I'm a little puzzled by the "law degree in China" stuff. I don't know what that means. Therefore, I don't know whether it matters or not.
Also, the following is completely shallow, and I acknowledge it, but: I did find those big top buttons and where they were positioned a distraction. I disliked how they drew my eyes. But maybe that's fa eature, not a bug? I dunno. I don't get into fashion the way so many do, and I mostly don't care, but, there it is.
I'm a little surprised Althouse didn't comment on the fashion aspect (tbc, I don't expect her to comment on anything specifically: her blog, her choice, full stop).

I wouldn't trust the NYT's take on it, but from what I saw it wasn't horrible, but wasn't great either. You'd think that in hiring someone for this position they would provide some training in presentation skills. Maybe they did and it's still a work in progress. Practically every job I've had has offered or required that training, and my jobs haven't involved being on national television or speaking to a bunch of jackals.

That said, Leavitt was a consummate pro, so it's a tough act to follow. Any critic should review their opinions about KJP, as a bias test. By any measure, KJP was in way over her head and manifestly unqualified.

The White House and Zacharia call her an attorney, but neither has produced verifiable proof of bar admission. A law degree alone doesn’t authorize legal practice. Apparently, in this administration, the distinction between having credentials and claiming credentials is just another technicality best left unexplored.
