I see these in the water here in Louisiana, but the color in Ann's photo is much deeper, more purple. We drove past a long stretch of lavender water hyacinths filling a stretch of bayou this weekend. Right across the road from an oil refinery-a typical River Parishes scene.
I live in a lush, year-long growing climate, but I envy what I'm seeing in your photos, Ann. I grew up some in the Midwest and still have memories of scent and color of some flowers that just don't grow in the hotter climes of south Louisiana.

These are grape hyacinths. Very tiny.
