This is going to sound silly, but re the book (is that the Tribe tome?) and all the notes in the margin (marginalia!), I have a mental block against writing in books. I just can't force myself to do it, even in pencil, so I end up with postit notes and pieces of paper folded in. I have no idea what's wrong with me, it's just a book, it's my book, but something in me is very resistant to the idea of jotting down notes in a book. It's absurd, I have no idea what's wrong with me. LOL.

Bissage & I_am: Fascinating conversation.

Simon: You simply must write in a law school casebook. I get a new edition every few years. These things aren't meant for the permanent library, and I need to be able to find particular lines during class. In any event, I love marginalia. It reconnects me with my reading experience and thus adds value to the book for me.

Ann - I know it! And you may have noticed, I'm not someone who struggles to form opinions about stuff, so I do write, I just put it on postits and so forth. And I know it's helpful to write in the margins, because I do so frequently on law review articles - I just can't quite bring myself to do it in books! Maybe I have a lesion in my brain. ;)
