"In 2014, a mostly anonymous digital horde waged a full-scale assault on women working in the gaming industry in an effort to damage their reputations and drive them from their professions. They harassed and doxxed their victims and fabricated and disseminated conspiratorial rumors about them.... Gamergate is a formative origin point for the alt-right, whose members and ideas have been absorbed into what is now called the new right. Once a subset of the broader conservative movement, the intellectuals and policy wonks of the new right, who almost all share atavistic visions of a masculine-obsessed politics, helped pave the way for Mr. Trump’s rise to power.... As a political tactic, resorting to a decade-old strategy of harassment should be evidence that the right’s bag of tricks is painfully meager. It’s also a bit baffling. In the face of a midterm election that could knock Mr. Trump’s presidency down into a posture of feeble lameness, the right’s online surrogates are instead burning crucial bandwidth on a grotesque persecution of a sympathetic woman — all while pushing a scolding grievance message about sexual values that is more likely to scare away new voters than bring them into the tent...."

He goes from this to stating that this is the start of the alt-right, 'without evidence' as they are fond of leaving unsaid when they're telling tales, to then implying that the whole of conservatives are so infected.
I've always maintained that the 'alt-right' comes from the same can as the Charlottesville and Russia-Russia-Russia hoax. It's a useful hobgoblin that can be pulled out, waved around, and then put away when the con is over.
Who behaves in a manner like this, consistently, out in the open. Who harasses, who doxes, who damages reputations? That's right: Progressives. There's your answer. They also like to confuse people buy accusing them of what they, themselves are doing.
A tad overthought…
Wow, what a bunch of lies. But it is the NYT's, where gaslighting isn't optional - its required. Gammergate was about a top-down attempt by the "Gaming industry" to push trannies, leftism, and other nonsense into games that were usually played by young men. Most of the critics (yes game critics lol) and execs doing it were women.
When they got pushback, they pulled the typical leftist trick of crying "Sexism" "Rape threats" "Death threats". Again, like the Zionists, the Left never defends they only atttack and counter-attack. They don't give a Goddamn inch. And they never stop lying and gaslighting.
How long before truth wins out over fiction re: Doe? And who will be the arbiter?
Forget it, Jake. It's mid-terms.
Cancel culture. Litigious themes. Social liberal club. Diversity. Abortion. Twilight fringe. Left-wing ideology.
Who is he?
I don't know if this had been discussed in other Cornell posts, but it seems to me as if the left is trying their best to catechize a new crop of young people into their ideology and using Cornell as their model.
It's one of the only reasons you'd go back to Gamergate. It's probably why Hillary! has popped up again.
Seems like a bad move.
Boo! Hoo! The left is trying to create a new victim, and everyone is laughing at them. We are supposed to ignore that Jane Doe voluntarily got drunk, went to the fraternity house, agreed to engage in group sex, went upstairs, took off her clothes, and did engage in sex with multiple partners. All voluntarily. And she is somehow a victim. Of what? Her own lust and stupidity?
White knighting douche bags are the worst
Shorter: "I'm insane!"
I've stopped expecting the MSM to report anything from an objective POV or even based on some principle. Everything is about "Is this good for the liberal/left?" "does this toe the part line?" . Even fashion, Literature, Sports, Entertainment, and games.
Once someone found out Megyn Kelly and other more conservative types were questioning "Jane Doe" - then it had to be turned into a fight in the grand war against Donald Trump and Republicanism.
I don't see how this is really a left/right issue. I'd think we are all against rape and the unfair treatment of those accused of it. And just want justice to be done. But I guess not.
It's amazing how much can be wrong in one paragraph. . . . .
Does 'Nathan Taylor Pemberton' sound a bit like a trust fund baby who has found something to keep himself busy, until the estate is settled?
"a grotesque persecution of a sympathetic woman"
Begging the question, isn't it? Everything we've learned about the woman and her thoughts on the night's activities (and a couple of the participants) outside of the official MSM narrative have made her less sympathetic (in terms of being a victim) as far as I can tell.
No mention here of the doxxing, hounding, and online mobs that have come for the defendants, their families, and anyone associated with them of course. Doesn't count!
"Again, like the Zionists,…"
There we go, bringing up the Jews again.
The snippet given didn't encourage me to read the article. I think it;s a proven fact that some men rape and some women lie about being raped. Therefore, as far as possible, one should keep on open mind on a case like this. I just have a sketchy knowledge, but it does appear that there's conflicting evidence........It's not as clear cut where we know for a fact that that your mother strangled her children and is, nonetheless, indubitably innocent.
Your=young and is not meant as a reflection on your mother who was a fine woman.
I am disappointed that Althouse posts this drivel without pushback. There are legitimate questions as to whether the sex was nonconsensual, and there are indications in her social media that the sex was perhaps even initiated by Jane Doe herself. And three of the Cornell seven did not have sex with Jane Doe, but the NYT calls HER the victim?
ever notice how?
right before a major election, there is a sex scandal ?
want to watch a deranged lady throw pens at the camera while listing them ALL for the last TWENTY Years?
It's really quite entertaining as well as informative.

"I don't think we should feel any shame... our body our choice."
Case closed.
Leftist projection, both on gamergate and the Cornell sex party.
The fuel behind both Gamergate and the reaction against the persecution of the Cornell 7 is the visceral backlash against using the cultural desire to protect women as a poisoned knife. The disproportionate power to destroy based on slights that are ambiguous or imagined. And the pogroms always, always come from those who claim women are equal to men in every way.
Any woman, any time, can destroy a man simply by claiming fair maidenhood in the face of brutish masculinity.
This is not feminism. It's victimology as a power fetish.
"Victimology as power fetish" is a big part of feminism. Maybe the whole part.
“agreed to engage in group sex …..”
Agreed to? She organized round one.
"The disproportionate power to destroy based on slights that are ambiguous or imagined."
Like this.
The Gray lady’s elite journalist left out references to the Proud Boys and Q-Anon . . . sloppy.
The timeline based on her 2024 statement:
1. Jane wants to hook up with frat guy, call him G1 at a frat party. She pregames and shows up, where G1 offers a threesome. She is extremely keen.
2. Girl, G1, and G2 do drugs and have a threesome where by the end G1 passes out and G2 is extremely nauseous to the point of almost vomiting.
3. At some point G3 shows up and she has a threesome with him and G2. G3 dips. G4 shows up and G1 recovers, she snorts ketamine off G1's dick.
4. Guys ask for a foursome, she says no, they respect her answer and she has another threesome with G1 and G4. She said she doesn't remember how this one started.
5. At some point G5, G6, and G7 show up. Two ask to do drugs off her naked body, get consent, do it and then leave. One shakes her hand, pulls her into a kiss and doesn't let her go immediately, then leaves.
6. All the while they were doing drugs and respecting her wishes of what she wants/doesn't want to do. Eventually she wants to leave and they let her go without incident or issue.
Then from texts/aftermath we get:
7. She then goes home to her sorority, the next day the guys apologize if things got out of hand. She instead says "nothing illegal happened", and expresses a desire to do it all again but with fewer men. She praises free love and "our body our choice" and "I will defend you against anyone". Her reputation starts to crater on campus to the point it's causing her real struggle.
8. Apparently the frat barred her from future events. She tries to leave but Cornell says they won't return her money.
9. She goes to campus police and is given every single resource an alleged victim should get. She recants her story of the night some two weeks later, claiming "I was for sure raped!". The police trim down her opinions on legal matters to the timeline of events, as she sees it. She's given aids and help out the wazoo, gets the statement and under penalty of perjury says it's what happened.
11. Cornell investigates, punishes 2 with expulsion, 2 with suspensions, 2 delay their degrees, and 1 leaves.
12. DA investigates, doesn't find it a compelling case for rape charges (No. Fucking. Shit...)
13. Two years later girl comes forward to charge Cornell and the seven, trying to get a payout. Telling a completely different story, narrative gets spread as if she was held as the frat had a train ran on her for seven hours straight. Even slightly questioning it gets feminist panties in a twist and gets them talking about gamergate. Lol.
If the texts are true, it ruins her case. What a flustercluck...no wonder the DA didn't prosecute.
If this is really the October surprise, if this saga is what they are thinking is going to provide the Outrage Vote motivation for the Progressives, then I'm shaking my head. This is no outrage. If this is the best they can come up with, then the budget's tighter than I thought.
Remember, all the way back in January? When everyone was saying, 'the Democrats have no message, no meaning, no real arguments, no candidates'? What has changed? Quick, someone point out the young Progressive turks that are going to transform politics. What personality immediately springs to mind, as the face of the Democratic Party?
If any of the victims in any of this Leftist outrage theater were sympathetic these opinion pieces would not be necessary
Speaking of playbooks, the Times' has fallen open to the usual page: "How dare THEY sound off on something that WE made a political issue in the first place? They're supposed to let us prevail by default."
Ironically, Gamergate was kicked off by a false accusation. A female game developer was falsely accused of trading sexual favors with a journalist for a good review of her free game. That rumor made it's way to 4Chan and then a (mostly male) online, gamer mob took the ball and ran with it. They started smearing her and every other female in the gaming industry. Then it got worse. "The movement became widely characterized by coordinated online abuse, doxxing, and death threats targeting women in the video game industry, including Zoe Quinn, Anita Sarkeesian, and Brianna Wu."
So basically, Gamergate was a story about a false accusation creating up a giant, and potentially dangerous, outrage mob nationwide.
ai : “Jane Doe reported the alleged assault to the Cornell University Police Department on November 8, 2024, which was exactly 20 days (or nearly three weeks) after the incident occurred on the night of October 19, 2024.“
"It’s also a bit baffling. In the face of a midterm election..."
He sees it entirely through a political lens. Not everyone does.
Nothing about the gamergate accusation was false, but you'll be hard pressed to find the OG evidence online. It's been thoroughly cleansed.
This stuff is batshit crazy and look at the comments. Not only do NYT morons “know” what happened at Cornell, they “know” it has to do with Trump and MAGA. How do sane people prevail over these imbeciles who also apparently think Biden’s 5% average inflation rate is lower than Trump’s 3% rate. I’m too old, but if I were younger I’d be buying guns - lots of guns.
Good thing there has not been an onslaught against the accused and their supporters.

LOL!
It wasn’t a “false rumor.” The dev and the reporter were in a relationship that wasn’t disclosed.
You have to be willfully blind to call this Jane Doe “sympathetic”.
Achilles, loudogblog was directly quoting the Wikipedia page, which for many people these days is the unvarnished truth on all things.
Is there any way for NYT to tie the Cornell incident to January 6th?
EFFing NYT! It ALL has to be about Trump.
The New York Times has no idea what happened in Gamer Gate. They live in a bell jar.
The left’s surrogates are burning crucial bandwidth on a grotesque glorification of an unsympathetic woman — all while pushing a scolding grievance message about sexual values that is more likely to scare away new D-voters than bring them into the tent.
Turnabout is FairPlay
How many victims do you know walk a mile to the home of their assailants to snort SpecialK off a penis and then tell people in text messages afterwards “my body my choice”?
Everything else is casting aspersions, and in the case of NYT to include people nowhere near the events.
'...Good thing there has not been an onslaught against the accused and their supporters. ...'
Yes, precisely. Nobody is getting worked up about this farce. The mob refuses to light its torches. It's a 'tell'. The only evidence that a Blue Wave is coming are all the stories about Blue Waves, coming.
I Have Never Seen the Online Right So Happy
Exactly how long were his eyes closed when Trump was elected over Hillary!!!?
"There we go, bringing up the Jews again."
I don't who "We" is, but I was talking about zionists. Are you asserting that all zionists are Jews? I don't think you're that stupid.
Zionists and the Left use the rhetorical tactics.
Gamergate was some big scam, no? Some dud story that the media tried to make significant by attaching a "-gate" to it.
The story is always about the "pouncing" or "seizing" or "weaponizing" or whatever the word of the moment is.
It's never about what actually happened or what the actual situation is.
"Is there any way for NYT to tie the Cornell incident to January 6th?"
Tishy's working on it.
Is this the same New York Slimes that said cheered Nifong and Crystal Mangum?
Is this the same misogynistic New York Times that lied about Sarah Palin?
Is this the same New York Times that congratulated Sabrina Erdely's Rolling Stone Rape Hoax and then hired Sarah Jeong who also defamed the UVA fraternity?
Is this the same NYT that just recently had to pay ladt month $10million after being found guilty of defamation?
"White knighting douche bags are the worst"
AMEN. The artsy-fartsy progressive males who live in the East Villiage and read the Times actually believe that women find feminist men attractive.
Without any real evidence, both the NYT comments and the Althouse faithful are foaming at their sphincters. Most of the point brought forth are of past events.

This is a now thing. The Times is attempting to rile their cat lady base against Republicans. It’s not surprising—it’s October. Wake me up (and sign me up for a subscription) when the NYT ceases to be so blatantly partisan.
Forget it, Nathan. She's not going to date you. She might screw you though.
“Today, their ideas are shaping both the G.O.P. and the actions of the federal government. What was once a style practiced by the fringes, out on the hard edge of the American masculine psyche, has now become an everyday tactic among the MAGA mainstream and the heart of government.
So who is this for? It’s clear the right has abandoned any effort at drawing more women, particularly young women Doe’s age, into its fold. It might be reasonable to conclude, then, that right-wing response to the Cornell case is some end-run play for the votes of young men, the angry disaffected kind. But this noncommittal voting bloc appears to have reconsidered its support for the president. A mid-September survey of 800 young men, aged 18-30, revealed a mass retreat from Mr. Trump and his agenda, with a double-digit preference for a generic Democratic ticket among young men who are likely to vote in the midterms.
It’s why one can sense a whiff of nostalgic euphoria in the right’s recent vulgarities against Jane Doe. Could it be that these reactionaries, in the face of an overwhelmingly complex and challenging political moment, are pining for the pleasant simplicities of the not-so-distant past? A nostalgia for their own reactionary uprising — back when a hysterical outcry against the so-called woke scolds or the liberal managerial state or the demonic left was a winning pitch to American voters?
Having won the presidency twice in less than a decade with its masculinist grievance politics, the right is now functioning much like an addict, flailing about for a quick fix and a familiar high, even if a brutal comedown is all but certain.“
More mush from the wimps.
Re Gamergate:
Gamergate was a controversial online movement that emerged in August 2014, which supporters described as primarily focused on exposing alleged conflicts of interest and lack of transparency in video game journalism, initiated by a blog post detailing the romantic involvement of indie developer Zoë Quinn with journalists who covered her work without disclosure. The controversy began when Eron Gjoni, Quinn's ex-boyfriend, published "The Zoe Post," accusing her of infidelity with multiple individuals, including Kotaku journalist Nathan Grayson, whose article on Quinn's game Depression Quest omitted any mention of their prior personal contact. This revelation highlighted broader concerns about undisclosed relationships and coordinated industry practices, such as private mailing lists among journalists, fueling demands for ethical reforms like mandatory disclosure policies.
Happy? We're happy?
There is absolutely nothing to be 'happy' about over this entire, sordid incident.
GFY.
“It’s not uncommon these days to hear the internet described as a hellscape.
People who were paying close attention to certain corners of the internet saw this reality coming more than a decade ago in Gamergate, in which an angry online mob waged a virulent harassment campaign against women and diversity in the video game industry.
Gamergate was one of the earliest indications that what happened online could have major implications offline — and that a few people who understood the mechanics of the internet could manipulate it to advance a nefarious agenda.
Those who experienced the harassment firsthand warned that if not taken seriously, the behaviors underlying Gamergate would fester.
From flooding the zone to the use of memes, the tactics once employed by a niche community of gamers are all too familiar today — they’ve since developed into a political strategy that’s routinely used in the halls of power.
Political strategist Steve Bannon understood the power of this dynamic acutely.
“You can activate that army,” Bannon told Bloomberg reporter Joshua Green in 2017. “They come in through Gamergate or whatever and then get turned onto politics and Trump.””

Well golly gee that's never happened before.
The core problem with your side, Inga, is that you don’t provide provide an alternative. The D party stands for one thing and one thing alone and that is Not Trump. That’s less than nothing.
"The D party stands for one thing and one thing alone and that is Not Trump."
IDK, they're certainly for massive, illegal immigration in pursuit of acquiring and maintaining power for themselves.
I know of nobody, regardless of the political affiliation, that thinks the Tate Bros are cool, or for that matter, anything less than attention-whoring, disgusting, creepy, misogynistic douche bags. But it's always interesting to me how regimented Progressives are when it comes to disgraceful behavior, how unable they are to bring themselves to criticize somebody rotten, if it comes at the expense of one molecule of credibility. It simply doesn't happen. But here they are, implying that the Tate Bros are somehow representative of the toxic process they're trying to wrap into their picture of 'alt-right' scare stories that have no basis in fact.
oh shut up. People are sick of liars.
I know my sphincter is not showing, so are you imagining it? Why would you do that? Please don't do that. It's creepy. I hope you don't do that a lot.
As with the bogaloo boys, and the gophers, I don't know who the Tate brothers are. But I don't need to, Inga's keeping track of things.
The "onslaught" is advice that would improve her life, short term and long term. That's mean.
The Tate bros would love her and her values.
As a longtime certified right-wing nutcase, I can honestly say that I don't have the slightest idea what "Gamergate" was about. Is this like the whole QAnon thing?
https://www.forbes.com/sites/saradorn/2026/07/19/tate-brothers-arrested-in-florida-what-we-know-about-their-trump-ties/
Andrew and Tristan Tate—influential figures in the so-called manosphere that intersects with President Donald Trump’s base—were arrested in Miami on Saturday, more than a year after Romanian authorities lifted travel restrictions on them, reportedly at the Trump administration’s urging.
Trump’s eldest son, Don Jr., publicly spoke out against Andrew Tate’s detention in Romania, calling it “absolute insanity” in a May 2023 tweet and appeared on a livestream with him in 2024, telling him, “you've got people attacking you as far as I'm concerned,” while Trump ally and billionaire Elon Musk has also backed Andrew Tate’s take on U.K. politics in a January 2025 tweet.
Trump’s youngest son, Barron, also cultivated a relationship with Andrew Tate, as Barron helped with outreach to young men during Trump’s 2024 campaign, multiple outlets reported, though a spokesperson for the Tates previously told The New York Times its findings about Barron’s connections to Andrew Tate were “fake news.”
The Tates have repeatedly praised Trump and urged his followers to vote for him in 2024—Andrew Tate said he spoke to Barron after the 2024 assassination attempt against Trump, telling reporters, “I’m very close with the Trump family. I know them well.”‘
Well the Cornell 7 rape hoax of 2026 seems t have sucked in gullible Althouse and no doubt many, many other AWFLs, and excited them on the eve of the midterm elections.
By NLT November 13th (and probably dsys earlier) the NYT will probably admit that the Cornell 7 hoax belongs in the same trash bin as the Duke Lacrosse Case and the Phi Kappa Psi rape hoax at UVA.
Not that frats are pillars of sobriety and rectitude, but women clearly lie quite readily about being raped, and if feminist thought leaders had a lick of common sense they’d realize that rape hoaxes don’t just damage men — they can only make it harder for genuine rape victims to receive justice.

Does anybody believe that 1 in 4 women are sexually assaulted in college? I asked ChatGPT ("Are 1 out of 4 women in college sexually assaulted?"), here's the answer:
"Yes, roughly 1 in 4 female undergraduate students reported experiencing sexual assault in a major U.S. college survey."
If you're of the nit-picking sort, you might notice the inclusion of "reported" in the answer, when the question did not include it.
Either way, what does it say for the decision-making abilities of females, when they choose to put themselves in a situation where they believe the "1 in 4" stat is a thing?
“The relationship between the Tate brothers (Andrew and Tristan) and Gamergate is ideological and structural, tracing the evolution of modern online anti-feminism from a 2014 gaming subculture into today's mainstream political landscape. While the Tates were not prominent figures during the initial 2014 Gamergate controversy, media scholars, journalists, and cultural critics view them as the direct beneficiaries and evolutionary successors of that movement.
The connection can be understood through three core themes:
1. The Lineage of "Aggrieved Masculinity"
• Gamergate (2014): Began as a targeted harassment campaign against female game developers and critics who were demanding inclusion and diversity in gaming. It established a template of "aggrieved masculinity," where men felt their traditional spaces and statuses were being stripped away by progressive culture.
• The Tate Brothers: Over a decade later, the Tates tapped directly into this foundational grievance. By branding themselves as the ultimate arbiters of "traditional masculinity" and aggressively targeting insecure or struggling young men, they monetized the very same resentment that Gamergate pioneered.”

Funny, I can remember when DInga and KKKak were moistening their undies over rapists like Eric Swalwell and Graham Platner....
I'm willing to bet that the people who support this woman at least initially believed nearly every such claim from every woman regardless of proof or credibility, from the thousands who claimed Justice Kavanaugh assaulted them to the Duke lacrosse rape hoax. It takes a confession to change their minds, and even that doesn't make them regret the damage done to the falsely accused. In fact, it just makes them more convinced the next time, right from the start. It's a lot like TDS. Even when the lies are proven to be lies, they still reinforce the cranial synapses carrying the lies, and then they build on each other until the cranium is incapable of skepticism on the subject.
""The Tates have repeatedly praised Trump and urged his followers to vote for him in 2024"
So have millions of people. Some do it to prove they're not retarded, and it's a pretty good marker. It also takes courage, since it can lead to being attacked, being the target of lawfare, or even being killed.

Also: No italics, even briefly. Use asterisks for emphasis. And don't play with the format by changing fonts or using boldface or all caps. Never include more than one extra line break between paragraphs.
