No "Brokeback" joke lack.
The movie has inspired lavish praise and humor. Is some of it offensive? Probably, but now is an uncool time to be thin-skinned about humor!

I've jockingly refered to the movie as "Bareback Mountain". The funniest part about it is that most of the people I say it to don't even notice.
Was I supposed to take offense when Leno made fun of Clinton and Lewinsky?
Nick's joke hits home with me - every time I see "Brokeback Mountain," my mind thinks "Bareback Mountain" (and. after that, "Andrew Sullivan"). Go figure.
"I've jockingly refered to the movie as "Bareback Mountain"."
Jockingly? Paging Dr Freud!
I've taken to making jokes about the man-woman relationships in other movies I hear about. You know, because a man and a woman, having sex, having problems, being fulfilled? Come on! Laugh riot material! Or about as funny as "Brokeback" jokes.
It's really too bad that anything would remind you of Andrew Sullivan.
I think the proper spelling of the joke is "Bareback Mountin'"...
I was going to make a crude joke about Brokedick mountain, but I fear retaliation and threats from gay muslims.
To paraphrase Althouse, Goesh, this is no time to be thin-foreskinned.
Nothin' like some stand-up comedy to prick everybody's sacred cows.
Probably, but now is an uncool time to be thin-skinned about humor!
I don't think my opinion makes a (cough) vast difference, but I don't think it was ever cool to be thin-skinned about humor, was it?
"Brokeback Mountain" becoming "Bareback Mountain" is just part of a long tradition of taking movie titles and giving them a pr0n spin. Thus
Forrest Gump => Forrest Hump
Three Men and a Baby => Three Men and Your Sister
Usually good for one laugh at best, and then everyone gets on with their lives.
There's a Brokeback mashup for Top Gun, also, but I guess that didn't take much work. And there's a Fight Club mashup that reworks the trailer as a romantic comedy. I think it's linked to from boingboing.net Funny!
I thought most of these were lame.
The Broke Mac Mountain clip was funny though.
Bareback Mountain. Boy, that's just crazy funny. What next? A man dressing up like a woman and lip-syncing Gloria Gaynor's disco hit "I Will Survive"? Outrageous!
Hey, I'm only "jocking".
"I've taken to making jokes about the man-woman relationships in other movies I hear about. You know, because a man and a woman, having sex, having problems, being fulfilled? Come on! Laugh riot material! Or about as funny as "Brokeback" jokes."
Cause, you know, there are no movies that do that. Make fun of men-women relationships. Except maybe "You've got mail", or "Something about Mary", or "Bringing up Baby", or just about every comedy every made. And, no one has ever made fun of "serious" movies before either. That's just not done.
Yes, that is said, but the truth is that the best comedy is laughing at yourself.
To the person who doesn't get the bareback ref - bareback is sex without a condom.
More specifically, barebacking is (male on male) anal sex where the top (penetrator) doesn't wear a condom. I think usage has spread somewhat to cover heterosexual anal/vaginal intercourse as well but that's the original meaning.
Judging from the kinds of comments ms althouse and readers come up with, it's probably better to be specific about these things.
