"What Cornell Teaches Its Students About Sex/From feminist porn awards to guides on group sex, Cornell has promoted sexual liberation as a virtue."

An article by Jared Lederman, a senior at Cornell, in The Free Press.

Lots of links to the University's sex guides, such as "Yes, No, Maybe So: A Sexual Inventory Stocklist"."

Lederman opines: "Cornell’s philosophy on sex is so striking because it is much more measured when it comes to other facets of students’ lives. The school regularly instructs my classmates and me to limit our drinking, protect our sleep, and develop healthier habits. Cornell hasn’t adopted a libertarian philosophy on degenerate college behavior in general; it has simply chosen to champion sexual liberation...."

Hmm. I think he's underestimating how daunting that Sexual Inventory Stocklist is. It's a long series of lists and you're supposed to react to each one. Do you want this or not? Just to excerpt one section of one list:

___ Being completely naked with a partner with the lights on

___ Having a partner be completely naked with the lights on

___ Direct eye contact

___ Being looked at directly, overall, when I am naked

___ Grooming or toileting in front of a partner

___ Having a partner groom/use the toilet in front of me

___ Having my genitals looked at directly

___ Having a partner talk about my body

___ Talking about a partner's body

___ Having some or all of a disability, identity or difference I have be specifically made

part of sex, sexualized or objectified

___ Having some or all of a disability, identity or difference a partner has be specifically

made part of sex, sexualized or objectified

___ Having some or all kinds of sex during a menstrual period

___ Seeing or being exposed to other kinds of body fluids (like sweat or urine)

Is that sex positivity? I think not. I think that's asking you to soberly contemplate what might happen and to fix in your mind, in advance, where your boundaries are. There's no way this list is designed to make you think I need to throw myself out there and experience all this. It's more: This could happen and it's not going to happen to me (not without real love).

How does Cornell teach its students about sex? Not the way you’d expect. Read Cornell student Jared Lederman’s full essay in our app or at TheFP.com.

I'm really glad I'm not young in 2026.

Why don't these universities, you know, just teach? Like so much of the crap these schools engage in, it is activist driven nonsense that has nothing to do with creating well educated young people.

Someone at Cornell has made a deep dive into certain porn genres.

My wife and I did most of that this morning as we prepared for the day. She’s still drying her hair. No ketamine involved.

…those are some limber moves for an old lady to give Cornell the benefit of the doubt. I don’t discount the ‘they’re liberal fuck ups’ theory one Ithacate…

I agree. Most students starting at the university are legally adults and it's not the univeristy's role to monitor or modify a student's behavior outside of the classroom. If a student is accused of a crime off campus, it's up to the Police and the Courts to determine if a crime has been commited and what the punishment should be.

ChrisC, what you are asking for is beyond the current curriculum and educating what have to be put in place of indoctrination.

• Planned Parenthood Generation Action Cornell (PPGA): The student organization has hosted fundraisers and raffles that included sex toys to support reproductive health causes (such as an event in December 2021). (Cornell Daily Sun)

• Campus-Sponsored Events: Official or residential programming on campus—such as "Sex Toys 101" hosted by Cornell Residential & New Student Programs and sex-positive educational events like "Sex in the Dark" at Appel Commons (which featured adult toy raffles)—have incorporated sex toys into sex education and wellness activities. (Cornell University)

• Cornell Health: The university's official health service has also distributed and provided educational materials, guides, and inventories that discuss or reference sex toys as part of broader sexual health and pleasure education. (The Free Press)

No class on group sex at Creighton University.

Cornell and Creighton were both founded by men who got rich during the telegraph boom. The Cornell guy, however, didn’t give his money to the Society of Jesus.

“[Ezra Cornell] began construction of a palatial Ithaca mansion, Llenroc, whose name was Cornell spelled in reverse, to replace his farmhouse, but died before it was completed. Llenroc was maintained by Cornell's heirs for several decades until being sold to Cornell University's chapter of the Delta Phi fraternity, which occupies it to this day….”

Wondering if group sex happens at Delta Phi.

I did not know Cornell is a land grant university. I thought that was limited to the great schools like Wisconsin and Nebraska.

"Direct eye contact"

Ohhhh no, not that. Especially after marriage.

Careful, they put in a few ringers to see if everyone was paying attention.

It's certainly not "positivity." It's both a permission structure (read on in the "list") and a roadmap to absolute misery.
If you're not doing these things you are left out. If you are doing these things you need to very very careful every step of the way to make sure nobody's touching anyone else's "boundaries."
And if you do cross a "boundary" then you are either liberated or you've been raped.

You mean to tell me there are people out there who don't shave/trim/remove their partner's pubic hair??!!

I agree with Amexpat, but it seems Universities were given the authority to police themselves. That has been a problem for decades, but it does get constantly worse.

“ Careful, they put in a few ringers to see if everyone was paying attention.”

And I’m sure Althouse curated the list for the same reason.

Remember that it’s just “one section of one list” implying much more of the same banal crap.

Did they ever advise girls against consenting to drunken gang bangs?

rehajm said...

…why the different font for the list? If it’s supposed to be an image of the list available to students the only reason for the underline before each item is for a check mark. They could have used bullet points but…

Cornell is a grooming agent for RAATs and a friend of Planned Parenthood umbrella corporation. Wicked.

As bad as yesterday was for both Texas and Texas A&M football teams, their student fan base can still be proud not to be going to Cornell. Same for Begley’s Nebraska.

About 90% of the people in college right now should not be in college.

They should be having children, or learning how to build a boat, or install copper wire in a house.

Our University system is almost completely worthless right now. Modern college is a scam supporting way too many useless professors and administrators.

My daughter at Grove City College: If you have a member of the opposite sex in your dorm room, the door must be propped open with a shoe. College rule.

Hannah Arendt’s phrase “the banality of evil” comes to mind. Sex and intimacy between a man and a woman, intended to be exclusive, procreative, unitive, has been turned into a bureaucrat’s wet dream.

I'm not following the case. The details I've heard are more depressing than prurient. I get the vague sense that both the girl and the guys she was with behaved badly and, in the case of some of the guys, perhaps their bad behavior was criminal. I don't condone rape, but there's something wrong about ruining some adolescent's life because he got caught up in a stupid event. Whatever comes out of this case will not be justice.
