Still not funny. Interesting thing about winning a major sports championship. While the city that wins is all agog for months, the rest of the world has forgotten it by the next day. I've noticed that over the years living in various cities. No one outside of Wisconsin even remembers there was a World Series this past week. I say this not to be evil. I just find it a kind of odd thing. I remember when the Tigers won their first WS in some 23 or so years and we thought the entire world was celebrating with us. Or when the Red Wings finally won a Stanley Cup...again- we thought it was the first thing on everyone's mind. Nope. No one outside of the state cared a whit.
So...enjoy it, Wisconsin. We've moved on already, but we're happy for you. And at some point you'll stop celebrating. But never lose the feeling or memory. It is a great thing.
SNL is still not funny, however. No matter the topic.
Talk about forgetting, I was in a barbershop in Orchard Park two weeks ago, and I asked if anyone could remember any Bills QBs between Jim Kelly and Josh Allen. There was dead silence, and then someone yelled out "Tyrod Taylor". I think he is still playing with the Packers.
"SNL - who tunes in, still? Boggles." I was just contemplating the longevity of that show. If I'm not mistaken, it's been on the air uninterrupted for over 50 years now. A comedic television program that has spanned 3 generations and showing no signs of stopping is remarkable. Comedy doesn't usually carry over that way, young people don't typically laugh at what old people think was funny on television. What are the longest lasting comedians/programs in television history? The Jack Benny Program ran on radio to television from 1932 to 1965, then in semi-annual specials until he died in 1974. The Red Skelton Television Show had a 20+ year run from 1951 or so until 1971, which began in radio in the 1940's. Lucille Ball had 3 different programs from 1950's to mid-1970's. Other than those three, most comedys don't sustain across decades- The Honeymooners/Jackie Gleason only aired for one season. Maybe it is the ever-changing cast that keeps it updated and attuned to the passing generations. If it was still Chevy Chase and Jane Curtin, no kids would be caught dead watching it.
SNL is college humor. I remember college life as incredibly fun and profoundly stupid. I wasn't there for the right reasons. Luckily, back then, it was cheap. I had a girlfriend at school for a short time who was an amazing specimen of tall blonde athleticism, who was also incredibly bold and attracted to risk, which was more fun than any man is entitled to. I also had a motorcycle (Suzuki 750) that weighed over 500lbs. I came out of class one day and she was sitting there on my bike waiting for me. She never rode a motorcycle before, but thought it would be fun to surprise me. I jumped on the back and we took off into the western Pennsylvania woodlands. I started out on the Dean's list for a couple years, but stuff like this distracted me right off it.
Is SNL's longevity really so remarkable? Lorne Michaels recognized that comedy teams and sitcom casts eventually break up, so he took care to replace cast members as they went off on their own. The Second City troupes in Chicago and Toronto acted as "feeder schools," and then other companies like LA's Groundlings got involved in training new cast members.
Moreover, television likes zombie shows like "Today" and "Tonight," "60 Minutes" and "Dateline." They can churn on for years, and SNL has been doing the same. Actors can want move on, and viewers can get tired of any "situation" in a comedy show, but SNL goes on and on.
I don't why people keep pushing the idea that SNL isnt bad, its just aimed at young people. Its always been aimed at young people, and it used to be funny. Its not "new vs. old" its "Good vs. Bad".
People still laugh at charlie chaplin and Harold Lloyd. Yes, things change. Jokes about your mother-in-law or the phone company don't work anymore. But great/good comedy talents last.
The two people in that clip don't have much talent. Go pull up John Belushi or Chris Farely and compare. Pull up Norm or Dennis Miller and compare to the unfunny anchorman.
My parents didn't get SNL because its a big jump from Bob Hope and Dick Van Dyke to John Belushi and Bill murray. In content its not a big jump from SNL 1980 to SNL 2026. Even though its been 46 years. Jokes about politics, drugs, etc.
2 things amused me: making fun of the head-patting challenge and telling Christian Yellich he looks like Pete Davidson.
Of course it amused you.
You get to look down on all those white men who enjoy sports and make your coddled life possible.
Imagine if that were a black man.
Imagine SNL or Ann being amused by SNL making fun of useless women in HR, Teaching, DEI or any of the other bullshit jobs made for women like the one she held all her life.
If SNL started making fun of the beautiful Ann would stop watching.
Keep shitting on white blue collar men and see how that works out for you.
Maybe the amazon delivery guy will get your orders to your house faster.
I don't why people keep pushing the idea that SNL isnt bad, its just aimed at young people. Its always been aimed at young people, and it used to be funny. Its not "new vs. old" its "Good vs. Bad".
Its demographics don't reflect young people. Young people don't watch TV.
You know who NEVER forgets sporting championships? Irish GAA fans. My friends there would speak reverently about some guy who won two all Ireland finals back in 1956 and 59 when his name just happened to come up (he was a director at a company we were visiting). This last summer Mayo beat Kerry in the men's final and I never saw so much sporting enthusiasm in my life. Apparently the Mayo team was cursed by a priest after they passed funeral procession without stopping back in the early 1950s after winning the championship. He said they would never win again until the last member of that team was dead. This was their first final since the last man died. The entire stadium was in tears.
'But IN THIS HOUSE WE BELIEVE… we do love our Yellich, Turang, Murphy and all the boys because this season they made Baseball great again' they really did Meade. I hadn't watch baseball in decades, just seemed so stale.I grew up with Vin Scully on the radio, calling balls and strikes for Sandy Koufax. I watched a bit of the first play off game with Tampa. Was blown away at the style of the Brewers, and how young and competent they are. I hope to see more of them this coming season, pending the lock out etc.

SNL - who tunes in, still? Boggles.
Funny for the first time since 1979.
I guess maybe that guy on the right is supposed to be obviously fake and annoying.
That guy on the left makes it look like acting drunk isn't all that easy.
...the truth, it will come from the lips of a Christian.
A Christian Man.

Not all the time. Remember the NE Patriots "dynasty?" A large portion of the country hated them for years.
Jacob Ruppert Jr., owner of the Haffen Brewing Company, says "hold my beer." Under Ruppert's ownership, the Yankees won 10 World Series.

Temujin, I'm with you.
I made it through 2:30. A weak one-concept joke interminably dragged out for 4 minutes.
That was awfully low effort.
2 things amused me: making fun of the head-patting challenge and telling Christian Yellich he looks like Pete Davidson.
That went right over my head.
I withdraw my comment. I couldn’t understand a word that guy slurred. He sounded like that drunk Ohio governor candidate.
The target audience of SNL is 17-25 coastal liberal elites.
I see that Dave Begley has sobered up and is back to form.

Because they kept winning for years.
Da Bears
Behold: The modern Democrat party
Or maybe he was sober at 7:04am …
Bobby Moynihan is still on the show? Or did they get someone just like Bobby Moynihan to do the Bobby Moynihan roles?
Hey SNL - Live from New York - hope you understand what's coming.
Pretty much what the SNL crowd thinks of Milwaukee. Drunk uncle.

It’s true, I got more chuckles, heh’s and lol’s reading these ☝🏼comments than I got from the video clip.

Well, not without reason. There is even a bar in West Allis called Drunk Uncle.
Can you taste what Milwaukee has brewing?
Good the Brewers got on SNL. Too bad the fat guy with the beer has no comedic talent. At least one guy was laughing - the SNL anchor.
If SNL is "College humor" then the IQ of people going to college has dropped a lot since the 1990s.

It was pretty funny. My tribal loyalties were insulted, and that’s OK. Yellich deserves a World Series win. Great player.
I guess you can't buy happiness and you can't buy a world series either. Sorry, LA Dodgers.
“What made Milwaukee famous, has made a foo ooo oof out of me.” S/ LA Dodgers.
