They're frying the animals.

Hilarious, but he is obviously deliberately luring his antagonists to display homophobia.

To see the homophobia display by Trump antagonists, read the responses to this video, here, at X.

ADDED: "This post got my 'homophobia politics' tag, and I clicked and looked back to see where that went. The original post that motivated me to make the tag was 'Emerging trend: Democrats insinuating that Republican politicians are gay ('I'm saying this is a trend to watch, because I'm seeing the second example of something within one week'). That was something that was going on in 2014. Remember? I didn't."

Why is that in quotes? Because I wrote it back in February 2020, in a post titled "You know I think Biden's new anti-Buttigieg ad is homophobic." And I'm using the tag again today and finding it interesting, again, to go back and see where I have used it before.

AND: Here's Trump critiquing the press for excerpting the very thing I'm saying he knows they're going to excerpt and means for them to excerpt (and I'm crediting him with cleverness for setting multiple damaging traps and having fun with it):

"I'm really good at real estate and fixing things. I fix things very good..... I always build beautiful and inexpensive.... I can do it naturally.... It actually relaxes me...."

"If you would have seen the White House...  it was in horrible condition.... The plaster was falling off the exterior.... They had four or five windows where literally the ornamentation was up on one side and had fallen off or half fallen off in the other. And I fixed it. We made a mold of the good one and we put it on the other one and we got it all beautiful. And then we skim coated with an exterior plaster that's phenomenal. The entire exterior with the best artisans you've ever seen.... The White House is now in better shape than it was in 1792, when it was built.... Look, tell Obama the following: The White House is a symbol of America. And when it's dirty, filthy dirty and broken, when the windows are cracked, when the exterior monuments — they call them monuments on the outside — when they're good on one side but missing on the other side of a window, people notice that... 20 years ago, I came into the White House and... I said, 'Man, this place is in bad shape.'... It's been a long time... and I made up for lost time.... And I didn't take any time. I'd literally do it when I walk home from the Oval. I'd walk I'd look up. I'd say, 'Boy, that wall is really bad. Let's go. We got to fix it, fellas.'... And I would try and explain that to a guy like Obama, but he wouldn't understand. He doesn't he doesn't understand the White House has to be clean, pristine, beautiful. It can't have cracks in the column. It can't have big blotches of stone laying outside on the ground from 30 years ago.... Nobody loved it like I do. Nobody loved it. And now the White House is in beautiful shape...."

"The Horse-drawn Carriage in New York City is a quintessential New York experience. So sad that, for political reasons, we will see it go!"

Said President Trump, quoted in "New York City Passes Horse Carriage Ban, Ending a Central Park Tradition/A passenger’s death in June became the impetus for the City Council to ban the practice, but the bill will likely face a court challenge before being implemented in 2028" (NYT).

I don't see the "political reasons." It seems as though the ban is precisely about the subject of the ban, the safety and ethics of using horses this way in New York City. Weighing the pros and cons produces a difference of opinion and one side had the power and therefore got its way. I see no basis for saying there was something "political" as if the real dispute was about something else.

Was it "a quintessential New York experience"? Yeah, it probably was. Best seen from a distance though. Did I ever do it? Yeah, once. In the 1970s. Not recommended.

"And I said, Sundar, I'm thinking of the Atlantic Ocean. Can you handle it?

It's almost like he's saying he was always joking, and sometimes they do what he tells them to do.

"She wasn’t a member of my family. She, I guess, dated my son a long time ago."

Said Trump, about Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was engaged to Don Jr. from 2020 to 2024.

Trump's cold distancing is quoted in "'Honey Please’: The Steep Rise and Sudden Fall of Kimberly Guilfoyle. President Trump cut her loose after damaging news reports about her tenure as ambassador to Greece. Once a prominent Trump insider, she suggested she will now fight to defend her reputation" (NYT).

Ms. Guilfoyle was a Trump insider with a prominent role in the family and its political operation. The president’s swiftness in firing her showed his willingness to cut off anyone who becomes a liability and an embarrassment. But it also left her with little reason to remain loyal to the president and his family at a time when Mr. Trump’s political authority is ebbing....

Her stint in Greece is over. It served its purpose:

"We’ve got the gulf. We’ve got a beautiful lake... We need a river. We need an ocean. We call it 'Trump Ocean' or, or, 'Ocean of the Americas.'"

"Something like that. Before I get out, I think we should have an ocean. And we need a great river."

Said You Know Who, quoted in "Trump suggests ‘Ocean of Americas’ as new name for Atlantic or Pacific/The president also floated the idea of naming an ocean after himself" (WaPo).

I see the use of "float" to humorously carry the water theme, but is there a verb for "suggests" that could also be about water?

Now, I think the President is just toying with us. One clue is that name "Ocean of the Americas." That's a New York City joke,  isn't it? "Of the Americas" is so awkward, it must be intended as a reference to the long-derided renaming of 6th Avenue as "Avenue of the Americas." WaPo left out the "the" in its headline, but Trump said "Ocean of the Americas."

"I don’t know about anyone else, but a table full of very distinguished people just told me that they HATE, immediately after a mandatory time change, going home at night – and it’s DARK."

"It’s depressing! One of the gentleman stated that, 'I just hate going home in darkness.'"

Writes Trump, who seems to believe Daylight Saving Time is a valuable political issue.

Who cares about the delicate feelings of the distinguished gentlemen arrayed around Trump's dining table?

Who were these guys? AI billionaires? I'm more concerned about children forced to get to school in the morning while it's still dark. Guys in their cars feeling melancholic... that's not a hot political concern.

And as long as I'm reacting to Trump's Truth Social account, there's this: "If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate in the 2026 Midterm Elections, I’m going to give all Adult Citizens in the United States of America, $5,000. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to signing those checks!"

Just awful.

"Is that a racial stereotype I’m not aware of, that Hispanics are good at surviving long falls? Although for a man who started out labeling Hispanics as murderers and rapists, to end up at 'bouncy'...."

Said Jordan Klepper, who, I guess is a comedian, quoted in "Late Night Is Stunned by Trump’s New Stereotype/The president told attendees celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at the White House to watch their step while touring the unfinished ballroom: 'Only a Hispanic could survive that fall'" (NYT).

Yes, I see, he's on "The Daily Show." Okay, then: comedy. How do you do comedy on top of a Trump statement that is already completely weird?

Seth Meyer also had a go at it. He tried: "You’ve gotta be a platinum level racist to come out with stereotypes no one has ever heard before." And: "'Only a Hispanic could survive that fall'? Are you thinking of cats?"

If it were your job to write a joke based on "Only a Hispanic could survive that fall," what would you say. For the record, I think Trump's "joke" is racist. It's like a comment based on the notion that black people have a special ability to toil in the hot sun. The idea is that they're physically adapted to a job they are stereotyped as doing.

"The spot is the latest in a series of pro-Trump ads funded by public money."

"Some ethics experts have argued that the Trump administration is violating federal laws banning the use of taxpayer dollars for propaganda, and the ads have drawn criticism from both parties. The most recent ad, one expert argued, is a more flagrant violation given its prior use in the political arena."

Trump posted the ad at Truth Social, here.

"As a special treat in honor of President Xi and Madame Peng, I’d like to invite everyone in the room to visit through that beautiful curtain in the back door."

"It’s all lit up and looks beautiful. It's one year away from completion, the new ballroom that you've heard about, and you will see something that you will really love. Presidents have been trying to get this built for 150 years that I can tell you that, tonight, if we had it, we would have had way more than a thousand people, standing room only, and this room has about 145. That's about it. So they've been looking for this for over 150 years. All Presidents. And they will shortly have it. So, in honor of you, you’ll be the first people to step foot on that, and we’ll do that maybe after we’re finished with the entertainment tonight. Anybody who wants to walk into a construction site that’s nice and clean and sparkling, it’s our honor to have you do so, but this is in honor of President Xi, Madame Peng."

"'I am the code,' Trump said."

I'm reading "'I am the code': Trump clashed with ballroom architect over safety issues/James McCrery II resigned in October after warning that the president was insisting on designs that violated fire and safety codes" (WaPo)(gift link).
White House renovations and construction are typically handled by federal agencies required by law to comply with nationally recognized building safety standards to the “maximum extent feasible,” unless doing so would present a national security risk. But Trump’s White House construction projects are being routed through the Executive Residence, a tiny office that is not a federal agency and is therefore exempt from rules governing agencies.

"Trump pledges $5,000 ‘dividend’ to all US adults if the GOP wins the midterms/It was not immediately clear how the plan would be financed."

Politico reports.

Is that, like, a satire of what Democrats do?

Here's how he put it: "I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000, very much like a successful company will do a cash distribution to its shareholders or like last year when I gave our great members of the military $1,776."

I remember getting thousands of dollars during the pandemic....

The White House is taunting.

"Ken Paxton, you might not like the way he dresses, and I say this, it's so insulting to him, but I might as well say it."

"You might not like the way he looks. You might not love his look.... But he was the best Attorney General in the country, perhaps... and that speaks a lot louder than the suit he’s wearing that doesn’t look so great. Or anything frankly."

"I have just been informed by the United States Navy that all mines have been removed and/or detonated from within the International Waters of the Strait of Hormuz."

"Iran has been notified that any ship or boat placing new mines will be immediately and systematically destroyed. Through Space Force, we are watching every square inch of the Strait, as we are, also, with Pickaxe Mountain and the already destroyed three other Nuclear sites. There is a Zero Tolerance policy on mine placement in full force and effect. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

Writes Trump, at Truth Social.

So that means we won the war?

१२ ऑगस्ट, २०२६

Trump said we could just "bop along" in Iran: "We could just keep it alone, and they’re going to fail. We could just keep, you know, doing sort of just like nice and easy, relaxed."

Quoted in "Trump floats ‘easy, relaxed’ Iran war phase focused on hurting regime’s economy: 'I’m their banker.'"
“I’m sort of negotiating. You see, they’re very devious negotiators because they’ll agree to something, then they’ll go out and tell the press that they never agreed to it. They’re very dishonest people.”
“We have three strategies,” he declared.

"The White House is the People’s House, and under the Constitution’s Property Clause, Congress exercises plenary control over the building and its surrounding land."

"The White House is also the centerpiece of President’s Park, a National Park stewarded by the National Park Service. According to the government, as the oldest public building in the District of Columbia, the White House is the crown jewel not just of President’s Park, but also of the Lafayette Square National Historic Landmark District, a site listed for preservation in the National Register of Historic Places. The founding architect of the Nation’s capital, Pierre L’Enfant, designed the capital city’s layout to focus on the towering Capitol building—the gleaming palace of the people in the new democracy—and to contrast it with the simple humility of the White House.... Each President is a temporary tenant, not the owner, of the White House and its Executive Residence.... Over just three days in October 2025, without undertaking promised consultations or obtaining Congress’s permission, President Trump bulldozed the entire East Wing in order to construct a massive, 90,000 square-foot ballroom paid for by private funds with no congressional oversight...."

I'm reading National Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States v. National Park Service, the new decision from the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

Trump's reaction, at Truth Social:
