Hilarious how after all the bench press photo ops and tough-guy rhetoric about unleashing the "warfighters" to do "kinetic operations" with "maximum lethality". Hegseth's first actual war ends with the enemy in a better strategic position than before.
Iran has discovered that it already possesses a nuclear weapon: shut down the Strait of Hormuz and they can get an American president to fold.
Iran’s chokehold on the Strait is the worst-kept secret in military strategy, a reality Trump and Hegseth decided to ignore.
Gas is down again today but I don't see much enthusiasm over the subject coming from leftists. I guess they really don't care all that much about 'affordability' after all, do they?
The limits of military might are apparent to all. The invasion of Ukraine is an ongoing reminder. The problem here is purely a failure of leadership. So it is no surprise we moved rashly into a conflict without a credible plan.
I don't know about the rest of the country, but where I live, gas was over $1/gal. more expensive when President Roomba was in office than it was anytime since he drifted off the stage in '24.
Nobody on the left said a word about 'affordability' then.
Fox News showed the end of the opening ceremony for the Obama Presidential Center. Jill Biden and Barack Obama exit stage right, Obama doing a little air guitar for no discernible reason. Tonight's TCM* "Third Finger, Left Hand" 1940 Myrna Loy and Melvyn Douglas (lots of y's) shine as a bickering non-couple in this romantic "screwball" comedy by director Robert Z. Leonard. The basic gist is Loy is a fashion mag editor who wants to keep her career going without intrusions (like the Publisher who fancies whatever women editor they have, much to his wife's chagrin --- and who usually gets them fired -- or boring and stale suitors) so she feigns being betrothed to an elusive globetrotter named Tony Merrick. She accidentally runs into Ohio-born artist Jeff Thompson (Douglas) who catches on to her deception and decides to play the part of Merrick at the family home. He woos the family but Loy is only interested in a divorce for a nonexistent marriage. The two get married at Niagara Falls only to get divorced in Reno. But guess what, (spoiler alert) they never make it to Reno,
It's all a bit inevitable and Leonard's direction is a bit flimsy and slow-paced for this type of comedy. However, Loy and Douglas could teach a chemistry class with their performance, and there are real laughs to be had, especially when Loy suddenly jumps into Brooklyn floozy mode to scare off Douglas's friends from home. A lot of talk about Wapakoneta (birthplace of Neil Armstrong) and humming of "round on both ends and high in the middle." Supporting cast is good but not as memorable as The Philadelphia Story. Both Loy and Douglas are relatively underrated performers compared to some of their peers in both comedy and drama. This is a nice little gem of a movie that only really needs a George Cukor-type behind the camera.

Character is the number one thing to look for in a person. They can take criticism without becoming defensive, using it to learn and grow. When under pressure, they maintain presence of mind and don't crumble or become reactive. They are fluid, can admit when they are wrong, and work well in a team without their ego dominating the room.
Signs of weak character. Fragility under pressure: Even small stressors or criticisms will cause them to break down or lash out. Defensiveness: They build a rigid shell, making it impossible to communicate, collaborate, or resolve conflicts. Patterned Toxicity: They consistently repeat destructive habits, such as avoiding responsibility or constantly playing the victim, which eventually undercuts any good qualities they have.
The most significant indicator of character is not what people say, but their actions over time. You can observe how they behave under stress to measure their true nature before you align with them personally or professionally.
Election day in the small Tennessee town of Athens started differently in August of 1946 than it did in previous years. Voters arriving to the polls were met with hundreds of armed deputies, not the usual 15 officers of years past.
Concern rose about potential election tampering, and one poll watcher requested that a ballot box be opened to verify that it was empty; despite the legality of this request, he was arrested instead.
Violence escalated throughout the day until the breaking point, when darkness began to fall and ballot boxes were taken into the county jail. There, they could be counted any way the election commission desired, potentially supporting election fraud.
Veterans surrounded the jail, demanding the release of the boxes, but their demands were ignored. It was at this point that the first shot was fired.
🚨 BREAKING: Arkansas combat veteran Aaron Spencer just won the Republican primary for Lonoke County Sheriff after previously being arrested for killing the man accused of r*ping his 14 year old daughter. "Juneteenth is a powerful reminder that the Democrats lost their war for slavery.
Yes, the glorious news of Republican President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation finally made its two-year trek to the great state of Texas. On June 19, 1865, U.S. Major General Gordon Granger delivered General Order No. 3 and proclaimed, in part: “The people of Texas are informed that, in accordance with a proclamation from the Executive of the United States, all slaves are free.”"
I think that it has taken a lot more courage for Trump to cut our losses in this war, and cowardice. would have been to continue with this disastrous war.
Let's see if Trump goes along with this proposed legislation inserted by Tom Cotton to put an Israeli into a peer role with the person holding job that Tulsi Gabbard held, or if the dam has really broken on this strange hold that a country the size of Papua New Guinea has on the United States of America.
When is the last time that you can remember where the US Ambassador to a country has publicly contradicted the words of the President of the United States, who is purportedly his boss, but the joke is that Huckabee is Israel's ambassador to Israel, or Israel's lawyer.

Could you explain your quantum theory on that small fact?
I try not to feed the trolls, and it's hard. The words are designed to provoke a response, and that's not the only insidious purpose to them.
They're like those policy statements we continually see from Progressives, telling us about the unique impact that common problems pose for the professional grievance mongers, how they are more severely affected due to their elevated vulnerability, and thus require even more special treatment. planetgo asks: "Could you explain your quantum theory on that small fact?"
If you go by the terms of the 14-point US-Iran memorandum of understanding that Trump signed in the historic Palace of Versailles of all places, Iran is the victor. How on earth did Trump manage to pull off such an improbable defeat having started with such overwhelming advantage?
Here is an easy three-step guide to losing a war. The first rule is to have muddled objectives. Within about a week of the war starting, Trump’s real aim whittled down to just one, which was reopening the Strait of Hormuz. It looks like he will get that, at least for a while. Until Trump declared war, that waterway had always been open.
The second rule is, do not know the enemy. Within days of decapitating Iran’s regime, Trump began repeatedly to tell the world that Iran’s new leaders were desperate to talk to him. Iran was defeated and defenseless, he kept insisting. They were begging him to stop. Trump’s MAGA base may have believed him. Unfortunately, the only audience that counted — Iran — knew that he was making things up. The Iranians had long since figured out that Trump was a man of bluster. He treated Iran like a bankruptcy negotiation, an art he perfected with extravagant threats to his creditors via the tabloids.Bankers are risk-averse types. Shia fundamentalists, on the other hand, are schooled in bloody adversity.
Finally, be sure to alienate your friends. Trump did not consult America’s allies about 'Epic Fury' his ("little excursion") and was stung when they failed to back him. The one exception was Israel, which had long been urging Trump to go for broke with Iran. We will see over the next 60 days whether Netanyahu can find ways of derailing the US-Iran talks.
Is there a ceiling on other concessions to Iran? Trump has indicated that all sorts of concessions are on the table. The US might allow Iran to keep some semblance of a ballistic missile program. Tehran might be allowed to maintain a civil nuclear program or to collect shipping tolls by another name. It might receive access to all of its frozen assets abroad, and enjoy full sanctions relief. The extent of the concessions that Trump allows will depend on the voices in his orbit (and whether he’s being called a “loser” on Fox News). If the people who have the Trump’s ear value the economic relief that comes with reopening the strait more than a clear victory over Iran, they’ll tolerate more concessions and so will Trump.
"Nice tanker. Shame if anything happened to it. Let me offer you insurance".
Iran now can extort the global economy at will. The final humiliation of Trump and MAGA supporters.
