The photos don't seem real. Never seen anything like it. Sunst at the beach is nice but not as good as these sunrise pics.

Yes, the palette over the past few days has been otherworldly...and the air has also been exceptionally clear, giving nice crisp photos. Well Done ! Are y'all getting up earlier to catch these hues, or something?

I'd describe the first one as "sultry".

The official weather says it's a 108 here now, but my home thermometer says 118 in the shade, and that feels more accurate. There is a county-wide fire warning due to wind, heat and low humidity, but there aren't many trees to burn, so I assume they fear the rocks will ignite, which would not surprise me.

This is why I left Phoenix when the opportunity presented itself.

I particularly favor the first, although the others are pierless.

I think the purple of #3 would look good in the DC reflecting pool.

Tiny Meade is in the 4th picture, hidden in the shadow. He's looking for newts.

Like yesterday, it was raining. So don’t let rain stop you from going out. It can be especially colorful.

Here in the foothills north of Boise, we regularly get beautiful sunrises and sunsets. But rarely are they even a patch on what you get daily.

NBA and NHL finales, the world cup is in the USA, the UFC is at the White House on Donald's 80th, then he signs the peace deal with Iran at the G7 whom bow and scrape. That's a brilliant week for anyone to have. It only cost 300 billion in Gulf State money (reparations) to Iran to get them to agree to sign the deal. The timing was like a crescendo. I got to get whatever Adderall he's snorting.

I realize that it’s old news, but let’s go back to August of last year, as a 12 year old girl in Dundee, clearly frightened but clearly determined, defended herself and her sister from a sexual predator. Well the Bulgarian couple who harassed them — a 20-something brother and sister — have been found guilty of sexually harassing the children in the Dundee Sheriff’s Court.

Bulgaria did not quality for the World Cup. If it really is the sort of country where a man who assaults pubescent girls can count on his sister to be a wingman, then it is a country that deserves nothing good, ever.

Photos one and four. Four is showier, but one has a nice harmony to it with the dock pointing us to the great light show.

Asked by a reporter whether he was confident Iran would give up its nuclear ambitions, John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican senator, answered: “Unless you were homeschooled by a day drinker, no one’s confident that Iran is going to do anything.”

Here in Outer Norway the high temperature today will be about half that of Roasted Arizona. And that’s in Americano degrees. In Old World terms we will land at about 1/3. I bought a $15 parka before leaving home. Good investment.

By the way, our poorly-informed protesters continue to follow our “MAGA boat” (it’s not) to harangue the old folks who are enjoying the cruise. None of us pays much attention.

“All men are created equal.”

What does this mean? It means we’re all human, born of a woman. We breathe in oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide. Philosophically, it means that we all have free will. Am I going to sin today? Am I going to commit a crime today? We all have that choice. Am I going to love today? Am I going to be honest? Free will, that gift from God, is how we’re all equal. And how you use your gifts causes inequalities. “”I am going to work and save and invest.” That man is going to have more success than someone who watches TV all day. Free will is how we are all equal, and free will causes inequality.

$300 billion? Trump sends pallets of other people's cash to Tehran -- I'll give it to Trump he loses wars far faster than any of his predecessors.

Trump does deserve credit for his willingness to call it quits and accept the inevitable brickbats and humiliation -- rather than double and triple down for 20 years like some of his predecessors.

Re the UFC being “primal.” The kid quoted has identified the essence of all organized sports: sporting events are all ritualized combat, where the violence is minimized and in many cases transferred to an inanimate object and the opponents must overcome each other through physical feats like running and leaping etc. Only the fighting sports distill the ritualized violence down to a one-on-one physical combat. That the physical exertion also keeps young men (mostly) in shape for actual war is a benefit to civilization.

I think we can safely say that Althouse has cornered the market on "crack of dawn" photos.

Moscow hit by largest Ukrainian attack since start of Russia's full-scale war ~ BBC

'Nearly 200 drones strike Russian capital, several hitting the city’s largest oil refinery'

The real achievement here isn't the strike but Ukraine's strategic pivot from US/EU supplied weapons to home grown arms. Why let politics or manufacturing constraints inhibit your offensive or defensive capabilities.

There's a lesson here for European countries reliant on US arms.

But Indefinitely Extended Excursion(TM), why are you not turning cartwheels down the street? My impression from your traitorous comments on Althouse is that you have been hoping for, praying for, the USA to lose to Iran. Why isn’t your treasonous heart bursting with joy?

As predicted here yesterday:
“ The two Antifa operatives caught on camera dumping buckets of aggressive Georgia algae into the Reflecting Pool at 3 AM are now facing federal hate crime charges.”

Yeah but the real crime was contracting to have the pool fixed for less than half what Obama spent.

FullMoon said...

The two Antifa operatives caught on camera dumping buckets of aggressive Georgia algae ....

Unfortunately:
"No, this claim is entirely false and originates from a fictional satire post. There are no Antifa operatives facing federal hate crime charges for dumping algae, nor was any "aggressive Georgia algae" introduced to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool"
