"... the group frankly views the party it occupies as a host for an ideological movement rather than as a partner. It also practices an exaggerated form of the interest-group litmus-test politics that came to dominate Democratic politics in the post-1968 era, measuring its own strength less by general-election victories than by its ability to enforce candidate loyalty to left-maximalist positions.... It is a means of engaging seriously in Democratic Party politics while also casting a vote of no-confidence in the party itself...."

It isn't just that republicans are still going to hold the senate. It is also that Cornyn, McConnell, Thillis and a bunch of other traitors were removed in the process.
The Democrat party is a mob controlled crime syndicate. Nothing more. w/ rage-fueled factions.
If they could just explain their ideas and how they would work with some examples.
Not bloody likely.
The Democrat party is walking dead, being feasted on by a Xenomorph
"If they could just explain their ideas and how they would work with some examples."
If you don't do what we want we'll burn your town hall down. (see France)
LOL “like conservatives of the 1970s the group frankly views the party it occupies as a host for an ideological movement rather than as a partner.“ Uh huh. Like conservatives of the 1980s too. And conservatives of the 1990s and 2000s and 2010s right up to 2015 when the GOP decided that they hated Trump more than they loved America and so the mainstream GOP voters like me are still hated by the Establishment GOP.
Barbara Bush is donating to Talarico and the Cheney family is disgraced by their treasonous opposition to Trump. GOPe still hates us Trump voters in our puny wing comprising 98% of registered Republican voters. But Uniparty Republicans like the Bushes are siding with Obama’s wing of the Democrats.
So, the NYT's doesn't like the DSA, because it stands for stuff the NYT's readers and publishers don't like. Namely income equality and morality in foreign policy. The NYT's audience wants a Democrat and Republican party that both support the status quo and differ over trivia on the edges.
They've finally calmed down about Trump, because Trump has shown himself -despite his rhetoric - to be a neo-liberal. And an interventionist in foreign policy. They've calmed down about Mandingo in NYC, because he's shown himself to be a typical NYC mayor.
But they still dislike that Leftists are getting nominated. Gosh, if only we lived in sane world where all the D's were Chuck Schumer clones and all the R's were Mitt Romneys!
Nazis, Dezis, oh my. Left-wing ideology.
The Bush family came from New England, and Prescott Bush was a "Moderate" Republican from Conneticutt. Bush 41 ran against Reagan in 1980 as a social liberal and called Reagan a "Rightwing extremist". When elected POTUS he gave us souter and would've given us amnesty and open borders if he could have.
Bush 43 was just more of the same, only he learned to tone down the social liberalism. In 2016 Barbara Bush and Bush 43 voted for Clinton. So the grand-daughter being a Democrat should come as no shock.
The democratic Party operates on lies and half-truths. Their stupid cult followers adhere to every diktat.

The more consequential question isn’t whether anyone is in charge of the Democratic Party. It’s whether voters will hold Republicans accountable for the record of the party that is in power.
The midterms are a test of whether MAGA voters will continue endorsing Trump’s record of war, inflation, tariffs and rising costs or finally recognize the consequences of his administration’s policies.
Democrats have their own challenges, but the supposed DSA takeover is overblown. Relatively few DSA candidates are running for statewide office. The far more consequential question is whether Democrats can offer a credible alternative and capitalize on voter dissatisfaction.
Ultimately, Republicans must defend Trump’s record. Democrats must prove they can do better. Those are not equivalent challenges—and the outcome of the midterms may tell us which matters more.

Sure, voters entering the midterms might be upset about the most egregious corruption in American history, the rising cost of living, our increasingly senile leader, his senseless wars on behalf of Netanyahu, and the $40 trillion deficit. But have you considered Democrats are nice to trans people and James Talarico was maybe once a vegan?

If this is a typical midterm the GOP will get hammered but there is suddenly a lot of this "hedging" and "what if" stuff in the lefty press that is giving me small hope.
The worst thing about Trump is that he is the Trojan Horse for full blown socialism in the US. When the wave of DSA politicians take over: what do you think they will do with those lovely "Trump" accounts? What will they do with the brand new presidential power to buy up private companies?
We are so fucked.
If the far lefties get beat and cost the Dems a few senate seats, the NYT wants room to say, "we told you so"
Were 1970s conservatives so different from ADA liberals in the Democratic party in those days? They had their doubts and suspicions and distrust of the GOP, but they mostly stayed with the party. Reagan worked pretty well with Republicans (and Democrats) of various political stripes.
Now Democrats are nominating people who are more at home on the fringes of internet political commentary than in electoral politics. There's some of that with Republicans too, but it's more about wacky eccentrics than about an organized movement.
𝘈𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘴 𝘮𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘭𝘺 "𝘵𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘶𝘱" 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺?
Are the polls mysteriously “tightening up” already? Funny how that narrative emerges just as Republicans need a reason to believe they can escape accountability.
Given the Senate map, Democrats were expected to lose seats. The fact that they’re now positioned to gain seats is already a major repudiation of Trump; winning the Senate would be a political tsunami.
Retaking the House was always the more likely outcome, given the historical pattern of midterm elections. But flipping the Senate, despite the unfavorable map, would signal something far more consequential.
Hope springs eternal!
The Democrat party will stop the steel mills and stop the reindustrialzation of the country!
They promise!
Democrats will not stand for deporting illegal workers and Americans getting jobs!
Democrats will bring back cheap imported labor to do the jobs Americans wont do at minimum wage!

And here is one of the main problems with MAGA.
When somebody votes with you 95% of the time they are not traitors.
Cornyn > Talarico
Flake > Gallegos
Thillis > Cooper
Loffler & Perdue > Warnock & Ossoff
The problem with both parties is that they have forgotten that Independents decide elections and lately they have been voting against the people in power.
Both Trump and Biden were not given mandates to govern as they please. They were elected to not be the guy they were replacing.
In Biden’s case it was to not be an insane narcissist. Nobody wanted policies that opened the border and caused inflation.
Trump got half of it right but his retarded tariffs have allowed the Democrats to pin the cost of living on him. He also ignored the lesson of 2020 which is that the majority of Americans do not like him and find his personal behavior deplorable.
"So, the NYT's doesn't like the DSA, because it stands for stuff the NYT's readers and publishers don't like. Namely income equality . . . ."
Income EQUALITY? DSA people are retarded, but are they really THAT retarded? It can't be true. Does AOC pay everyone on her staff the same salary?
Believing the polls are wrong is the last desperate grasp at a straw by politicians and their supporters staring at a redundancy notice from voters.
Republicans made similar arguments before the 2018 midterms. The backlash was substantial. Polls can be wrong, but the error cuts both ways.
And what if this time Republican support is being overestimated because voters who might once have backed the party simply can’t bring themselves to endorse another two years of chaos?
There are a large group of voters who will cast a ballot if Trump is on it. Otherwise they stay home. Trading reliable voters for cult members does have a cost.
Beware of The Blob, it creeps
And leaps and glides and slides
Across the floor
Right through the door
And all around the wall

The fact that Trump is cozying up to Putin by exempting Russia from further sanctions required by law should also be a considered. He is single-handedly helping Russia at every opportunity. He is effectively becoming a fifth column for Putin.
I’ll be curious whether Republican voters will judge Trump by his actions toward Russia, rather than simply defend him out of party loyalty. The midterms will test whether this is a red line or whether there are no red lines left.
That was a long, long slog of mostly opinion to reach the completely wrong conclusion: "If Americans have finally made [parties] irrelevant..."
The problem is not the parties, but what Homans mentioned earlier (emphasis added): "The formal party structures...are now overshadowed by advocacy organizations, campaign-consulting firms, donor networks, dark-money super PACs, partisan media and others...These groups share partisan commitments but *have no real accountability to voters* or official party leaders."
We will be better served by 2 parties trying to win over a majority of voters than by devolving into various narrowly-focused factions.
As far as the rise of DSA and the future of Democrats, I much prefer Ruy Teixeira's assessment. He was co-author with John Judis of "The Emerging Democratic Majority" and its follow-up, "Where Have All the Democrats Gone."

That is something that cannot logically exist in a society where people have any form of independence. As long as there are living beings, that are not in captivity, some will have more and some will have less. It doesn't matter if it's money, food or property. The only way to have income equality would be to imprison everyone and strictly ration what is given to each person.
"You will own nothing and be happy." is not currently considered to be a positive affirmation.
It doesn’t matter. Leftmedia lies are worth 20-25 points for the Dems. Decent people can’t overcome that.
Really? IEE does Russia, Russia, Russia! Wrong crowd, Dude. You need to spew that over at Yahoo News, NYT, or some such.

Ocean does not fundamentally understand where the affluence and comfort we all share (yes, even the poor in today's America) comes from.
How many Democrat voters does that describe? Democrats will vote for DSA candidates, but do they really want socialism or income equality? They're voting against Trump. They're onboard with everything the Democrats are selling, but they're looking for fresh faces, and DSA is providing them.
I just got back from Florida. Noticeably, gas prices are moving below $4.00 where I am in Mass.
The problem is theft.
Politics is just the method.
I love how people who have create zero jobs, products or net anything, and never even tried to, tell people who have created billions of dollars worth of those things out of nothing, that they need to pay their fair share.
Wait till Dems find out that the prize behind door #3 is even worse than the other two. It could a Winnebago, but most likely a baby's arm holding an apple.

LOL!
Trump made a deal to bring diesel prices down you retard.
Haven't you been complaining about Diesel prices for months?
Oh wait you realized people have figured out that Zelensky and Democrats are responsible for high diesel prices.
Time for moar RUSSIAN COLLUSION hoax then I guess.
The best thing that could happen in the midterms is for the Democrats to take control of the House and spend the 2 years leading into 2028 showing everyone how much they hate the US and want it to fail.
1. They could impeach Trump 64 more times.
2. They could vote to defund border enforcement and defund ICE.
3. They could show solidarity with Iran.
4. They could pass an amnesty bill.
5. They could block audits of mail in ballots.
Meanwhile Trump is going to lead a reindustrialization of the country while the house subpoena's Elon Musk 23 times to demand he stop employing so many people and creating so much wealth.
"to demand he stop employing so many people and creating so much wealth."
Democrat policies suck. Anyone who demonstrates that with his actions is an enemy that must be stopped.
The problem for Democrats is so many of their voters are jumping on planes to go to France right now to go shopping.
They might not make it back in time for the midterms.
The more nervous MAGA gets about the midterms, the louder the rhetoric seems to become. When the polls look bad and the political reality gets harder to defend, some supporters compensate with bluster, personal attacks, and conspiracy theories. It's less a sign of confidence than an attempt to project it.
“The fact that Trump is cozying up to Putin by exempting Russia from further sanctions required by law should also be a considered. He is single-handedly helping Russia at every opportunity. He is effectively becoming a fifth column for Putin.”
Yes. It fits your narrative of Russia! Russia! Russia! But remember, that fable was concocted by the Clinton campaign to distract from knowledge that the Ruskies, and probably Chinese and Israelis, had hacked the illegal email server that she was using instead of the secure government servers that she was obliged by law, to use. The Russians were apparently getting and reading copies of her classified email on a riutine basis - sometimes even before she did.
“The fact that Trump is cozying up to Putin by exempting Russia from further sanctions required by law should also be a considered. He is single-handedly helping Russia at every opportunity. He is effectively becoming a fifth column for Putin.”
That’s just Trump’s signature negotiating tactic. He does the same thing with Xi from China, and the Ukranian president. Reward in public. Give them the bad news in private. And no doubt did the same doing business in NY, or even building this hotel in Las Vegas. Nothing special about Putin, except that he may see through it better than most. Xi always looks a bit overcome by it, and by Trump, when the two of them are together.
MAGA is not nervous about the midterms. We don't roll like that. We will try our best to win and if we don't win, we'll try again later. That's all there is to it. We know that if the Dems take power they'll blow it and send it back to us anyway. We also know that every good performance by the right is a surprise never predicted, and that enthusiasm by the left before an election is usually just marketing, media bias, and metal illness. It's there every time - win or lose.
We've seen a lot of agitation propaganda and activist clamoring that we must 'Stop ICE ! !'. But aside from the newsclips, has anybody witnessed any American clamoring for more illegal immigrants? Like this would be a great thing, or even a preference? I haven't.
'..Is anyone actually in charge of the Democrat Party ?...'
Sure - the same people that were in charge of the Biden White House. You had 4 years to learn the moves. What looks different to you now? You'll never see a face, but you'll know them by their moves. Same people.
Courtesy Babylon Bee: IEE and ilk, “Gas prices are too high. Let’s vote to open the border and mutilate more children.” (Nervous rhetoric on my part, of course. Nobody is that irresponsibly stupid.)
"We've seen a lot of agitation propaganda and activist clamoring that we must 'Stop ICE ! !'"
ICE enforces immigration law.
Rhetorical question: Why does the left want to stop enforcing the law?
I disagree with the purported parallel between conservatives, committed to what they saw as Constitutional order, and the DSA, which has stated extra-Constitutional goals.
The Republicans are supposed to lose - that's the historical norm. What's not normal is how radical the Democrat candidates are. It's the Dems that should be nervous, because these people are going to cost the party plenty either now or later.

@ Bruce Hayden: That’s a lot of words to avoid addressing the actual issue. Given your legal background, I’m sure you appreciate the distinction between an allegation and an established fact.
Clinton’s private email server was a legitimate security concern. But it does not erase the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee’s findings that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and that Putin sought to help Trump’s electoral prospects. Those are separate issues.
And the claim that Russian, Chinese and Israeli hackers routinely read Clinton’s classified emails before she did? Where is the evidence for that specific allegation?
Now, in October 2026, Trump has waived sanctions under a law he signed to increase pressure on Russia. Putin’s government benefits from that decision.
You can criticize Clinton’s judgment and still hold Trump accountable for his own foreign policy. Why should one excuse the other?
“Russia, Russia, Russia” isn’t a rebuttal to what Trump is doing now. It’s a distraction from it.
Bruce Hayden write: 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘛𝘳𝘶𝘮𝘱’𝘴 𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘨𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤.
Calling it Trump’s “signature negotiating tactic” doesn’t make it effective diplomacy. Where’s the evidence that publicly rewarding Putin will produce meaningful concessions in private?
Trump signed the Graham Act to impose additional pressure on Russia, then waived key sanctions and tariffs before they took effect. He says it’s in the national interest, but Zelensky says the decision benefits Moscow.
If this is a negotiating strategy, what exactly is Putin giving up in return? Where’s the verifiable concession?
Comparing Putin to Xi or Zelensky doesn’t answer that question. Different leaders, different conflicts, different consequences.
A tactic should be judged by its results, not by how confidently its supporters explain it after the fact. What has Putin actually conceded in exchange for the sanctions relief?

“Clinton’s private email server was a legitimate security concern. But it does not erase the bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee’s findings that Russia interfered in the 2016 election and that Putin sought to help Trump’s electoral prospects. Those are separate issues.”
Well, except that significant information was hidden from Congress and Trump, by primarily the FBI, but also the CIA. THE FBI had an entire room filled with burn bags of classified documents, that wasn’t on the floor plans, and hidden charging codes for the time spent on the projects, as well as in the case management system. These were only found this year, after Dir Patel ordered a full physical search of the building and computer systems. What the Senate saw 7-8 years ago was what the FBI wanted them to see, and in particular, their Counterintelligence Division that was in charge of both Midyear Exam (Clinton email) and Crossfire Hurricane (Trump RussiaGate) investigations. Turns out there was never enough reasonable suspicion to launch the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. Peter Strzok, a CD branch chief, and his minions faked the whole thing - all to make sure that Clinton didn’t lose. Yes - he admitted it, in text messages to his illicit lover, Lisa Page, DD McCade’s dedicated in-house attorney.
The reality is that the Russians greatly preferred Clinton over Trump. They had compromised her. They hadn’t done so for Trump. That’s the reality from seeing the 2026 evidence. Not from the highly manipulated 2016-7 information that the Senate saw.
“And the claim that Russian, Chinese and Israeli hackers routinely read Clinton’s classified emails before she did? Where is the evidence for that specific allegation?”
Among other things, code in Clinton’s email server that forwarded everything that she received to at least the Russians. Significant evidence that there were plenty of other intrusions.
"Refining capacity losses and refined-product shortages have had a larger impact on end-user fuel prices (especially diesel and gasoline) than the pure crude-supply shortfall, even though both are important." ~ worldports.org
Clinton's email was known to be vulnerable and compromised. If you want to believe that the email of the Secretary of State and the anticipated President of the U.S would be ignore by the Intelligence agencies of our enemies in that situation, that's something you can assume, but I wouldn't.
