Congratulations to JD and Usha Vance, on the birth of their son, Alec.

I’m sitting in Appleton Wi tonite, waiting for my B29 ride tomorrow. I have the bombardier seat. I am happy a few are still flying.

Narr ayon kay ...

I'm jealous, Josephbleau. Is it "Fifi"?

Original Mike ayon kay ...

No bombing runs over Madison.

Josephbleau ayon kay ...

I’ll be in Doc. I hope it has a good old Norden bombsight I can look thru.

I think that in the 60s some hippies tried to bomb the Badger Army Amo plant from a Cessna though.

Humperdink ayon kay ...

The beauty of a high wing Cessna. You would struggle doing that with a low wing Piper. That and taking pictures out of the windows.

Maybe I shouldn't bring it up.

The only other B29 still flying is "Doc", which, BTW, last showed up in Appleton in August 2025.

And Tail-Gunner Joe McCarthy only flew on dive bombers, shooting at coconut trees.

So I had an idea:

Use the three-fifths clause on illegal immigrants.

My reading of the clause is it divides the population into three groups:

- Free Persons;

- Indians not taxed;

-"Such other Persons."

The clause never uses the words 'Black' or 'Slave.' It's understood that it refers to exactly that, but so what? The Left never lets such things stand in the way of their constitutional interpretations.

Are illegals 'Indians not taxed?' No.

Are they 'free Persons?' A good argument can be made that they are not. They don't have the right to be here, so how can they possibly be free? They have some due-process rights when you're trying to deport them, but again so what? Even slaves had some rights at the time the clause was written. But slaves weren't free. And neither are illegals, in the meaning of the clause.

And you can just use it as a bargaining chip. Blue states want to keep counting illegals in the Census? Fine, but they'll only count for three-fifths.

Plus you get Trump-Streisand Effect publicity. The MSM blasts out "TRUMP TREATS ILLEGALS LIKE SLAVES." Which just draws attention to how similar they indeed are to slaves, and how the blue states use them, not only to undercut citizen wages, but also citizen votes.

This is a law blog. Give me some legal counterarguments.

I am really getting sick and tired of "moderate" Democrats (as if such a thing actually exists) shouting that the DSA is some sort of new, existential threat to their party and to America.

In reality, the DSA is the entirely logical and foreseeable outcome of the way Democrats have been pandering to the most extreme and perverse elements of our society for the past 40 years.

Logical.

Foreseeable.

Stop acting surprised. You are what you are, you get what you deserve.

I watched recaps of arrivals to Oshkosh on Friday and Saturday. It is good to see freedom celebrated like that in the US. The ability to own your own aircraft, modify it to your liking, and travel the country to share in that joy. You can see similar joy at car shows. However, aviation takes a bit more discipline to achieve and therefore seems more rewarding.

I miss the Texas Raider. I saw it with Fifi, but Raider was more common at the Houston air show as a local.

I often watch Bridget Phetasy’s vlog “Dumpster Fire”. She is currently visiting friends and family in LA. Reasonably she did a special on the decline of LA. I just don’t understand how what showed is acceptable to Californians and Democrats. It is like the reverse Yeltsin visiting a Randall’s, except finding a store full of products, the store is boarded up. If the store hasn’t given up, the products are behind locked shelves. To obtain a product, you have to pick it out, find an employee to unlock it, and they’ll escort it to the register for your purchase as if it was a diamond ring, but it is ordinary item.

This has become normal for LA. Shopping is no longer a thing. Shoplifting ended it. The shops closed and what remains is a prison for everyone. You don’t hear about it, because it isn’t news. This should be the biggest shame carried by Democrats, but none seem to care. Instead, the DSA seeks to spread this experience across the US.

I was out on Lake Winnebago in my boat on the Sunday before the start of the show in 2023. Constant stream on planes of all types coming in. There was a Catalina Flying Boat (WWII S&R) out on the lake fooling around. The two monster radial engines were so loud when it did its take-off run past me.

I’m unclear what problem you are trying to solve, but I’m confident giving illegals legal status is not the way to go about it.

…cutting off the trillion plus in fraud the illegals have been floating on every year is cheaper and incentivizes illegals to go home. If they choose to stay make sure at least make we move them to red places to be counted in the census…

Big Mike ayon kay ...

@Dave Begley, pretty easily, since the tournament is over and everyone has gone home.

So there was an FBI report that China had been using Tik Tok data to create false IDs and phony mail-in ballots in 2020. The purpose was to install Joe Biden in the White House.

Nikki Floris was in charge of election security in 2020. She once bragged that she was running a "shadow government" across the FBI. An FBI field office sent up a report of Chinese interference and she had it recalled. Then she ordered that all FBI reports of election interference had to go through her office. This was when FBI director Christopher Wray testified before Congress that he had seen "no evidence" of any kind of coordinated national voter fraud.

The polling must be bad for the Dems because Kamala Harris just tweeted:

Paper ballots are the smartest, safest way to ensure your vote is secure against attacks by foreign actors. Russia can’t hack a piece of paper like they can a computer. We introduced the Secure Elections Act to ensure our elections are safeguarded. We must be ready.

Who paid for all the transfer of millions of illegals to the border?

Those people did not walk across Mexico.

Dave Begley ayon kay ...

Tim:

The idea is to count illegal aliens as 3/5th of a person for the census only. They wouldn't be made citizens or legal.

What it does is remove the excessive representation of those states that have lots of illegal aliens; think CA.

Leland ayon kay ...

If a person has entered the country illegally, and that alone isn’t a problem; please explain 1) why do we have laws for entering the country legally, 2) if you oppose those laws, then why not be clear on running against getting rid of such laws, 3) if you won’t run openly on opposing those laws, which other laws do you plan to keep that you won’t hold certain people accountable to follow?

Mike (MJB Wolf) ayon kay ...

Apparently there’s still confusion about that 3/5ths compromise.

john mosby ayon kay ...

So Begley, what do you think of my reasoning? CC, JSM

Michael McNeil ayon kay ...

Counting illegals as 3/5ths of a person, for state representation in the national House purposes, is 3/5ths too many.
