The feeling I had when I saw ISIS blowing up the famous stone Buddhas on the Silk Road, using artillery, was that they were taking something from all of us, by brute force, with a bloody-minded determination to make it clear that it was an eradication. They were stealing more than just a Heritage site.
What should have happened was an immediate air strike, and an obliteration of anybody within 5 or 10 miles. Anybody.
The 3½% rule might be a nice rule of thumb, but it depends on people not getting wise themselves. And it would appear that this is now happening in the streets of those countries, especially Italy. Fix it with clubs. That's my prescription.

I blogged this because, among other things, it fits my longterm interest in the critique of tourism (AKA "travel").

Anyway...my wife and I just got back last night from a couple of weeks in Northern Italy. For a few days we were in Turin, a beautiful, regal city with an amazing history. And while there we walked smack into a large protest, complete with Palestinian (or were they Jordanian?) flags...for some reason. Yesterday and today we were supposed to be in Milan, but...given the mess caused by leftists/Muslims in Milan (among other cities) we flew home instead.
Europe is amazing and they are in the process of losing their cultures, histories, architecture (as it gets burned down), artwork, statues, and more- if they don't get control of things. Perhaps the food also as the cafes get replaced by Kebab shops.
People who scoff at this are today's useful idiots. As they say, you'll miss it when it's gone.
