There's something slightly feral about a wet duck...especially a rogue duck...coming right at you...unreadable...implacable.

In other news, Freddy Cannon died. Remember "Transistor Sister"? It was the first 45 I bought. Must have been '62.

@MadTownGuy--

Who could have predicted that? Have they released casualty figures?

Down here, four people killed and nine maimed in a public park, but they were all "community" so . . .

Is Madison burning?

Madison is always burning.

The first photo. I like the symmetry. All is in order with Saturday morning, in the big scheme of things.

Berlin police say they have identified a suspect with ties to Islamic extremist circles after a van plowed into crowds at the city’s major LGBTQ celebration Saturday night.

Wake up, lefties.

'...Under Title 21-A, Section 331 of Maine election law, "a person may not file, whether by primary election or nomination petition, as a candidate for more than one federal, state or county office at any election." He also points to Section 351, which imposes similar restrictions, and Section 363, which requires that a political committee filling a nomination vacancy "shall choose a qualified person to fill the vacancy."...'

Oh, dear. Troy Jackson might actually not be eligible to run for the Maine Senate, because he already ran for governor this year, in the same November 2026 election.

I'm sure Shenna Bellows will make an impartial decision.

After Trump's sundowning episode last night, many political reporters have suggested the White House Correspondents' Dinner be replaced with a White House Correspondents' Brunch.

"my paternal grandfather--known to all as Pop--used to pronounce "film"--"fillum."

Reminds me of the 3 Stooges when they're on a ship with Borscht, a Russian spy who hides stolen microfilm in a watermelon. "Give me that fill-um!"

I knew the name Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon, but not the music. I assumed he was black, like "Welcome Back, Kotter's" Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington, and not an Italian from Boston's North Shore. Cannon certainly had a lot of energy, as much Jolson as rock 'n roll. Another surprise: Palisades Park, which I knew from ads in old Superman comic books, has been closed since 1971 and was torn down.

Someone with a legitimate interest in the Maine Democratic Senate candidacy will have to file suit in the First Federal Court to get the district's Court of Appeals to act on the replacement candidacy of Troy Jackson, with such an action unlikely by a Democrat because there is little time to run a campaign before election day.

I love the third sunrise picture.

Oh no, ‘fly.

Anyway…

LOL. Right, because you can’t expect any Democrat to insist to follow the law when.that gets in the way of electing any Democrat. Silly goose.

Freddy Cannon also released the Svengoolie Stomp and appeared on the show within the last few years. CC, JSM

When I had to go to meetings with the SCLC (Not SPLC) Left, as part of a lobbying coalition, whites were told they were not allowed to speak. We were asked to sit in the back rows. At news conferences, we had to stand behind the blacks and keep quiet, except for Stuart Acuff, boyfriend of Cynthia McKinney and head of Atlanta's labor coalition, who protected fake company unions screwing poor workers all over the South. Later, he of course worked for Obama, a dolt who knows nothing about unions or organizing. I did not want any union, seeing how they destroyed my grandfather in Bed Sty, but I had a workforce that was going to get one or another imposed on them.

Two men objected: Rev. Orange ( not well known, but a good, good man), and Hosea Williams, well known, and kind of the rogue of the Civil Rights Movement. I was only 22, looked younger and I must say hot as I ever did as I busted my ass 16 hours a day, had natural long, red-black curly hair then, stonewashed jeans and steeltoe boots, but those men both treated me with nothing but respect. I was always the only person in the room under 50, let alone 80. Rev. Orange was ill, dying, so he would get to a seat early like me, and he taught me how horrible it was for poor people, black but also white, until very recently in the South. I learned words like Pellagra. It was an historian's dream: I was transported back 50 years. The state archive had one thin folder on them.

Christopher B ayon kay ...

IANAL and did about 5 minutes research with Gemini but that objection to Troy Jackson running for Maine Senate appears to be pretty thin. The quoted portion of the statute clearly points via the subordinate clause 'primary election or nomination petition' to a person appearing for different offices on the same general election ballot. It's pretty clear that 'sore loser' laws such as the one upheld in Storer v Brown are intended to prevent candidates from filing as independents for the same office they sought in a primary process, not another office entirely. The 'two-stage' commentary was the justification for allowing California to require disaffiliation at least seven months prior to a primary election (one year prior to the general election)

I didn't read from Aggie's post anything that has to happen at a timeline convenient to democrats.

Mike (MJB Wolf) ayon kay ...

The lame excuse “little time to run a campaign before election day” should not matter when enforcing the law.

Fun fact of the day.

About 75,000 noncitizens are summoned for jury duty in New Jersey each year, according to the New Jersey judiciary.

Keep in mind that the jury pool is selected in part from the voter roles.

Big Mike ayon kay ...

A thought experiment. If it was the Republicans in this bind, would Democrats refrain from legal challenges on the grounds thst there was “little time to run a campaign before election day”?

I’m an old man — I remember when campaigns didn’t really begin before Labor Day.

I understand tgst in his extensive police file Ruiz was identified as “white.” Or, given his surname, he probably should be identified as Hispanic.
