"You don't have to look at the facts and the law. All you have to do is study what they do."

Letitia James offers a gift to Saritha Komatireddy:

@ny1

When asked who should regulate prediction markets, Democratic candidate Letitia James did not hesitate, saying, “Yes, we sued two.” Republican candidate Saritha Komatireddy said she has to “look at the facts and the laws.”

James will get reelected by the Democrat machine. The real winners are the Cornell fraternity brothers who will use that quote as a central theme of their defense. Even a NewYork judge should be disturbed by a prosecutor announcing she doesn’t need to look at the facts and the law

Letitia James’s full sentence: “You don’t have to look at the facts and the law, all you have to do is study what they do: it’s illegal in the State of New York, period.”

Letitia James' dumps must be enormous.

James is able to tell by studying behavior what is illegal without noting the facts and law. The New York justice system is modeled on Imperial Rome, you would be a fool to live there.

It’s only a gift if she loses…I thought the gift was the smoking gun of tax fraud but wrongly assumed attorneys had associations with codes of conduct that said breaking the law is disqualifying. Now breaking the law seems a requirement in some states…

I like Saritha Komatireddy.

The sad part is Lefty Chuck thinks the full quote makes it better. Hey dummy, she’s saying that she doesn’t care what the facts say. She only cares that she can point to a law and call someone guilty of it. She doesn’t even care if it is a good law.

This is how Abortion was determined to be a constitutional right as well.

These are the people that set up divorce courts.

James has committed mortgage fraud herself.

This is why we need to eliminate universal suffrage. Most voters do not understand what the purpose of systems are.

7 of the 9 Supreme Court "Justices" have the same legal mindset as James.

I would guess that this means a similar ratio of "Judges" and Lawyers across the country are similarly retarded.

We cannot replace Lawyers and Judges with AI fast enough.

If Letitia James thought she could advance her political career by publicly executing the members of the "Cornell 7", she would do it in a heartbeat.
The real question is--would the ACLU object?

Dogma and Pony Show ayon kay ...

It's a cute sound bite, but Saritha's answer was a typical politician's cop out: no answer given because it's a "pending legal case." Tish's response was at unequivocal.

James's comment was about the regulation of prediction markets; specifically who should do it.

The "correct" answer for an AG candidate (or AG) would be "The legislature of course," but as AG I will enforce the laws on the books.

In context I believe what she is saying is that NY already has laws that she will enforce against "prediction markets."

She's separately said some very unethical and prejudicial things regarding the Cornell situation. But in this context I think she's not out of line. (Although her first reflex does seem to be--"I think this is wrong so I'm going to find a way to punish these people").

Kalshi has found an opportunity under a poorly drafted federal law which allows it to conduct an online gambling operation that would otherwise be illegal in most states.

Right now there is a split between two federal appeals courts on the question.

The SC will eventually have to settle it if Congress doesn't act.

The plain text of the law favors Kalshi and I'm sure you can bet on the outcome on on their website.

It's good to see the left stand up for state's rights.

Don't be too impressed. As soon as being against them advances their goals, they'll be trashing state's rights.

@Leftybank (6:23): How do you scofflaw Dems know something is ILLEGAL without looking at “the facts and the law”?

"How do you scofflaw Dems know something is ILLEGAL..."

They make it up as they go along. If it's not illegal, they'll change things to make it so (even if it's only for Trump) and if it is illegal but they don't like the law, they just ignore it.

Well in her favor, at least she didn't say you could tell if they broke the law by reading the bumps on their head. Phrenology was once a respected way of understanding someone's personality.
