Said Sex Pistols singer Frank Carter, quoted in "Sex Pistols singer Frank Carter clashes with male concertgoer for crashing women-only mosh pit: ‘Just f–king leave'" (NY Post).
I thought the women-only section was justified by the physical difference between male and female bodies, that it was the same issue we see in the effort to limit women's sports to biological women, but no: Carter also said: "When I say a ladies-only moshpit pit, I of course mean a trans-inclusionary space. The space is for people who don’t usually feel safe."
Was there any way for this "male concertgoer" to identify as one of the "people who don’t usually feel safe"? What about smaller men? Younger/older men? Anxious/autistic men? Timid men? What "lived experience" matters? I can see all sorts of people wanting to enjoy the kinder, gentler mosh pit.
But anyway, when did the Sex Pistols become prissily politically correct? Or is your question who is Frank Carter? Answer: here. I know he sprinkled his discourse with "fucking," but he said "lived experience" and "trans-inclusionary." I admit I haven't followed the evolution of the Sex Pistols over the years.

I was involved in a mosh pit just one time, decades and decades ago. That was enough. At 5 feet 1-1/2 inches (then; I'm now at an even 5 feet), it was indeed a miserable, sort of scary experience, and there was a lot of head-whacking involved, and feeling trapped. Obviously, I chose to participate, so it was on me, and I learned to steer clear.
I wouldn't do it again even in a separate environment, especially at my age, but I do like the idea of there being a separate option, especially on behalf of those among us who are "height-challenged," lol.
In my younger days, it did sometimes seem as if I was a logical target to just be "picked up." This occurred outside of a mosh-pit type of environment. Even shorter men were able to do that. I wasn't a child, but sometimes I felt I was in that category. It was cute for about a hot minute when I was a freshman in college, but the thrill immediately passed. Avoidance became my friend.
Was any way for this "male concertgoer" to identify as one of the "people who don’t usually feel safe"?”
Yes, it’s like same day voter registration, if you want to go in the girl pit you should be able to just say you’re a girl three times, or something. Anything else is contradictory. Do they want to see some effort? Like fishnet stockings?
Woke Pistols?
Were he in a grave, Johnny Rotten would be spinning like a top.
Frank Carter must not read the Nebraska Law Review. If he did, he’d know that for purposes of athletic competition, there’s no difference between men and women.
As a matter of federal law, mosh pits should be co-ed.
The band Rush now has a young female drummer. Progressive comment: first female to play in the band. Joke: first female ever to appear at a Rush show. That's not Punk, which advocates violence. It's nerd rock.
There's nihilism for the wolves, and then nihilism for the sheep.
Do they have diagrams on the floor for where each version of all 6 genders are supposed to stand?
Anything goes unless it doesn't, which means it's a violation, and we'll decide what that is and when.
Also the sexism in rock and roll is shocking! As in "I am shocked!, shocked! to find that gambling is going on in here."
Sims or homos? Both.
That said, according to the politically congruent ("="), there are two genders: cis and trans. A burden is a "burden" is a burden. Abort.
Altenate headline:
Sex Pistols Become the Police
Wasn't Punk all about being transgressive?
Wouldn't the mosh pit of a Sex Pistols concert be almost entirely 60 to 70 year old worrying about their arthritic hips?
"I never thought I'd live to see the day when the right wing would become to cool ones giving the middle finger to the establishment, and the left wing become the sniveling self-righteous twatty ones going around shaming everyone."
~John Lydon AKA Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols
The right-wing is libertarian. The left-wing is liberal. Progress is monotonic. Throw another baby on the barbie, it's over. That said, Dreams of Herr Mengele.
This is all part of the plan.
If they can get you to speak a lie that you know is a lie they have you fully under control.
We need rational Pistols, reasonable control.
The male concertgoer: "Hey, Frankie Boy, never mind my bollocks!"
If I still can't stand Rush, does that make me a sexist?
So the left side of the political spectrum has clearly gone batshit crazy, where words, science, and facts have lost all meaning. My question is: how did that happen? And my eternal question fits again: "What will stop it?
How did he know the person he yelled at was male?
Liberalism is a philosophy of divergence. #PrinciplesMatter
Progressivism is a philosophy of monotonic change. Abort.
"How did he know the person he yelled at was male?"
He wasn't attractive. The Pistol must be trans (e.g. homo) and Diversitist (i.e. class-disordered), Equivocal, and Inane (DEIst).
This just seems like the opposite of everything John Lydon has stood for over the years. Who would even go to a Pistols gig without him?! I'll go see a PiL gig instead thanks.
"..The internet informs me that Frank Carter is 42 years old..."
a middle aged man, fronting 3 geriatric cases, and pretending to be something.
speaking as a person that bought their first 2 (and ONLY 2) albums back in the 80's (when they were cutouts in the bargin bin), wouldn't the Sex Pistols be MORE RELEVANT if they moved to Canada and MAID the right decision?
Just looked at the Wiki page for Bell Hooks.
I don't think this Frank guy really gets what the Sex Pistols were doing.
Just click your heels together 3 times, and mince.
In this tar pit, we respect selfie-identified pronouns. Maybe, 👶, maybe not.
There are a lot more important issues than men pretending to be women in order to access single sex spaces (unless you're a woman in a domestic violence shelter or a prison or a locker room, then you're in serious trouble).
The internet informs me that Frank Carter is 42 years old
.... and the rest of the Sex Pistols are 92. They can barely squirt water.
"bell" is also lower-case.
The actual Sex Pistols would sh-t, p-ss, and p-ke all over their "safe space." Didn't the one who's still alive even have good words for Trump?
""bell" is also lower-case."
Of course it is.
(Yeah, yeah. My handle is lower case because I was pretty lazy about 10 years ago when I first posted. I don't pretend that it's my name).
The Sex Pistols are still around? Who knew? I haven't been in a mosh pit for over 35 years.
A mosh pit. A tar pit. A cesspit.
And here, this whole time, I'd been thinking they're nihilists.
"When I say a ladies-only moshpit pit, I of course mean a trans-inclusionary space. The space is for people who don’t usually feel safe."
You can't, logically, use "safe" as an adjective for "moshpit." About 30 years ago, my roommate went to go see the band, X, play and jumped in the moshpit. He was a pretty muscular guy who was also a good martial artist. We ended up having to take him to the emergency room with a triple skull fracture.
Also, Frank Carter was not a member of the band, The Sex Pistols. (He was actually born six years after the Sex Pistols broke up.) He's the current lead singer of a band named, The Rattlesnakes, and sang with three members of the original Sex Pistols for a fundraiser two years ago. Now it looks like he is going on tour with the three former band members for a while in Australia.
It's not your livid affirmative therapy.
More gay race communist blatherskite from the boomers and SWPLs i see. Dancing without assaultive behavior is just too fucking much for some people I guess. Hell's Bells REQUIRE those assholes to only be at the mosh pits then. To paraphrase from Johnny Cash's song A Boy Named Sue, they'll either "get tough or die" and so the rest of us win either way.
*of course mean a trans-inclusionary space.*
I will be very happy when the insanity of this fad is behind us.
The problem is they're bound to come up with something worse. They always do.
I was at the first Pistols show in America (Great Southeast Music Hall, Atlanta GA. Those guys woulda kicked this guys ass. Can’t believe they didn’t do it right there. SAD! It’s a mosh pit, if ya can’t hang don’t do it.
Fucking X is incredible. The whole roots/country/punk/rock thing is as American as music gets, what came out of Cali late 70’s to mid 80’s is a soundtrack to me. And they all say they channel Gram. Hell yeah. Except Dave Alvin and the blues, meh.
Is Frank Carter using that PC stuff to let loose all his inner anger? I'd be more scared of him than of some guy in a women's mosh pit. I also wonder about the women's mosh pit. Was there a "no men" sign? Was there an announcement? Was there another separate but equal men's mosh pit? And how many women were willing to mosh and be moshed?

"Fucking X is incredible."
Agreed. I remember seeing X and the Alley Cats at the Starwood in Hollywood back in the early 80s. At some point Rodney Bingenheimer showed up with a small entourage. That's why I always shake my head when younger people constantly misrepresent what the punk movement was to fit their current cultural beliefs.
