Truly: If I am envious, why am I portraying the scene as beautiful? There's a gap in your logic.
Truly: It's quite all right.
The gentleman in your first picture not only has shorts on, they are spandex shorts.
It is nice to see that there are still some young women who haven't marred the flesh on their lower back with a tramp stamp.
It seems like every woman I know under 25, and as a 38 year old man I don't know that many, has an ugly ass tatoo in that region.
That one guy isn't wearing socks and I can see the bottoms of his feet.
Indecent.

Maybe somewhere once there was. I went out to the rim near here to memorize a passage from Ecclesiastes. "All the rivers flow down to the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the place whence the rivers came, thither they return again."
And they've been beautiful and romantic for a long time, Ann. My grandmother and grandfather met on those piers, or ones nearby, about 60 years ago when they were U. of W. students.

More to the point: when will Althouse reveal the answer to the Barbie mystery? I want my ego massaged. Or, failing that, to at least find out what the right answer is.
Janet: I already did. In the comments to the post. The official Mattel answer is: Sorority Meeting. The official Althouse answer is: lunch with President Kennedy.
Sorry, Ann, I managed to miss it. (And here I thought I'd read all the comments.) I'll just go massage my bruised ego myself, I guess. I thought the Barbie looked black (or at least Mattel's version of it 40 years ago), hence my answer.
