her but didn't think she could win.

I asked them why they loved her and they told me similar statements that you would here some gays refer to why they love other women.

Their comments were that she is a bitch, strong, will fight back, has fallen and gotten back up (Monica), and is smart.

Similar to what I think some gay men think of other gay icons-Madonna, Cher, Crawford, Davis, Liza, Judy etc.

I did point out DOMA under Bill Clinton but for some reason that doesn't phase them. Obama even has the strength to mention gays in his speeches, some at black churches. You would never hear Hilary mention gays in a speech-too much of a risk.

Well, I am out of my element here, but I will guess that gay men love Hillary in part because she never gives them a second of heterosexual panic!

No mango moments from her.

This reminds me of something I've heard from people who vote GOP but aren't social conservatives. They've said things like, "Bush (1 or 2) has to play to the anti-choice crowd, but you know, Barbara (or Laura) is actually pro-choice." Maybe there's an assumption that political wives are always a bit more liberal than their husbands. In this case, Hillary gets the benefit of the doubt while Bill sells out his gay base.

dbp বলেছেন...

"You mean that Bill's implication that, like Jesse Jackson, Obama was a fringe candidate who appealed mostly to his fellow knee-grows?"

Yes, exactly!

Jesse Jackson is a race-hustler and Obama has really tried to trancend race. To compare the two is (and I think was intended by Clinton to be) a slander.

Trooper York বলেছেন...

Now Obama reminds me of Jamal Crawford. Let's see how he does now that he has to run the team.
