"When I ask, rather too intrusively, what being locked-in feels like, she suggests I sit in a chair for three hours with my mouth taped up."

"If and when I get uncomfortable, I must not move. 'It sounds horrific, right?'"

From "Life with locked-in syndrome: ‘Despite everything, you are alive’/Matt Rudd has remarkable conversations with three Britons who, after life-changing accidents, have fully active minds but cannot move or speak, and can communicate only via the blink of an eye" (London Times).

"House MD" did an episode on this subject. For me, it is the most horrifying show ever. I would add to the basic description provide; while sitting in the chair, no one is around to communicate. Because it is not like you can move and find someone to communicate.

Not quite Johnny Got His Gun, definitely a reprise of Awakenings, almost leads to I Have No Mouth But I Must Scream. Which will be the sequel, with euthanasia applied as a form of mercy whether wanted or not.

Ugly situation for sure. Be thankful for what you have and can do -- whatever it is.

The dearth of comments on this post makes me wonder if it's a Beetlejuice situation - we don't want to talk about it lest we manifest it. [shudder]

Their greatest problem, at this point, is of course that they can't kill themselves.

This would be Hell for me. This is what assisted suicide should be for, if nothing else.

Can they identify as a dog? Maybe then the ‘providers’ could do the right thing. Failing that maybe just keep that eye closed, and hope someone decides you’re brain dead, and it’s OK to pull the plug.

How horrible. I hope they are aware of Elon's neuralink.

From the article, you shits:
“Where he is most vociferous, though, is on the subject of assisted dying. “Today, I’ve got people like my sister who are very good at communicating with me,” he says. “It gives me confidence that I would be listened to if a life-or-death decision had to be made. The answer, for the record, would be 100 per cent life.” In the early years, when he was still coming to terms with his situation, he says, ‘there is no way on earth I would have been capable of such a decision’.”

I would like to take all of the money given to democrat learning centers and open a place for these people to live next to the neuralink labs.

This sounds so horrible.
