Your dog bonds with you and doesn't always love the person that gives them food. Our family dog always regarded my mother as "the pack leader" no matter how many times my sister or I fed him.
I've had many, many dogs in my life, but I never had one that liked to swim, and I always wanted that. My current dog, a mini Australian Shepherd, is making up for all that lost time. At about 3 years old, after extensive prodding, she discovered that she could swim, and now she likes nothing else as much. She goes in the pool on her own at least a dozen times a day in the summer. Yesterday we went out on the lake and pulled up on a beach to hang out like we do. She jumped off the boat into the water before we even got out and stayed in the water the whole two hours we were there, coming out to pee on land. She just floats around chasing bubbles and herding all the swimmers toward the boat. If we take a long walk along the beach, she follows along by swimming - not walking. The lake makes her crazy. I never see anything like it, but I love it.

It's been two days since we had to put our dog to sleep; I don't think I'm ready to hear that she didn't love us, because we most surely loved her. But I do enjoy funny animal videos... so can anyone telegraph the punch for me here? Is it going to hurt for me to watch this?
I had a horrible dream last night that started with me lost in San Francisco, then Chinatown, and finally ending up in China, where people were constantly picking my pockets, taking everything I had and replacing each item with a cheap Chinese replica or piece of junk. I ended up losing my phone, my wallet, ID, and all my money, but carrying around a woman's wallet with Monopoly money, a toy phone, and bags of toys. I felt completely helpless and had no idea how to get out of just sleeping on the street. Today, life in Las Vegas is more appreciated than ever. Everybody still wants to take my stuff, but I'm home, and my phone works. Our dependence on cell phones is scary, which really comes alive when you lose it, and the same will happen with AI.
I've always fed my dogs mostly meat. I use a little high-protein kibble for bulk, but mostly chicken, beef, and pork, which cost no more than quality dog food and often less. I know my dog would say the same as the one in the video. If you feed your dog a diet of real meat, they will only poop about 1/3 as much, and small, dry ones. The meat turns into dog and energy. All the plant material in dog food just goes right through.
Jamie, so sorry to hear that you’ve lost your dear dog. Condolences. I don’t think there’s anything in the TikTok to upset you. It might make you smile.
Hang in there, Jamie! Our Cairn Terrier turned 15 years of age last month. She is blind, deaf and has lost most of her sense of smell. But she has not lost her appetite. We lead and guide her around and she’s doing pretty well, all things considered.
We know she may not make it to Thanksgiving, so time is short and it’s breaking our hearts. We’re trying to make the best of it and giving her our time and showing her all the love we can.
So sorry for your loss, Jamie. It is never easy to lose a furry friend.
Our yellow lab is very food motivated. The problem trying to teach him new "tricks" is that he is too focused on the treat and not what he is supposed to learn to get the treat.

Should have done that with a Jack Benny voice.
Even if it’s 90% about the food the remaining 10% is ***awesome***
That's not real, it's AI
Dog owners forget that they are always approximately 72 hours away from being a meal for a hungry dog.

More true of cats.
cute. and well done.

Cats just hang out with you for the food and the laughs. But they're solitary hunters who could leave home and survive. Dogs are pack animals.

I’ve lived with that dog’s doppelgängers (2) for sixteen years.
@bagoh20: My mini-Aussie doesn’t want to swim. He just wants to attack other dogs, particularly pugs.
Ok, that was cute

Jamie-
Your dog loved you. One look in their eyes is all you need to know.
