Well, except that the counting machines could be, and likely were, connected to the Internet.

And this doesn’t address the biggest vulnerabilities - determining whether a ballot is legitimate and from a live, legitimate, voter.

The way it’s supposed to work is to receive a bunch of ballot packages, containing a ballot and its provenance. He provenance is checked as well as the voter rolls. If the provenance is good, the ballot and its Provence are separated into two stack: provenance and ballots to be counted. isolating the counting machines from the Internet, freezing software edits, etc are mostly irrelevant. Counting the to-be-counted stack is not that open to fraud. What is,open to fraud is the checking the ballots for provenance.; 21-07-26 7:17 AM

Just wanted to repeat tim macguire's comment.

For one thing: for the purposes of "debunking" suspicions of electoral shenanigans in 2020 AND preventing electoral shenanigans in future, the left acts as if the only election that matters, anywhere, was the 2020 election of presidential electors, ignoring every vote on any other office or ballot initiative at any time. This misplaced focus supports their "debunking " narrative of "no *widespread* fraud."

For another: in order to keep the machinery all lubed up - by which I mean, in order to have the means available to cheat when you need to - the local political machine has to exercise it in every election. Otherwise parts of it may seize up: people who need to stay in place, local news sources that need to maintain their editorial bias (in order to let it spill over into "hard news" reporting), voter rolls that need to remain unexamined. These lubrication points support the "debunking" narrative that "recounts prove that the election was secure" - recounts *can't* prove that when the question of who voted and who does the counting and how cannot be answered with certainty.

The answer of the left to those who harbor suspicions about election integrity, past, present, and future, is the same as the answer of the cheating spouse to the betrayed one: "Why do you want to see my phone? If you actually want this marriage to survive, you have to TRUST me." And then the cheater never lets the phone out of her sight.

Clean systems don’t scream when you turn on the lights. Compromised ones do.

The court just cleared the runway for verification. The panic is still about the audit trail."
