"Thank God we had him. Otherwise, it would have been much worse. It's a terrible thing, but thank goodness for a man that had a gun and knew how to use it."

Said President Trump, quoted in "Hero bystander who took down Oregon school shooter comes forward" (CBS News).

Now the $64,000 question (s).

Was the 16 year old shooter trans?

Was the 16 year old using daddies gun?

Was the 16 year old 'on the police radar'?

Will the DA try to charge the CCW holder with entering a school with a gun?

Aggie చెప్పారు...

The analysis will be interesting. I've read that it was his mother's shotgun, maybe a home defense weapon then? But a pump-action shotgun has limited shell capacity, maybe 5 or 6 unless the plug is removed but even then.... One for the car that he shot up, two for the locked entryway doors, five victims..... The dad's definitely a hero running in against a shotgun, I wonder what he was packing.

RCOCEAN II చెప్పారు...

Good for the hero dad for killing this creep. Another wacko with a gun. I can only echo the comment upthread. Is this another loonie trans character? Or someone on "depression medicine"?

I grew up in a small town where everyone had a shotgun or a rifle. Either for self-defense or hunting. No violence. A kid got in a deadly shootout with a policeman 10 years before I graduated. So rare, people still talked about it.

Now, it seems like there's some young oddball trying to kill Kids - or the POTUS. Something is going on.

This good Samaritan is a great man who saved many, many lives. The police were not going to stop the shooter. Most police departments still advise their officers to wait until four or five officers arrive before they enter a building together. Active shooter responses typically mean that a considerable period of time passes from the first 911 call until the police enter the building. Basically, the shooter is going to kill until he decides to commit suicide.

RCOCEAN II చెప్పారు...

In 1340, the murder rate in London has been estimated to be between 36 and 52 per 100,000. In York during the same decade, the rate lay between 60 and 110 per 100,000. Alcohol-fuel student brawls accounted for the difference. In the United States it was 6.6 per 100,000 last fiscal year.

Those medieval undergrads had no guns, but they had knives, clubs, and fists, just like Oxfordshire today. Nothing has changed in 700 years except law enforcement and the speed of spurious communications.

Braver than the usually brave. Usually when a CCW holder saves lives like this he's already there and in danger himself with little choice, but this guy was outside driving by when he heard the shots. He chose to go into the building knowing there was a live shooter shooting and maybe more than one. The shooter had a 12 Gauge shotgun and was unlikely to miss if he got one off at you. My definition of heroic: choosing to risk likely serious harm to oneself to help others.

This happened in a place with every possible gun restriction that gun haters want was already in place, including being a clear no-gun zone. The hero had to ignore the laws to save these kids. All those laws only prevented legal carriers but not murders from carrying guns there. Thank God this guy ignored them. The leftist laws would have even more kids killed that day, and some ass who likes that bargain jokes about the tree of liberty and children's blood like it's on somebody else's hands.

bagoh20 చెప్పారు...

If he was shot at outside and pursued the shooter inside, that's even more impressive; I read that he had just left the school when he heard shots. The kid did shoot once outside and then blasted his way through locked doors to get in. Unlikely the guy saw him outside and didn't shoot him then. The shooter had already shot numerous times inside before the hero got to him.

Depends on the kids. I grew up on guns that were kept on the rifle rack in the back room. Was into hunting and fishing by age 15. Deer hunting by age 16! First deer rifle was a old 7mm Mauser ex military rifle. First 'real' deer rifle was a Marlin 30/30 (age 16... got my first deer!)

I suggest, once again, that the solution (not perfect, of course) is that we allow the people to whom we trust the raising of our children to carry the weapons necessary to defend them.
Yes, teachers.
Those who are uncomfortable with carrying weapons (locked in safes in their classrooms) need not do so. Those who accept the responsibility can be required to be trained in the appropriate handling and security of the weapons in the school environment.
I believe that this has been the case in parts of Texas for a long time. (Not Uvalde).
If we can't trust teachers to defend our children, why do we allow them to have custody of our children for most of our children's lives?

Uvalde, Texas, proved beyond all doubt that one cannot rely on law enforcement officers to muster up the courage to engage a school shoote, even when there are dozens of tbem. In 2018 a school resource officer in Great Mills HS in St. Mary’s County Maryland quickly engaged and stopped a school shooter, but in that same year the “Coward from Broward” hid outside the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School while Nikolas Cruz was killing students inside. Worse, it was later determined that the Sheriff’s Deputies assembled the surviving students in a courtyard overlooked by the building where Cruz committed the murders — and where he still was moving freely with his loaded rifle. Cruz testified that he tried to kill a few more of the students so carefully lined up for him by the Sheriff’s Department, but the hurricane-resistant windows resisted his bullets too.

Which is why we need and have concealed carry.

A propaganda campaign of accusations does not establish facts. See the comments of John Spenser on urban warfare: https://www.johnspenceronline.com/media
No, the IDF is not committing war crimes or a genocide no matter how many photos of injured children Hamas publishes. Imagine fighting a war by putting children in harms way. This is is the strategy of Hamas, a sick terrorist group which stores rockets and RPG's in children's bedrooms and playrooms.
Why do disturbed individuals such as the teenage killer attack innocent people and why do unbalanced people lie and obsessively target the state of Israel/the Jews? I think it's the same mentally diseased process but the only difference is in degree.

There have been others that were definitely a planned mass shooting interrupted by a CCW holder, like the guy with a pistol who made a 60-yard kill on a shooter in a shopping mall food court a few years ago. And there have been some where the shooter was known to be deranged and might have been planning to take as many with him as he could, but got dropped before more than one or two people fell victim to him, so it's hard to know if it was just a random criminal or something even worse. The media obviously is at great pains not to publicize any of these cases.
