It was very hot — 80° at sunrise — and really humid. No rain though.

I wasn't strong enough in my condemnation of humidity in my post above. Let me correct that.

HUMIDITY. ICK! ICK! ICK! Amirite?

80 is hot? really?

But a lot of people in winter, keep their houses at 78 degrees?

Sounds like a nice day

It's about 84 here right now. It is not "hot" until 94 or so. And that is not even really hot, just a normal warm day.

I asked AI "Is humidity icky?" It agrees with me. I got the following reply, so I guess I'm ok with AI taking over the world -- it is getting the important things right.

Why Humidity Feels "Icky"
Sweating: When humidity is high, sweat does not evaporate efficiently, which is the body's natural cooling mechanism. This can leave you feeling clammy and uncomfortable.

It’s only hitting 91 today, and the high eighties for the next few days. So, cooling off a bit.

The sun’s so hot and direct here that recently my little, elderly Havanese doesn’t want to go outside because the sidewalk and driveway burn his little feet. So that’s a pain.

There’ve been days over the past month when the handle in my front screen door is actually too hot to the touch. That took me aback, both literally and figuratively.

I’m keeping the house between 78 and 80 because I got whacked by a helluva utility bill. Fans, both standing and ceiling, are my friends! Looking forward to the even slight cool-off.

I’m in central Florida (Sumter County), so it’s not as if I wasn’t forewarned, si I’m really not complaining. I just lie back and think of ice-free winters. Wink!

Sounds like prime mosquito weather in Madison. Too hot and humid to cover up completely, so I hope you have some effective spray.

78 and hazy in Toronto.

It's been a pretty mild summer. Only a few hot days; the air conditioner has been on for humidity more than for heat. (Cliche it may be, but humidity really is much worse than heat; especially cold humidity, because there's nothing you can do about it.).

Just took the dogs for a long walk on the land. It's been a wet El Nino summer, we've had more rain than the past few years, so the grasses and trees are happy. We had 5" a few weeks ago, so everything is green and there's still water in the creek and a good bit in the stock tank, which the dogs reveled in. Looks like a decent year for the bees too, and the honey harvest continues, later than normal. The walk started at 90°F, it's 95°F now, 49% humidity. Dogs bathed, nice afternoon started. Life is Good in these United States.

Cold humidity!! I spent a few winters on the west coast of Scotland, where the damp goes clean to the bone, and nothing will keep it out. Whisky helps.

We are visiting family in the Quad Cities and now WI Dells. This weather is far more miserable than Tucson in the summer. Far more miserable.

Looks like the Fox River Valley (Appleton/Menasha/Neenah) got hit with an EF-3 tornado around noon. The footage is pretty dire but so far no reports of any deaths.

Here in Minneapolis it's currently 97 with a dew point that has dropped into the mid-60s, so it's not as oppressive as it was yesterday.

Disagree. When it’s cold you can always put on more clothes; when it’s hot there’s only so much you can take off.
