I am reading Ron Chernow's biography of US Grant. While I am quite familiar with Civil War history (and Grant's terrific autobiography) I was really impressed wth the amount of negative politicking that Grant (and Lincoln) had to deal with. Envious Generals and Moderate Republicans almost cost us the Civil War.

The traitorous Democrats and RINOs are doing the same thing today. Makes you want to really thin the ranks of politicians every now and then.

LIVE NOW: Trump Hosts UFC Freedom 250 Pre-Fight Stunts Live From the White House | EpochTV https://share.google/LiA1cmrqGK04rHaJ8

Lem Vibe Bandit చెప్పారు...

I've had people live-streaming, alone, from the backseat, while I Uber them about. Novel, for us old timers, as far as technological achievement, but nothing unusual for the young ones now.

Yesterday, however, I gave a ride to two young women, who started a conversation about a spat one of them had with husband/living boyfriend. Until I notice how quiet the would-be listener got, despite the intense nature of the tale. So, I curiously took a quick gander via the rearview, and notice a phone light reflecting the face of the speaking friend. She was live-streaming her tale of woe. My suspicion confirmed when she responded to viewer comments.

I was puzzled to say the least. Was that story made up? Are young people doing that regularly? how regularly? Where are the boundaries? So many questions.

Later I though about how confortable people get, sometimes they treat a ride like an intimate personal space, judging from the conversations women have in the back of an Uber. Including phone conversations.

#The way we live now.

Trump seems to be having an absolute blast-enjoying his B day celebration, and I think enjoying the reaction it causes on the left. They can't touch him, and it makes them go insane. And now they have to admit that America is pretty damn awesome, especially when visitors to America fall in love- with the South- rednecks, waffles, brisket and more.

Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes on winning the Stanley Cup. Continuing the 30+ year trend, a Canadian team did not win it. One would think with 20% of the NHL teams, they would win at least one Cup over that time frame.

I remember being shocked back in the '80s when I realized people actually did make out in the back of taxicabs. I didn't consider myself a prude (I guess I was), but it really did shock me.

Not much shocks me anymore. I do still think it's shockingly disrespectful to the captive driver whether taxi or Uber or Lyft or whatever, just trying to make a buck.

I have had a few birthday parties thrown for me, most of which were surprise parties. Despite an inflated ego (before I got sober and sometimes afterwards), I am uncomfortable with the showering of gifts, attention and praise that comes along with being the birthday boy. I turned 70 a little over a year ago and hardly a mention was made of it. I liked that better.

As to influencers and others sharing intimate details of their personal lives online, I must confess that I do that also. I started writing a newspaper column when I was just 17 and it forced me to think my thoughts, opinions, and retelling of my escapades were interesting to others. Like my father before me, I can turn a fairly interesting anecdote into an amusing tale, usually self-deprecating. Many of my FB "friends" have chastised me for being too open on my timeline, but I write for MY enjoyment. Wait until they get a gander at the texts of two of my upcoming books-in-progress: my memoirs, and The FWB Chronicles. They will be aghast, as it has been said.

I saw someone try to frame this over the weekend as going after the SNAP beneficiaries. That is so wrong. The fraud are people who have no business receiving the benefits that were intended to go those that need the SNAP benefit. The people driving Maybach’s don’t need SNAP, and they should be exposed for stealing from, and worse preying on, those who do. Yet, the people getting punished by the Left are those exposing the fraud.

He's obviously having dementia--induced difficulty keeping track of his lies. He also just doesn't give a shit whether he's lying or not.

Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with Oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz. They are going along the Southern “Highway,” which is totally safe, secure, and pristine. There are other areas of travel, also!!! President DJT https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump

Meade చెప్పారు...

Relax. The tentative performance-based Memorandum of Understanding keeps all US military options available, including resumed action for Iranian noncompliance or violations. US forces remain positioned in the region. We might not have them RIGHT where we want them but we do have them where we want them. The markets and especially the oil markets currently reflect that reality. So you can continue to be grateful that you didn’t short the equities markets while taking a long position on crude oil.

Indefinitely Extended Excursion™️ చెప్పారు...

With the caveat, that today's peace often sets the conditions for tomorrow's conflict, on balance I am much less pessimistic about what a potential deal might mean for the region, the U.S., and the world. Bringing a country of 90 million people back into the global economy should be a net benefit for Europe, the Middle East, and the global economy. That reality is still a ways a way, but it is easier to see now than it was in mid-February. Economic integration may not be a universal cure-all for military conflict, but it does change the incentive structure in a way that raises the cost of future wars.

There are very few winners in the status quo that has prevailed for the past 25+ years. For the region the unending sequence of wars and economic terrorism have cost millions of lives, diminished economic development, and only fueled more conflict. From the perspective of the U.S., there are so many more productive uses of resources that we could have done that would have enhanced national security and prosperity instead of engaging in an unending sequence of multi-trillion dollar wars in the Middle (e.g. we would be stronger, healthier, and more cohesive as a nation if we had invested our wealth in education, health care, fighting against climate change, rather than in these wars). Maybe now we will have the opportunity to do those things.

Israel's position of militarism and expansion is also destabilizing and untenable. The fact that regional powers are stepping up and assuming responsibility for regional security may also be a healthier development in the long-term for Israel. The dream of Greater Israel was never tenable. However, it is possible to see a future where an Israeli state might be able to integrate and live in peace with its neighbors if circumstances force it to engage with the region as normal state, rather than as the U.S.'s "aircraft carrier' in the region.

Meade చెప్పారు...

Achilles,
Here’s what AI says about that video:

“The video recycles debunked Pizzagate conspiracy claims about Podesta emails, symbols, Epstein “pizza” mentions, and Alefantis’ Instagram posts.
Nothing about child trafficking, a basement ring, or child pornography at Comet Ping Pong was verified. Alefantis was never charged, convicted, or criminally investigated for any of it. Only the gunman who shot up the restaurant was convicted.”

Seems it’s your word against grok’s when it comes to verified/not verified. Got any other sources?

Mark చెప్పారు...

Achilles, posting a video full of widely debunked claims does not thing to prove your point + just wasted a whole lot of my time.

In fact, it says a whole lot that you cannot articulate the argument you are making yourself.

If you cannot state the reason why you believe your tin hat theory, then perhaps you should not be spouting such drivel.

That's the last video I'm clicking on from you. If you want to convince others you are right, make the argument yourself.
