BREAKING: After falling -80% from its record high, Nike,
$NKE, will be removed from the S&P 100 at the end of this month, ending a near 18-year run in the index.

The stock has now erased -$230 billion in market cap since its all time high.

A collapse for the history books.

Nike's stock was $167.31 on November 5, 2021.
It closed Friday at $38.40.

And now they're getting removed from the S&P 100 on September 21.

The more one considers how the Democrats have been operating and how they’ve performed, it calls into question why the even continue as a political party. Impeaching Trump twice, the avalanche of lawfare continuing even today, they behave as anti-American criminals. Their infiltration of institutions and the bureaucracy gives them more power - even after losing elections - than any criminal enterprise should EVER have.

In the news: a female Egyptian “glamor” TV star will face execution by hanging for her involvement in a drug ring. In Vietnam, 11 people will face lethal injection for their roles in the drug trade.

Now, segue to Wales in the UK. The BBC reports that a prisoner there was making somewhere around 250,000 British Pounds a month from prison by organizing drug deliveries - from prison. He had been caught on 6 occasions with cell phones. He had tested positive for cocaine usage. In prison. He had his prison issued laptop taken from him… not because he was using it for illicit purposes, but because he had… damaged the screen.

Read the again: HIS PRISON ISSUED LAPTOP.

WHY IS AN INCARCERATED ACTIVE DRUG LORD ISSUED A LAPTOP???

It is further reported that organized crime rings on the outside were concerned about his ability to pay them (and probably the prison guards also), and so as the guards looked away, he was found hanged in his cell (flashbacks of Epstein).

Two completely different worlds.

Blame it on the House of Drug Lords.

New York was hit by several tornadoes the other night. My daughter and family were out celebrating her birthday as one touched down in her town and paraded right through her yard. A few trees uprooted and a lot of downed branches, but no damage to the house. The subsequent power outage meant they lost all the food in their freezer and fridge. Her 20 minute drive to work the next morning took 45 minutes.

We had them for dinner Friday night and during dinner they got the message from NYSEG that their power was restored. I had bought a 5¼ lb prime rib roast from Walmart for $13.95/lb (Not a typo- $13.95/lb) and it seemed an appropriate occasion to share.

Brings up the question of where Walmart found vacuum packed prime rib roasts it could sell at that price, but I didn't worry about that. I saw the price, I bought one that seemed right sized for us. There were no leftovers and everyone filled up. When I go out tomorrow I'm going to check their meat counter carefully. But we are going to split the cost on half a cow. I bought a whole one last time, and am just reaching the end of the ground beef chubs. I'd have to completely empty my freezer to share a whole cow again.

Nominated for 11 Academy Awards in 1977. 11! 1977 would be the year of Star Wars. So now we know what all the grown-ups were watching in 1977. This crap here!

I'll bet you haven’t even heard of this movie. I never heard of this movie. So it's an unknown classic I should see, right? Huh.

The reason you've never heard of this movie, it sucks beans. It's an unwatchable horror. With ballet. It's a Mikhail Baryshnikov love story. That’s another reason you haven’t heard of the movie. He's fresh off the boat from the USSR, he barely speaks English, and he's never acted in his life. Hello. You can't just throw him out there. Herb Ross is the culprit. Herb! Baby! This is a train wreck. And Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft running around screaming at each other about crap that happened in 1959. "You got pregnant because he wasn't queer!" And now Mikhail is going to seduce her underage teen daughter. Oh no!

This will be interesting. As soon as Fox reported it this morning, which is the first we heard, I told her it was presented as if it was Right Wing violence against a lefty. This will NOT be that when the facts come out.” The media universe is highly vigilant for and eager to report on RoL violence because they are very invested in the Myth of RW Violence and would very much like to counter the record of nearly all political violence being LW in origin and RW or centrist in victims.

Please take the time to find reporting that provides evidence.

Eva Marie చెప్పారు...

In a more cynical light one could see her constant visits to medical providers without giving them her medical history as medicine shopping.

On the other hand, the pill counts show she didn’t take a lot of the medications she was prescribed. So it’s tough to figure out exactly what was going on.

I don’t have a mind to change - wait that didn’t come out right.
I really don’t have a strong position either way. For me, it’s the outcome that determines what course of action as a society we should take. Motivations are just unknowable. You may very well be right that the medications were partially or mostly to blame. It doesn’t change what happened. Either way she needs to be separated from society.

None of this is important.

She strangled her children. She looked into their eyes while they were struggling against her after sending her husband on an errand.

If she is not executed or permanently incarcerated then this will lead to a general undermining of faith in the justice system.

Yes, that is one part of what I am suggesting. The recklessness with which these powerful chemicals are dispensed is shocking. What a used-up word, shocking. We want to help people locked into misery inside their minds, but we know so little about what is going on there.

The other part of what I am suggesting is that western civilization will not collapse if this one woman is shown a touch of mercy. God knows she needs it right now.

Will she make new babies and kill them too? This does not seem likely, to me.

Kai Akker చెప్పారు...

--- Also, the results of the markets have never seemed to change their mind. [Leland]

Do you have a mind to change, Toro?

Here is an interesting fact about the markets. When the last super-bear market ended, in 1982, the Dow Jones Industrials closed at 777 on Friday the 13th of August. All the major averages made their lows that day. The next Monday morning, stocks took off and did not look back for a long time.

There had been nominally lower lows in 1974, but inflation was changing values relentlessly all that time, and those Aug. 13, 1982, lows represented the bottom in purchasing power for the stock averages.

This year, the highs to date have come at different times -- for example, the NASDAQ peaks came in early June around the time we were having our last discussion of this. Consumer stock averages had topped back in January and February.

It is a long way from Dow 777 to Dow 54,631. And that DJIA peak occurred on Aug. 5 this year. But it was interesting to see the S&P 500 peak of 7816 come right on the same day as that low day in 1982, on Aug. 13.

We will see how long that peak remains as the high water mark. Could be a while, IMO.

Eva Marie చెప్పారు...

“The other part of what I am suggesting is that western civilization will not collapse if this one woman is shown a touch of mercy. God knows she needs it right now“
So far, after the misplaced outpouring of sympathy, there have been 2 instances of copycat killings of children by their mothers. Unbalanced people don’t need this kind of incentive to act out their deranged thoughts. Sympathy and justice for the children who died.
