What's the big mystery? The Biden Administration had a massive campaign to not just support but also proselytize acceptance and furtherance of the homosexual lifestyle. And it was actively pursued by the teachers' unions. It was full-on indoctrination. I remember it well because of numerous conversations with our grandchildren at that time about their experiences in school. It was clear that the values and lifestyles of our extended family and community were under assault, so we fought it both privately and in forums.
The Trump Administration clearly stopped the majority of the official nonsense, and some sense of normality has been re-established. Our grandkids have been educated about such attempts and methods, and now are mature about how to personally evaluate and handle such situations. But it saddens us to even think about the next wave of all-out indoctrination that may be launched with some future general election results.

I think the South is more conservative in general. Even our liberals are more conservative. And I'd be very surprised if black primary school teachers were indoctrinating 9-year-olds to think "lesbian means you like girls" or "bisexual means you like everybody."
My official sex education was in 6th grade and it was so boring. I could maybe spot the fallopian tubes on a map. Maybe. I think it's a coin toss which map I could draw better, Europe or a Lady's Sex Organs. "Italy is a boot. I'm guessing the big one is Uterus."

Anyway, if I was a social scientist pursuing this, I would factor in "white girls" and "blue districts" and check and see if this social contagion had an indoctrination component.

Could it be that there is a clear increase in anti-LBGTQ harassment along with record number of hate crimes in the last few years that would discourage young people from being open and honest about their sexual orientation?
Since the news is unreliable, in the most dishonest sense of the word, then my suspicion must be grounded in the belief that the original reporting, which was saying that something like 20% of kids in this cohort were self-reporting as 'gay', or 'bi', or 'queer' or any other non-normal sexuality, therefore I have to treat this story as something similar to a story on polling. They're not basing it on an honest sample, and the purpose of the original so-called social contagion was to over-estimate the numbers in an effort to make them come true. Now that it hasn't, this reversion-to-the-mean is a more accurate sampling. It was never the problem they reported it to be. It was fraud to begin with.
