"On Friday, a three-judge panel temporarily revived the Trump Administration’s executive order requiring strict new security and transparency standards for mail-in voting ahead of the 2026 midterms."
"It merely requires all mail and absentee ballots to be placed in secure envelopes marked with the official Election Mail logo. More importantly, it requires Intelligent Mail Barcodes to track ballots throughout the entire mailing process, start to finish.
States must even provide a pre-mailing notice to USPS —a “Mail-In and Absentee Participation List”— detailing the voters who’ll be included and the unique barcode associated with each voter.
Why does this terrify Democrats? Because it closes two of the biggest, most obvious vectors for mail-in ballot fraud.
First, it eliminates the “last-minute manufactured ballot” problem. By requiring states to submit a list of expected mail-in voters before the ballots go out, and tying each ballot to a unique, trackable barcode, it becomes mathematically impossible for a sudden, unexplained pallet of ballots to mysteriously appear at a counting center at 3:00 a.m. If the barcode wasn’t on the pre-approved outbound list, the USPS system flags it.
And if a ballot is not in the USPS database at all— then it must have come from somewhere else.
Second, it stops any backdating of postmarks. One of the persistent concerns with mail-in voting has been the potential for corrupt postal workers to illegally backdate postmarks on ballots received after Election Day, allowing late ballots to be counted anyway.
The Intelligent Mail Barcode tracks the ballot’s physical progress all the way through the postal system in real-time. A manual, backdated ink stamp means nothing if the digital barcode scan shows the ballot didn’t enter the postal stream until two days after the election."
Sounds like sensible reform.

I was in the middle of the Boundary Waters canoe wilderness a few years ago, during a dry spell. The only mechanical sound we heard for the week was when a Canadian water bomber skimmed the lake we were traversing to pick up a load and return to the fire a few miles away.
I notice the location of some of the bigger fire areas are in NW Ontario, more populated and closer to the US border, but the severest ones that seem to be generating the worst smoke are in Saskatchewan and way up in the Northwest Territories.

In Trump'"s speech -- he made several unsubstantiated claims. One of them was about China interfering in the 2020 election. He talked about vulnerabilities in the US voting system. He said that our elections were left vulnerable to being rigged and stolen.
He said the Chinese government wanted him to lose the next election, which I guess is the midterm election because of his tariff strategy. And he said that some of the documents that were released revealed that members of a deep state had been working actively to suppress and downplay information about the extent of China's sinister election meddling.
The irony to me of the whole speech was that basically Trump released this huge tranche of documents that have been classified up until now. But the documents that he released actually rebut the claims he made during the course of that speech. And one of the claims was that China had interfered by somehow stealing these data roles. But actually, it turns out that those voter roles were available on commercial websites.
Another of the claims that he made was that foreign interference had been working against Trump as opposed to for Trump, which is what we know in the case of Russia. And then the irony I felt of the whole speech was that in one of the documents that he released, it says that adversaries could make wholly fabricated claims that they have compromised all US voting machines and those claims could introduce public doubts about the validity of the election and undercut public confidence in the election. That comes from one of the documents Trump released.
What was he doing for half an hour from the East Room of the White House? He was doing the work of the people that America's own intelligence community in one of the documents that he declassified calls America's adversaries. Given these contradictions, it’s difficult to take the claims in that speech at face value.

The tracking mechanism will allow querying, which can reveal mass mailings, i.e. multiple ballots mailed at the same time.
I see elsewhere that the SAVE Act is being reconfigured to allow attaching it to the budget reconciliation process, where it can pass with simple majority in the Senate. However, I fear that the key points will be stripped - i.e., photo ID for voting and citizenship proof for registering. I hope this isn't the case, but the perfidy of RINO Senators seems to have the conspiratorial support of the media, which allows them to continue pretending that it 'can't be passed because we don't have the votes'.

…they already did that but the house attached save to a bill in a way it was easy for the senate to strip it out. Republicans are playing games. They don’t want it passed. Forget it…
